Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Hour run to close out the week. Feeing pretty good about the last three weeks. Still on the hunt for a bike. Went to the lbs and they have four bikes total in stock right now. One of them is actually what I want and in my size, but it is above my intended budget. What isn’t in triathlon?!? Of course...I already named it, so I think it is just a matter of time before I cave and spend the cash. |

Hoping to keep building on this. |

I went to one of our LBSs to pick up some shoes for my wife and the guy told me they're taking orders for bike delivery in MARCH 2021! |

Expert 4921 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN My desire to ride 60 miles on Saturday was thwarted by rain and fog, so off-season officially begins now. Six weeks of strength training, then two easy weeks before starting my 2021 plan late November. I think Nicole mentioned there's a local sprint tri here that is actually giving it a go. It's only like 5 miles from my house and I ride the roads all the time and it's my OWS practice place. Unfortunately it's going to be like 50 degrees LOL. No thanks! |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN ^^ I have no idea why it is making you download the photo to view it. To celebrate my new bike I got to do a ramp test on my tri bike. *sigh* At least it showed some improvement over my last test, even without much cycling to my name since then. Guess a summer spent doing archaeology is good for one thing at least! Followed that up with a pretty pathetic 30' brick run. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN 45' SLOW run this morning. Not entirely sure why it was so slow, but it was. Felt good--was fun--weather is nice...but certainly not winning any medals with that effort. |

Expert 4921 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN I've done the yearly sad ritual of "winterizing" my road bike - trainer tire, 11-23 cassette, new battery in the power meter. I swam indoors for the first time since early March this week, basically 2-3 people in the whole pool so not much to worry about. Did a 6 AM one this morning - that first 100 yards is awful but then you warm up a little and it just feels great. Lunch bike ride to maintain some bike fitness during the strength plan. Usually about this time of year I assess my season and start planning possible racing for next year. Bike races are always really slow to post calendars so you just guess based on when they were last year, but tri schedules are up already for most of next year. I have a feeling even without a vaccine we're going to slow march back to a more normal racing season next year, with just extra precautions and more limited fields. Guess we'll see!

Although with your love of Zwift, probably not too different for training. I tend to agree about getting back to some sort of normality with or without a vaccine over the next year. The world just can't carry on like we are forever, at some point there is either a vaccine, and the virus is gone. Some sort of herd immunity, and the problem is gone. Or the money is all gone and we just accept the risk of catching it... Like the risk we accept every time we hop in a car. What ever way it happens, the shut down of society around the world has to end sometime soon... |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN End of the month check up time everyone for September I managed: Swim, x 6, 6250m, 2 hr 35 min Bike, x 19, 17 hr 45 min Run, x 11, 82km, 10 hr 40 min Did at least 1 workout 28 out of 30 days, and totaled 31 hours for the month. About 90 minutes more than last month. Fewer bike and run sessions than last month, but more swimming, and longer sessions on average so the totals were about the same. Looking forward to another similar month of consistency and improvements. How did everyone else do this month? |

1940 , Kronobergs lan | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN So happy to live in Sweden I'll tell you! Although 99% of races were cancelled this year, we haven't had a lockdown so life has been pretty much normal. Anyway, numbers! not a great month, volume wise due to my broken collar bone but I am slowly getting back into it, 10k run las Sunday, a hour's intervals yesterday. tried biking but the shoulder hurts. no swimming either, too cold in the lake and I hate the pool. |

Biggest month ever cycling, 462 miles / 27.5 hours / 22 days on the bike. A return to strength training focus at the end of the month plus I found the pool again for a couple of swims. 3500 yards in a month LOL...that's a good workout. Now at 3100 miles on the bike for the year and my training plan should get me pretty close to 4K, though October is going to be relatively low. A couple of days in the pool and I'm exciting about swimming again, like I haven't been in YEARS. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN September was a solid month for me. Focused mainly on getting back to consistent training, which I did. Today was a short 30’ run. Tomorrow will be my first long (2hr) ride on the new bike on the local gravel trail. Tonight will be spent transferring the pedals, power meter, and seat off my roadie onto the Cyclo-cross. In the living room...in full view of my wife so she sees just how much work it will be to do that every time. You know...until she gets fed up watching me do that and tells me to just order duplicates. :D :D |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN 2+ hours riding my new bike on the local cinder/gravel trail. So.much.fun!! I had a blast and didn’t worry about power or intervals or cadence or anything other than staying upright and moving forward. In the years I’ve transitioned to aero bars though, I’d forgotten about tingly hands. What do you all do to keep your hands from going numb? I wore gloves, but they probably aren’t the highest quality gloves in the world. |

You could stop and do some basic yoga stretches that reset your upper back posture and hands/wrists. |

Member 3143 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinkers' Appreciation Society (BDAS) 2020 Version - ALWAYS OPEN Short 30’ run this morning where I over dressed because it was slightly cool...sigh...this happens every year! Then I got to take my dog for her first walk in six months. She tore all the ligaments in her knee in the spring and all of the sudden my running buddy was completely incapacitated. Of course, it was right after covid shut everything down and no elective surgeries, so she was basically supposed to stay off it and wait for it to heal. Last night she was so rambunctious, I figured it was time to give it a shot. We walked 0.2miles in 20’ and she was worn out. Of course, there was plenty of new stuff to smell and mark, but man that was a slow walk!! |
