This was posted... A pretty interesting blog.

Well, now i'm pissed off.... he makes a couple good points regarding the cost of top equipment... but he has obviously not been involved in or participated in triathlons...  or he would know top equipment is worthless if you're not properly physically/mentally prepared.

He doesn't get the whole objective of personal empowerment to push the physical limit.

His boss is probably a triathlete and he feels inferior to the boss in every way.

Take it easy Chet, coughing up blood doesn't sound good

I set my bike up on the trainer last night, got my Sufferfest video ready on it and put my bike shorts next to my bed. This morning I got up at 5:30am to do my workout and the computer had crashed and my Sufferfest video had gone without a trace...!

I finally hopped on and watched some Ironman YouTube clips and got a short ride in. That's the second Sufferfest video I've lost, grrr!

Some people sleep walk, some sleep eat.. did you sleep delete David?

So I made it back out for a short easy run today without incident.  Hopefully it's behind me now.

Most colds I am able to run through but there are times when the body just needs rest.  This is by far the most time I have ever lost to being sick though.  1 week of feeling terrible, 1 week of nasty productive coughing, then 1 week of a dry inflamed cough ( blood from throat and airway being raw, should of used "not serious" rather than "bad" in my description) equals 3 weeks of lost time at the peak of my training cycle.

So, when do you decide to rest and when do you decide to push through it?  Any criteria you use or just by feel?  I tried to run through it a couple of times but it set me back.  I have "sweated out" other colds and had great results.  My little "plague factories" keep testing my immune system

We've got 3 laptops, one desktop and an iPad at home and the only working ones are my iPad and my daughters school laptop! I'd managed to download my latest Sufferfest video onto my wife's laptop and when I tried to use it an iTunes box appeared saying do you want to keep this movie or move it to the recycling bin, as soon as I hit "keep it" it was gone!!!

Anyway, I enjoyed my little trainer ride and had a great swim this morning so I'm back in the groove!

Gald you're feeling better and back out there Chet!!
Luckily... I don't get sick that often.  Occasionally, i'll get a mild sinus infection or a slight cold... usually I can throttle back and push through.  For me, it's all by the way I feel.

Had I felt like you described - I probably would not have trained.
Everybody's tolerance/threshold of "feeling crappy" is very different making this a very personal decision.

WOW!!   Opening up the way for my trip to the top!  YEA!

Guess I'll need to get out of my bathrobe and start training.  Innocent

Almost spit out my juice.  Don't know why that struck me as funny, but it did.  I'll quit my job and be your coach/training partner Wink

Hey, I made some Kale Chips yesterday for the first time.  Kyla and Christine are rubbing off on us.  I'm also reading a book on Sports Nutrition.  Time to get serious again.

I've got some in my fridge just waiting to be baked. I just need to get thru the next 36 hrs first. 3 hrs of adult team ski racin tonight and three workouts planned for tomorrow. Talk about prepping ahead. I packed three w/o bags and all my meals for tomorrow already.

If the effort is so lame that i know it is providing no benefit I know it is time to close it down.   I used to be a run at all costs girl and all it did was prolong the illness.  The older I get the wiser I seem to become.

That's largely my family... even me. Kale is my least favorite green. But I'm good in soups and as chips, and braised with bacon/onion/balsamic. :-)

Glad to hear you on the mend, Chet!! Listen to your body!

Hi gang,

I have a question for the group about neck and shoulder pain.  Ever since my flu/strep illness 3 weeks ago I've had some serious neck and shoulder pain and pain in the front of neck and collarbone area.  Sometimes even sore to the touch.  It is the weirdest thing and is preventing me from really running b/c the bouncing up and down from a normal gait and slight twist to the body when running really aggrevates it.  It is generally sharp, shooting pain.  I thought it was getting better but a run on Sat. left me gingerly running back home after one attempt at an interval pace.  And last night every time I tried to roll other, it woke me up.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this kind of pain.  I have an appt. Monday to see my chiropractor but that seems so far away.  :-(

I know you didn't ask me but it sure looks like a "Powerbased" program .....   Foot in mouth  You are coming around Johnny!

I have never used this actual software interface, but the plans are all written by Jorge Martinez (JorgeM) from E3 training solutions who also writes the cycling plans here on BT.  His cycling plans are strong and work.

This was posted... A pretty interesting blog.

Couldn't get this to open.  Is that the point?

There is NO way I would want my boss on BT or in my MG.  We're not even FB friends for the same reason.  It's mutual.

Personally, I think it will be great to open up the women's fields for a while.  I think CW is the most amazing female athlete I have come across, but now we will see who else can rise to the occasion.

Suzy try opening it in Google Chrome?  I had issues opening it in IE as well.

Clean it, take out the middle stalk and freeze the leaves.  I do that and then put a handfull in my smoothie along with different fruits, spinach, vanilla whey protein, etc.  You can't taste how bitter it is that way.  Not sure the reason, but it works for me.  I then freeze the smoothie and eat it like a slushie later.

I am going through some of that right now.  I attributed it to swimming (and so did a PT), but I actually believe it is due to the height of my computer relative to my chair in our new house.  I find my bicep is always engaged and that makes both bicep head attachments very angry.  It causes pain the front of the shoulder as well as the pec area.  The less I sit there, the better it seems to get.  I do find that bending my arms for running or in aero also aggravates it.   I need to do daily self massage on those areas and stretch the inside of that forearm a lot.

If it is a sharp shooting pain my guess is you have some impingement in the nerve.  That is worth getting checked out by a PT asap.
