Hey Dave,

How much of your meniscus was removed when you had it done. Turns out they didn't repair mine it was too damaged and they removed a huge chunk of it and told me to never run again.

I am just wondering if I will never be able to run again or if that is just some BS line they like to feed everyone.

Not a substantial amount. He cleaned up the frayed edges and took off maybe a quarter of it total. The no running again is typically doctors covering the, selves. Do what's comfortable when it becomes comfortable. If it hurts; stop.

I think I mentioned that I had a big chunk removed.  Dave's advice above is good.  Applies to many things in life actually...

I play about 3 hours, but I don't have a gaming console out here.  I play on my ipad and usually play more often when I have a new game that is keeping my attention.

I'd agree that having your lady play games with you is enjoyable.  My wife and I both play Monopoly Hotels.  Not against each-other, but on our own setup.  She's kicking my tail right now.

only on weekends for me, and only an hour or two at a time.  It's more of a time-killer than anything for me these days. If I'm just bored and have nothing else to do, I'll fire up a quick distraction.

I used to play a LOT more.  In my late twenties ('98-'99), I had a period where I was a little bit obsessed with gaming and would think nothing of playing 4-6 hours a night (multi-player) after work, and nearly all day on weekends.

Decidedly unhealthy, to say the least.

When I'm alone or when I have my kids? Being that I am single I play a lot to keep me from going out and spending money. When I have my kids we play a few hours a day on the weekends and none during the week unless they get their homework done.

It varies 3-6 hours a week in the winter time for me. Usually it is a 2-3 hour session once or twice a week when I am bored. I have taken to reading more.

This usually happens in Jan to early feb for me. After that I rarely play more then an hour a month.

Sometimes I dislike free time.

Not being able to workout like I want has freed up a lot of my time when i am not with my kids. Sometimes i find myself doing nothing, and I hate that!

I have all this new free time you talk about as well. I am struggling with it most of the time.

I am slowly getting back into spin class and swimming just this last week. But not a lot. So I have put in about 12-14 hours the last few weeks on video games and about 6 hours a week of reading.

I don't really like TV and I can't seem to get anyone to leave their house for coffee since it snowed here. But it rained today and seems to be warm out.

Honestly, it's hard to put a number on it.

And not to throw the other guys under the bus, but I BET they underestimate to not come across like total dorks like me!  Problem is, at least for me, I lose track of time when playing.

But it's hard to put a number on it because there will be times I don't even turn the console on for 3-4 months.  Then I get a new game and the wife leaves for work at 8pm and I start gaming instead of watching TV, and almost play till she get's home at 2am.

But I have also sat in front of a computer and surfed the net or look at youtube videos for 3-4 hours in a stretch.

But gaming is just another pass time for the moment after work, working out, chores, and wife time - I never sacrifice the important stuff to game .  I game instead of TV or reading.  Or I read instead of TV or games, or TV instead of reading or games, you get the picture.

If I had a stopwatch, I probably spend more hours on BT/TAN than gaming.  You just can't see the time adding up.

I would think MOST people would be surprised how much time they waste during a day.  So when people say they don't have enough time to train or whatevs, I scoff.  I know it's hugely different when you have kids, but still.

For example.  If you are a football fan, golf fan, basketball fan, you can probably EASILY be in front of the TV for 10-12 hours a week and that's only watching 4 games or 2 rounds of golf.

That's why I dont play video games. Because I find that I would sit there for hours on end doing nothing but playing video games. So instead I refuse to buy a console!

I have my usual ones.  Call of Duty always comes out with a new one in Nov.  and Assassin's Creed has a new one every 2 years.  Unchartered every 3.  So since I follow those series, I go through phases of playing or not depending if a new release is out or not.

The "problem" with those is they are story driven.  So once you play them, you are done (unless you are into the multi player).  Not like a sports game where you just play football games till the cows come  home.
