Then again, I volunteered for T2. Hmm... If I swam my azz off I could potentially go under a 1:04/1:06 based off of my HIM time of 31... Anywho... anyone NOT watching the Super Bowl this weekend? jackjack - 2010-02-05 11:10 AMI swam a 1:07 something in 2007 and it wasn't that crowded in the changing tent. Not empty but enough room to get a seat and helpers around. I suspect that might be cos I am a female and less females overall in the race? Jackie D |

It's superbowl Monday here and my class of 5th graders wouldn't get anything done if we tried to watch the game and learn. |

Extreme Veteran 353 New York | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread Hey WittyCity, We're not watching the Superbowl--we can't because our TV doesn't work (OK, it works but we don't have cable so there is nothing to see on it). We used to get free "over the air" TV but then they changed it to that digital signal, and we never bothered to do that converter thing. We will probably be watching Ironman DVDS while riding the trainer/running on the treadmill! I actually wish I could watch the Superbowl because my mother is a HUGE football fan. She is dying from cancer and I would do it in her honor. I will have to put it on the radio, at least. Kelly |

Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread I plan to watch the Superbowl seated on my drainer. I may actually be able to endure over an hour on the drainer watching the game. |

I hope she will come come and watch you and help you on your IM day. My mom is in Mayo and will be having heart surgery next week with 30-40% of dying during surgery..it's tough. Hope she enjoys the game! |

Extreme Veteran 353 New York | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread Hey Kathy, I will be thinking of your mom this week and hope she comes through the surgery well and strong. Keep us posted. Thanks for mentioning that about dedicating races to people. I am dedicating my Ironman to my mom, also to my dad who died many years ago from cancer. I visited my mom recently and asked her to come to my race "in spirit." She promised she would! I will be looking for her. Thanks for the kind words you guys. Kelly |

Cycling Guru 15134 Fulton, MD | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread 11 hours of shoveling/snow blowing (before I killed the machine) made for the big lack of swim training that I've had. Get some good upper body and core work. Of course we have ANOTHER 10 - 20" on it's way tomorrow night. Who needs IM training when I've got that!! |

Extreme Veteran 398 Sea Isle City, NJ | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread You don't want any of this snow. We are getting another 1-2 feet tomorrow to go with the 28 we got this past weekend. Really hard to motivate yourself to get a long trainer ride in after shoveling for 5 hours. I don't think we will be able to ride or run outside for another month!! |

Master 1920 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread cusetri - 2010-02-09 9:41 AM part of me has to laugh at all this snow talk. We call this winter in Syracuse. Yeah, but upstate NY has the infrastructure to deal with it, since it happens every winter, for the entire winter. These snow storms in the mid-Atlantic - twice this year now- are record setting...like, as in, most amount of snow EVER ever- not just the most for the season, like in syr/roc/buf. You should try spending a weekend in DE/Philly/DC when they get hit with 2 feet of snow- it just stays there....and stays there....until it melts. They have very few plows, they use sand on the roads (I don't even know if they have salt), and there just isn't anywhere to PUT the snow. It's just totally different than what I was used to in Rochester. In fact, I have yet to be in a place that is as efficient as ROC- not vermont, not CO, not MI- and certainly not DE. I want 2 feet of snow here in Michigan!!!!! |

But in regard to the city, yes, we know how to handle snow and major roads are clear at all times..... LOL, I lived in Greece, NY, and we lived directly across from a school- so they plowed my sidewalk at 5 am every school day, whenever there was snow- it was great I still had my share of shoveling the driveway, but everything else was always cleared for us. They've cut the budgets now, so sidewalks aren't plowed anymore, but my dad has his snowblower, finally, and just does everyone's sidewalk, cause it's so much fun! Here in Ann Arbor, they don't even start plowing until there's 4 inches accumulated on the roads. No preemptive salt trucks out there making the rounds before the first flake hits- it's weird! Good thing we have a trusty Subaru to navigate the roads! |

Why not? You just go. Run on areas that have been plowed. For me i would way way way rather run in snow than the treadie. But if you like the treadie, go nuts! |
