Hey you all!

What a busy week, nice to breathe today!  I had company in town last week and had a GREAT time!  My place was in need of some work before that though, so I didn't get as much training in as I should have, though it is nice to have everything done now!  Even last week, my training hours were low with my friend in town and 4-5hrs sleep per night if I was lucky!  I had a great time though and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!  With that said, I am READY to hit it hard again and NEED to, OMG!

Today I have a 3.5 hr bike ride scheduled on my training plan.  I am sooo lucky it is 55 degrees already in Omaha, this should be sweet!  I have only made it out once I believe over the winter . . . sooo looking forward to this ride!  Now I've just gotta figure out a route and figure out what I'm going to eat before/during, then get going!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!  I will check back later and have more time again - whew!

TTYL!

I won the Superman and Wonder Woman robes!  It will be fun to wear those around, maybe over my tri suit?  Heee.

Did my 10.15k trail run today, didn't beat last year's time as it was very muddy so I went a bit slower, and also walked up a few steep hills....was dragging a bit, still the time was pretty comparable, around an hour.  I will do my RR in a bit. Not that it will be very exciting!!!  Oh well, it's always fun to be around other athletes, no matter what.  Lynne and I went to breakfast afterward, which was fun, and a couple of my friends also did the run with us.

Yay Shawn and Leslie! Glad you guys picked up some cool stuff and contributed.

Super congrats on an awesome 10+K!!! Wow, that's fast for a muddy trail run. Great job!

so i am up at 6am today for my saturday long bike ride. but it was just another drizzly saturday morning in so cal. too wet to do a bike ride, but just perfect to go run. dont ask me why, but today i think this running thing is making sense. i have this long course that i have wanted to see if i could complete, and today was the perfect morning. 2hours and 15 minutes later i had run\walked my 12 mile course. surprisingly running more than walking. a good day has started.

So,

I completed my mileage for the Feb challenge - not a small thing, given all that is going on lately.  anyway - here's my question

Here's what I've worked up to in my wralking

5 min warm up starting at 3.6 mph and increasing to 4.0
then alternating running 3 min at 5.3 mph and walking 2 min at 4.1
Cool down - just the opposite of the warm up

here's the rest of the question

no idea if this is a good way to do it or not
I'm not sure where to go from here - tips?

Hi Beth....do you think you can increase your running time, like 3.5 run/1.5 walk?  That's one way.  I know Yanti changed her percentage and liked it.

Sorry I haven't checked into most people's logs lately! I will get back on that soon....some days/weeks the kids yank me off the computer every time I am on here!  I am always thinking of you guys, though!

Erin, good luck tomorrow in your race!!

Wow, looks like our group is busy this weekend.

Great run, Will! Is that a PR for distance?

Congrats, Leslie and Shawn on the raffle wins. I'm totally jealous of the bath robes. ANd Leslie, that trail run sounds like so much fun! I'm off to read your race report in a minute.

Beth, I already told you how impressed I am that you met your goal for the month. Nice work. I agree with Leslie that it seems like the next step in wralking is to shake up the ratio a bit. Or maybe you could try to up the speed a little and see how that feels? Either way, you're doing so great.

Yanti, good luck in your race tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you during my own race. Speaking of which, today I went to pick up my race packet and check out the route. Looking at the venue always makes me feel a little better, and I'm not really lnervous now. Maybe I'll even sleep a little tonight!

I survived! And I'm pretty sure I wasn't even last on the swim!

The race was a blast. Tough, but fun (I can say that now that I'm done). The swim wasn't bad at all, actually, but it wiped me out for the rest of the race. I was thinking about you guys the whole time. Or maybe not the whole time, but several times throughout the race I'd think about all of you and how awesome and supportive you've been. And Yanti especially, racing today.

I'll write up the race report when the results are in. Maybe later today?

Woohoo! I'm a triathlete today! And also 34!

Erin, good luck tomorrow in your race!!

that's sort of how I've been trying to approach it - i was doing walk 2 min @ 4.0 mph run 2 min @ 5.0

I then kept the same 2 - 2 but went up to 4.1 for the walk and worked my way to 5.3 for the run

the last couple of times I've done the run 3 min, walk 2 min at that speed

I'm just not really sure how long I should stay at this pace before changing the %

also, is it better to work on being able to run for longer or to go at a faster speed in between the walk portions?

Heh, yeah, it's my birthday. I figured what better way to celebrate than to finish my first triathlon. (Yes, my friends and family think I'm totally insane.)

Now it's nap time. I am so not a fan of waking up at 5 a.m.
