Trying to determine if I am going to go with clear or tinted goggles?  For those who have been swimming early what has been working best.  I would imagine that tinted will be my choice as the sun should be coming up around start time.

If it's sunny like it was today, tinted. You're fine going out, but coming back you're looking right into the sun.  I wore my clear ones today and it was a mistake.

Thanks!

m-mcclain - 2010-09-08 11:22 AM Training is becoming so so so hard to not go longer and harder...I know we've got to stick to the plan but man is it hard.  Today I did a 4 mile run with 45min bike brick and felt awesome.  I'm so excited for Sunday .......

Anyone else going nuts with this taper routine?

I've been told that you know your ready when you start going nuts in your taper.

I am starting to go nuts, but am celebrating every moment of my taper.  Had a smile for the whole 45 min run yesterday, and laughed a bit during the breaks in my swim last night (my last pool swim until probably October!)  I love taper!  My aches and pains have gone away, my workouts are easy and I'm enjoying food again (I was sick of eating).  I actually thought about having a gel yesterday ... I miss them.

Don, you must be going nuts if your craving gels!  I am concerned about packing on weight with all the reduced training.

I agree it is nice to train with the majority of the aches and pains gone.  Sounds like you are ready to go.

Pickles! Eat them by the truckload. Pretty much zero calories and they give you something to chew on. Wish I could be @ IMOO. Would have been my 5th time this year.

I met Tom Ziebart on the course today...really nice guy. He was going to do a loop to get a feel for the course and he commented on how bad Whalen was. I told him to wait until he got to the bad parts.

Hey guys,  I am a lurker.  I did Racine this year at temps in the water at 58 and pre race swims a few times 4 weeks before.  The temp was 56 one time.  Double cap?  No way.  I had a sleeveless and after about 5 minutes it was fine.  You will be so into your cadence you wont even notice the water any more than you do in the pool.  I wish you all well. Ill be in the MultiSport Madness tent on the run at State street.  You wont miss us.  We have at least 40 of us to cheer you on.

Godspeed and a prosperous journey!

With some of you getting pre-race jitters/nerves/anxiety, concentrate on getting a good night's sleep these next couple of days so you feel refreshed and ready!
Tomorrow starts it all off and I can't wait to hopefully meet some of you during registration weigh-in!

I am going around the 10-11 hour, getting my wheels, checking in, etc. I have been getting  a small cold this week due to the weather changes so I don't think I will hang around much if any. Trying to rest up and get ready for the weekend. If I feel better I may stop down and mingle some more tomorrow, well see how it goes I will probably play everything by the moment.

Keep drinking water, I have been having what I think(hope) are some pollen issues this week, but have been taking Airborne, Echinecia(sp?) tea, washing hands a lot, etc.  hoping to keep it minimal.  My son who  is a PharmTech thinks it is definately pollen issues since the Ragweed is at an all time high around here and I am going with that!

See you around!

Well the party has definitely started in Mad town!  I swam this morning at 6:30am.  The parking by Machinery Row now has an attendant to make sure you don't park in the reserved spots and there are signs up warning that there is no life guard on duty so you are swimming at your own risk.  The IM trucks are out, the bike transport people were there and there are significantly more people swimming, biking and running around the Terrace than yesterday.  The swim is a little chaotic because you have people going out and coming in in the same area without the normal course set up.  Nothing to worry about, just a heads up.

I'm coming down Friday around noon. After I regester I would like to take my road bike and check out the run course as I have not checked it out yet. Any problems with doing that? Are the trails open to bikes etc..

One thing I haven't figured out yet, is when to go to registration to avoid the long line.  I do know not to go Thursday morning when it opens.  Does anyone have insight as to the best times to show up?

Oh, c'mon.... Phil isn't that scary...or nervous...or makes others nervous (sorry Phil, couldn't resist the implication of UWMadTri's sentence).

My last swim is this evening, but I might come down to watch and soak in the atmo.
