This is the plan I am thinking about.  I read through the Novice 1 plan and he basically said if you've been running a while you could probably do Novice 2. I really didn't look at the other more advanced plans cause I am a little hesitant to jump into a first marathon  on a harder plan.

90% certain I will go for it and thinking on Intermediate 1 instead of Novice 2 because I have more of a base than the Novice plans call for.  May have to purchase the plan off training peaks to get the details as opposed to a list of mileage to run when.  Has anyone used training peaks plans with any commentary on them?  I'm not locked into any plan yet so I have room to keep looking.

I haven't used training peaks, but I have followed that same plan. It got me in great marathon shape. I have higdon's book (Marathon, the ultimate training guide), it has the training plans and none of them have any real details beyond the day's plan or what you can find on his website.

I have the book too, guess I will be rereading it.  Was hoping for some detail and I think the only way to get that is to shell out the money on TP for the interactive plan.  Not terribly expensive, but it's just another site to keep track of.

Rachael, I'm with Suzy!  You rock getting in the first lane and hanging on!

I am debating late season plans.  There is a part of me so stoked with the way my run is shaping up that I am considering signing up for my first marathon.  The other part of me knows how much I really missed my bike last summer when the 20 week half marathon plan took over.  Just not sure what I want to do this season......decisions, decisions.

Which one? Which one?

drfoodlove - 2013-03-16 10:03 AM Happy Saturday all!

I did the same route as last week, which is pretty hilly, and finished 10minutes faster than last week. I'm pretty happy with that, but most happy with the fact that I only had to walk up two hills. Last week it was way more, and I remember each one, so as I crested hills I had to walk up last week I really felt accomplished!

Way to go !

enders_shadow - 2013-03-16 11:29 AM Trail half went great! It was so much fun - if I ever quit tri's again, I'm going to go strictly trail racing. It poured rain for the first two miles, but after that, it was great. Cool & muddy, but sunny and the woods were gorgeous. Will post up a race report & pics later. Time to shower off the mud.

Congrats !  Always wanted to do a trail run..your pics make me want to sign up !

amd723 - 2013-03-16 1:18 PM I was able to get a 15 mile run in this morning; it is the longest run I've been able to do in about 5 months, so I'm very happy . I am a full Hoka convert now

Awesome !

Back to training today after a week of really doing very little (except the skiing, which I don't really think counts).

Finally made it into lane 1 at the tri club swim session, which was one of my March goals.  It was HARD.  On the longer sets I waited until I got lapped (usually about 250m) then stopped till the group went past again so I could get back on someone's toes.  On the shorter sets I managed to swim them all but didn't manage the rest intervals so much.  But I was getting more off the draft than the recovery, so I just pushed on.  I'll definitely get faster/stronger by swimming with that group, so hopefully the lane won't fill up too much in the near future while I find my fast.

I'm officially the fastest swimmer in the tri club who wasn't a child swimmer, but I figure there are still improvements to be made!

Great job !

I need a nap. ;-) Masters last night kicked my tail. I'm not sure I'm getting faster, but I am getting stronger - I think.

Little run on deck tonight during Elder's piano lesson.

What is on the agenda for folks today?  Started mine off with a nice run.

Had a bike ride last night, so today's plan = a little run (already done) and masters swim tonight.

And since the girls are on spring break - supervising a playdate, baking some peanut butter pretzel cookie bars (and not eating too many), and sorting through their clothes because they grow like weeds.

My weight loss held steady even with a food tempting weekend!  Yeah!

Yesterday I got a nice run in with cloudy but mostly dry weather and no wind.  Today it is storming like crazy.  Heavy rain and gusting winds.  So I think that I will try for a swim during my break at work.

Short bike, work travel and trying to ignore the lousy weather in Madison.  One of the roads by my house is closed because there is a 20 foot snow drift blocking the lanes.  This is the first day of Spring, right?

Track session tonight followed by night shift.  I've started icing my knees at work because sitting in a car all night after a hard training session is doing horrible things to my knees...

I'm also wondering what this "spring" thing is that we keep hearing about.  We had snow Sunday night and it's been sleet/hail/snow for the last few days.  Seems to have settled on rain today (fortunately - the track isn't great when it's slippery), but we have more snow forecast at the end of the week and into the weekend, which is messing up my cycling plans for my last weekend off for a month :-(  I'm really hoping I don't have to do another long turbo session - they're soul destroying.
