Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: TAN 113 TANtamount to Anarchy Well with that all cleared up, I think I'm gonna go ask for some gifts. My best friend's 30th birthday is coming up and I think I deserve something from everyone, too Oh ya! I'mma go register like Meh... got lots of weddings coming up. But I can't figure out what to ask for for my friend's baby shower... I have no use for diapers or onesies... what to do, what to do... |

I can see it both ways. On the one hand, sometimes it sucks to get presents early. But, if she gets it early, she'll have more chance to use it with you and that will be exciting. Personally, I would give it to her early and try to make it special and make a big deal out of it. If you can, have another small thing for her to open on her birthday. This. And even when I was a kid I loved early birthday presents! Don't forget to give your son a little something too, to open on both occasions. Something as simple as a cool eraser is fine ... just something for him, too. My mom has said that when we kids were growing up (I have 3 brothers, all of us close in age), she had to buy gifts for ALL of us on any birthdays, otherwise there'd be tears for sure... What? Why would the other kid(s) get presents? It's not THEIR special day... isn't that the whole point of it being that person's special day? You people are strange You have no idea.... In all fairness, I suspect we were around 3 to 6 years old. Right around the reasoning ability of a cocker spaniel (though I looked more like a shar pei)... |

I actually loved picking out stuff for her and being in on the surprises. I don't remember ever thinking I needed a gift on her birthday. Because if that's the case, I better start registering, she's getting married in November and I wouldn't mind new dishes!!! I do give him something, its called cake. Anything more then that kids need to HTFU Bah, I call BS. You may talk a tough game, but I bet you're all mushy with your kids. |

They are trying to work the “but mom does this” game already but it's a no go. I have a preset statement for my girl when she asks me why she can’t do something dangerous, stupid, mean, or so on.
Her: why can’t I? I was a stay at home dad and before that I was a day care teacher for a few years. I have absolutely no problem saying no to my kids. |

My head still kinda sucks, but the Demerol shot yesterday certainly helped to take the edge off... mmmmm.... drugs! Now fighting with the ex as he's trying to screw me over yet again as we go through this whole divorce process. I'd really like to tell him to just eff off for now, but we really need to get this sh*t taken care of. Oh, and VACATION starts... well, I guess it started today! |
