etiquette question - how many minutes do you wait on someone for a meeting they accepted?  why are my coworkers so disrespectful of other people's time!?

If a phone meeting, I call them and leave message. If it is a meeting face to face I would wait 15 minutes, then leave stating I had another meeting to get to.

i sent an IM, and left a voice mail, and it's been 15 minutes (actually 17).

so aggravating.

I treat it like college....10 minutes and I'm out. (unless it's my boss or the CEO. I'll leave if it's anyone else, higher or lower)

We had a 15 minute rule in college.  That's what I do here too.  And you aren't alone.  Our meetings NEVER start on time so they then never end on time.

These days, I like the chili's that have chunks of meat, like stew meat, and not as much liquid.... and melt-your-head-and-scald-your-retinas-HOT.

Best.chili.ever. I use chuck roast instead of brisket. Just tailor your dried chilies to get the heat profile you want. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Texas-Beef-Brisket-Chi...

I am soooo making this - SOON, and I have a bunch of dried chili's (including some smoked ghost peppers) to use.  Thank you!

Although, I think I will add some beans to it... chili without beans just doesn't seem right.  Some cannellini and some Kidney beans should be good.

I've been hooked on making refried beans lately. Way too easy, way too versatile and way to delicious!

Morning TAN

Tonight/tomorrow should be pretty interesting. They're predicting a pretty large ice storm to hit the city. If it happens how they say it is, it will effectively shut the city down. Even Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel is doing remotes from here....which we all know is a sign that it's going to be bad.

Either that....or it's going to be 75 degrees. It's Texas so there's always that possibility too.

Yeah, well didn't we hear this same story 2 weeks ago? "It is going to ICE OVER!" and nothing happened. NOTHING.

I'm just wondering how we are all supposed to get our Dallas Marathon packets! They keep saying Saturday will be a mess downtown because of a parade, and to go Friday. Well we can't go Friday if it is iced over. Sure to be a cluster!

Same thing in Memmphis for the St Jude Marathon. They are now saying they will make a decision Sat morning at 5 Am about whether the race will happen or not. Nevermind that it was 70 here yesterday!

Wind chill here is 3 degrees right now - real temperature is a toasty 18 degrees. I had to pop in to Target to buy gloves, scarf and ear warmers before heading into work!

I WISH they would cancel ours! Just sounding miserable at this point. I hate cold weather. Blah.

It was 10 with a wind chill of -8 when I left for work.  It is supposed to get worse the rest of the week.  I LOVE Iowa weather.

Will drop below freezing the morning of the Tucson Marathon. The high is 50.

... and it was 45 and rainy/windy for El Tour de Tucson (our big bike race 2 weeks ago)

Glad I have drill and couldn't sign up for either.

My $0.02: once you see how they do it, you may DIY it with Home Depot windows. It's a worthwhile update in any case.

Hi TAN

We've got contractors coming on Monday to give estimates on redoing the bathroom - which I'm entirely too excited about.  It will be SOOOO nice to have it done.

Ridiculously crazy busy at work right now.  Two of the lawyers I work with are on a plane as of the crack of stupid Saturday morning to scuba dive in the Galapagos and they have seemingly just realized that they are going to be away for two weeks and despite the reminders I've given them since November 5th - they actually need to have stuff done for the due dates while they're away.  Huh... who knew?
