Artemis - 2010-03-18 10:43 AM Now that I'm done talking about my shoes (I can't help it.  So excited!), I should talk about my goals.  I'm great on biking and don't think it will be any problem to make that goal.  Running is going to be a challenge.  I had to bail on the half marathon this weekend.  My patellar tendonitis is still being problematic and A is too busy to drive to Atlanta with me, so we're going to stay home.  I don't know that I'll be able to make my running goal without the half and I know I can't do a half right now.  I'll do the best I can.  Sorry team.

Taking care of you needs to come first! Doesn't make sense to push now and injure yourself for the season!

dermoski - 2010-03-18 3:46 PM X2 on the healing Jen.  It does suck to have to miss a race, but your knee will thank you.

Your little toe-shoes remind me of the socks I had when I was a kid with the toes in them.  Mine were multi-colour striped jobbies...I loved them!

Agreed, on the part about healing.  You don't want to push too hard then be out for the season!  That's no fun!!

Omg, I think I have a pair of those socks somewhere.  Now I want to go find them. . .

Ok, bEASTies, looks like I missed a good day of chattiness today.  I think I'm mostly caught up.

News of the day!  I just registered for the Chicago Marathon!!  This will be my second marathon of the year (and ever), assuming I make it through the one I'm training for now.  I'm kind of excited because a lot of my friends are doing it, as well as 2 of my sisters who will be coming in from NYC and Ann Arbor to do it.  Plus it's on 10.10.10, how cool is that?

ebshot - 2010-03-18 2:08 PM Boy, what a chatty bunch today!  I'm all caught up.

Bill, glad your daughter is feeling better.  The pukes is just awful for everyone involved.

No one pass out but I went swimming!  It felt great to get in the water again.  It has been months since I have been.  I really need to get into some sort of a routine.  I'll have to figure it out soon.

Off to walk the puppy.  It is too nice outside to sit inside.  Catch you later!

nice job Erica!

OK Folks,  I am falling way behind with my running.  My HM training group has run 12 miles, and I am only up to 8.  If I don't run at least 9 miles at lunch today... (gulp) I should be tased.

Okey dokey. You have 3 hours to report back, before I come after you with a taser in each hand.

I am pleased to report that I completed a run of exactly 10 miles.  It was a slow ten miles, but I'll take it.  So, go ahead and holster that taser until next week!

Way to go Jackie!

KOM - 2010-03-18 6:10 PM Just finished my playlist for spin tonight.  All Irish but not necessarily traditional.  I've got Sunday Bloody Sunday from U2, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Chieftains with Sting, Mick Jager and Ry Cooder and of course our local favorites Dropkick Murphy.  Should be fun.  Now if I could just bring some cold ones for my water bottle holder!

I only had a few beers last night and I woke up with someone else's hangover! Took most of the day to get rid of it...Undecided Had a great tri-club run today. We have a wide range of speeds so we used the 1/4 mile outdoor track. Worked on running drills. It was so nice out. Was very impressed by my friend, she is just starting out and she held in there!

Had a scare yesterday and the school I teach water aerobics at last night. There is a man that doesn't speak very good English and I have a hard time understanding him...well he signed up for lap swimming without knowing how to swim, so I have been working with him after teaching my class, he was working on his kicking but acting very tired. after asking him several times if he was ok and not really getting the response I wanted I called the lifeguard over and we had to help him out of the pool, sat him on the bench and tried to get him to respond to my questions, no verbal response from him, he was always conscious but not really "with it" so I called 911 and when they got there they tested his blood sugars...he was at a 33! Later to find out he is diabetic and after an IV of sugar he came around and had no clue what just happened! It was really scary and I'm glad I took the time to work with him otherwise I might not have noticed he was having problems! They took him to the ER, I hope he is doing better today. I won't see him till Wednesday.

Alright bEASTies! I must go to bed, have my long run(9 miles) on tap first thing then body pump after. Also will be volunteering at a senior center to teach a fitness class. Then will join the bone marrow registry....little nervous about it but there is a mom of a student at my 2 younger kids school has A.L.L. and needs a bone marrow transplant. Thought I would see if I can help someone.
Have a great night all...and continue the chattiness tomorrow!

KOM - 2010-03-18 5:41 PM Good, let's move on to socks from footware.  I have been thinking of getting these because my 1st and 2nd toes rub quite badly. I have a big callous built up and I am not looking forward to sandal season....the black nail from my half on the other side isn't helping either.  Do you like using injinji's?  Why did you get them originally?

I was getting blisters on the sides and between my toes when I ran.  The Injinjis prevent that and I like the way they feel when I run.  It took a little getting used to at first, but now it feels weird to not have my toes separated when I run.

That is super scary.  Nice job on recognizing that something was not right.  It could have turned out much different if you didn't!  Hero award for you.

Oh my gravy, my arms hurt!  In a good way.  I need to get my bum to the pool more than once every three months.  Wow.

Today is a rest day as the kids are off from school.  Well, not really a rest day as we have OT appointments, a date at the park for a picnic and playing lacrosse and dropping off Alex for camp.  Should be fun!

I had a bad ride last night bEASTies and I may be done for the month.

Without going into the whole story I'll just say it involved my me, my bike, a Rottweiller, and me crashing.

My hip is bruised and sore. A section of my quad is sore just above my knee, but I'm having a lot of knee pain, sort of inside my knee. I'm going to take the weekend off and rest. If I'm still having a lot of pain on Monday I'm going to call my doctor.

Thanks Kim

The dog was out in the yard playing with a boy. I've ridden by there lots of times before and never had a problem. I don't know what happened last night.

The boy went running into the house and a man came out and had to chase the dog away, he yelled at him but the dog didn't listen.

I just put what happened over in the Ghoulie thread if you want to read it.
