Exxxxxxccciittted!!! Big PR today and won some good swag. Cheers Kirsten! I totally had my pre race beer last night! It was Rogue's Bacon Maple Voodoo doughnut beer. Good stuff. Anyway I had a very chaotic start to the race and didn't even get a chance to pee before I started. Foreshadowing for the RR? I think so!

I'm off to go swim with mantas again.

This massive training load has left me with approximately 3 working brain cells. Maybe 2.

I really want to try that!  Haven't seen it here.  I did *finally* get the local brewery's pumpkin beer.  I've tried at like 4 restaurants and they were all out. When we went out for dinner (without baby!) the place had some left.  It was great.

I survived my run this morning. I was about 60-80 seconds slower than last year. I'm slightly bummed about that, but not totally. I felt stronger than last year, so the slow down surprised me a bit. It was gusty, windy . . . maybe that contributed to the slight slow down?

Honestly, I'm not too worried about it. I wanted to be five minutes faster than I was, but I can live with what I did.

I slept almost three hours this afternoon. I always nap crazy long after racing. I feel pretty good now. My left knee was bothering me right after the race, but it seems fine. We'll see how I feel in the morning. :-)

My mom, Ben, and Jayson all did the 2-mile. Ben finished in 19:2x. My mom and Jayson finished in about 38. They did a run/walk thing, mostly walking. Although, I guess Ben met them near the finish line and he and Jayson ran in together. Jayson loved that.

A family affair! I love it. Great job with the race. You've done a lot of racing lately so as you said, no worries about the time!

I survived, made it through 14+ miles of MUD and 35 obstacles in 30 mph wind (at times), intermittent rain, and overall coldness--and had an amazing time. I played with the Beast--and lived to tell about it!

Race report to come when I am coherent....might be awhile...

I'm frustrated.  My husband finally fessed up that he's not excited about me marathon training, so it looks like I'm just doing the half in March.  Annoying that he didn't tell me about that right away.  I can see his point, but it would have been nice for him to tell me when I brought it up instead of waiting until I made plans.

Yeah it's probably fair, surgery, young little one...it could be too much - how about putting it on your agenda for Sept/Oct - get his support and some help with the planning...always works if they feel involved.  Us athletes tend to be a little self absorbed!!

That's why I asked.  I think it IS fair, I just wish he'd told me instead of having to drag it out of him.

Definately see where you are coming from, that is frustrating. Then again I wouldn't want to be in the other side of that conversation if it were with me

Closed up a 26-hour training week. Woof. Whipped. Ready, creamy and sweet!

Went swimming with Monte and the mantas today. Transcendence beyond words. He and I spent most of the time off by ourselves (we went out on a dive boat with a small group), just swimming and swirling around these glorious angels-of-sea while they whirled around us and played tag with the tips of their wings.

Ouch, it so much more challenging when the decision to race/train is balanced against the needs of others. Especially daunting when there is a young one like E in the equation. I feel your pain, but I'm sure it will all work out for the best in the end. Just keep the communication lines open and you'll be fine.

BTW, I noticed you said he is not excited, not that he is against the idea (although I may be splitting hairs here). Is it possible that you can continue to train and see where it goes?

Well, I finally get a moment to sit down and catch up. Congrats to all the racers, race watchers, and non-racers this weekend. Great job everyone.

We saw DD2 this weekend (it was supposed to be wedding weekend). We went over to the port, picked her up for her off time, shopped a bit, and went out to eat. 4 hours with the daughter, 7 hours in the van. I may have calluses on my butt. Being a parent is never done, is it? I have no complaints. it was well worth the time, she has really jumped into her new job and is loving it. So nice to see.

Enjoy the week everyone, you are all among the many things in life I have to be thankful for. Thank you for that!
