I think I saw on here that there is someone staying at the Blackwell Island Campground.  Who was that and is there anyone else.  We will be there from Wed - Tues.  Both my husband and I are doing the distance (God willing).  Getting very excited and counting down the days.  Thanks to everyone for all of the information on here throughout the months.

I am staying there!  Also along with 4 other teamates and their families.  I am trying to find out if the rode leading into the campground will be closed duirng the bike since it's right on the bike course.

Anyone planning on getting an easy ride in late Thursday afternoon?  I'll be getting into town Thursday around noon and picking my bike up from TriBike Transport.  Had a race tune done by my shop before TBT took it away and would like to get in 20ish miles to make sure there aren't any issues with the bike.

Also, any other BTers staying at the American Country B&B?

I'm picking up from tribike on thursday as well.  I was going to do one loop of the run course on my bike right afterwards.

I'll be doing the same I guess we both dropped our bikes off at Inside out sports in Charlotte, you have any issues? one guy was nice, but another guy was a  jerk to me, when I asked for some kind of receipt. He was like you don't get none...I was like it's not a  good business practice for a customer to drop off a gear bag and a bike worth thousands of dollars and not give some sort of   receipt. he wanted to argue with me but the other guy stepped in and gave me the bottom portion of the ticket which I feel he was probably supposed to do.

Ride the run course sounds good to me.

good idea to ride the run course. I shipped my bike on my own yesterday for a Wed arrival at a friends house. Completely tore it down and built it back up before taking it apart for shipping again Laughing. I'm a bit anal that way with my bike.

Anyone doing the IronKids race with their kids? A friend will be doing it with her daughter and me with my son. Both kids are 5. So I will be around Thursday afternoon In CdA as am actually staying in Liberty Lake which is about 20-25minutes out of town

The lady I spoke to at the campground said that it will be closed, they are putting signs out already announcing that portion will be closed.  She also said that it is an easy walk across the bridge to the downtown (1 mile) if we have family/friends that need in and out

Are there any "big name" pro's racing this year??

I was excited with Crowie showing up last year.  At one point, he was only 35-minutes ahead of me in the race.  Of course that moment was at the starting gun for us age-groupers. :-)

Chris Lieto and Heather Wuertele are two that I've heard of.

According to the e-mail they just sent, Mirinda and Chris Lieto are signing autographs on Saturday.  Not sure if that means they are racing.  that would be great.

Last year was pretty cool working the aid stations, I got to hand fluids to both Crowie and Dibbens plus tons of AG'ers.  I will probably volunteer for next years race since I wont race it.

Swam 1.2 miles in the lake this afternoon and, while on the chilly side, it wasn't the bone numbing cold race day was last year. The full race distance would be easily done even with it being a bit chilly now. Add in another week of warmer weather and we'll be golden on the 24th!

I got my first "real" OWS today, a full mile up at Deer Lake, whatever nervousness I might have had about the swim is gone now. Got over the cold pretty quick, I think the neoprene cap helped a lot with that. Speed was a fair amount faster compared to pool swims with the same, or even slightly less, effort then in the pool.

Question for the Ironmen (women) out there:  Where do you put your bike when you stop for the bathroom?

runergirl, not sure of the temp, water felt a little warmer than when I swam in CDA a while back, water still stung my face a bit from the cold. Also, last year when I was working a bike aid station, there was a bathroom there and people would just lean their bike on a post next to the course and run in, only one person ever asked if someone could watch it.

You can lean it up against the port o potty.

Many times there are volunteers that will  hold it for you.

I did the same yesterday and I can say the temperature really wasn't an issue.  The chop was more on my mind than the temp...and if my tropical bones can  hack it out there, nobody will have a problem!

And Flyboy, CDA is treating me just great!  "Car d'Alene" has been a fun bonus.  Had a great ride out there today....lots of Iron men and women coming out of the woodwork.  Really starting to get stoked for the race!

Would anyone be willing to pick me up a cycling jersey when out there?  They ran out last year.  (Last year's did not have the year so I assume this one will not either.)  PM me if you are willing...  Will paypal you for the cost plus shipping to FL (or I can give oyu our UPS account #).

Thanks...
