Fielding - 2008-03-02 1:44 PM I survived! And I'm pretty sure I wasn't even last on the swim! The race was a blast. Tough, but fun (I can say that now that I'm done). The swim wasn't bad at all, actually, but it wiped me out for the rest of the race. I was thinking about you guys the whole time. Or maybe not the whole time, but several times throughout the race I'd think about all of you and how awesome and supportive you've been. And Yanti especially, racing today. I'll write up the race report when the results are in. Maybe later today? Woohoo! I'm a triathlete today! And also 34!

First of all:

Congratulations! (Dig the chain?)

We are all so proud of you!!!!! HEY YOU ARE HARD CORE, and a fantastic job kicking azz on your first full tri. I sent great vibes your way and thought of you while I was warming up for the swim, and then in the middle of the run (that's always a tough spot)!

Second:

Heh, yeah, it's my birthday. I figured what better way to celebrate than to finish my first triathlon. (Yes, my friends and family think I'm totally insane.)

Now it's nap time. I am so not a fan of waking up at 5 a.m.

Congrats, and Happy Birthday!!

My own tri went far better than I expected. (Of course, because it went so well, I was almost kicking myself for not pushing just a little bit harder where I could!)

Thank you all for your wonderful inspires, good wishes, and fantastic support. You are clearly the best Manatee group in the history of BT.

Congrats to you both that is awesome I can't wait for mine and it is still like 7 weeks away. I want it to get here. Although I must say my 12 k run today the legs were sore after the 30k bike yesterday but hey they stiffen up over night where as the tri I will have the adrenalin and continuous workout.

But again CONGRATS to you both that is awesome!!!!

Thank you!! I could definitely feel your awesome vibes -- I was not nervous at all at the start of the swim, and all of a sudden, somewhere in the middle of the run, I got a weird boost of energy. I am assuming they're both from you!

And Yanti, major, major congratulations on your seriously kick- race. I'm so totally impressed.

Thanks for the warm wishes, Will and Renee. I can highly recommend racing on your birthday if it's an option. It's a great way to feel very accomplished. Shawn, you are going to have such a blast in your race.

LJR: Thanks for tracking me down! We definitely need to make plans for an OWS now.

Edit: So it looks like the race results won't be up for a couple days. I'm trying to decide if I should write up my race report before then. Honestly, I didn't feel like I did all that well in this race (not that it matters -- it was my first, I succeeded in a) having fun and b) FINISHING), but it's kind of hard to write up a comprehensive report when I have no clue how I did. What do you guys think?

Oh, and finally: What's everyone up to today??? Rest day for me.

I would write up your report sooner versus later while everything is still fresh in your mind - you can always fill in the official times later

just my humble opinion

just my humble opinion ;)

Based on the little (ok . . . nothing) I know about doing race reports - I agree with Beth - I would do it now, while it is fresh in your mind!  It seems most of it is based on how you felt about the race - don't let the final results be the only factor that determines how you felt about it!

BTW - My big race is 4 days before my bday, I was super excited about that :)  I am hoping to do one before then though, just to get a feel for a tri . . . still haven't figured out when?  I was ALMOST going to be able to do the one Yanti is (I had gotten permission from my brother to miss his bday party if it landed that day) but then I got an invitation the very next day to a friend's wedding . . . can't miss that . . . so, still need to find one early in April, if I determine I can afford to travel to one!!  Will have to see . . .

I have a rest day today as well and plan on enjoying it!  Only 2 more of those this month and a pretty intense month otherwise!  I got in a long bike Sat and a long run Sun.  I'm feeling pretty good about both, though I wish the bike would have been faster . . . but it was good to get outside and just get a long one under my belt!

On edit - ENJOY that rest day Erin - you sure earned it!!!

Back to work . . . have a great day all!

Renee

Did I scare everyone away with my most awesome RR?

So what's on the schedule today? I'm back in the pool tonight for a short swim, followed by a short run. I intend to run very, very fast, just to prove to myself that I can. I know, it's supposed to be a recovery week, but whatever -- I need the confidence boost.

Here I am!  Trying to get motivated to unearth my spring clothes to wash them for my trip to Cali on Saturday (how's the weather down there in LA?)... I ran 29 minutes this morning and also got the local running store to replace my blistery shoes for me.  I will have them by Thursday, hopefully, and maybe I will be free of blisters for a change.  We shall see.  It  was mighty nice of them.  I also bought some cycling tights at REI and am planning around 90 min of t.i.t.s. tomorrow morning.

Today completes FOUR weeks of the Oly plan!  It gets much tougher from here on out, but I am really psyched about what is coming up.  I will miss a few workouts while on my trip, but am increasing a couple of runs and bikes to try to compensate.

I'm trying to get to the gym tonight to swim.

Cross your fingers for me. I'm going in the morning before work to see if I can do the gym in the morning and make it to work on time. It means getting up 45 minutes earlier than what I'm used to.

Great forecast!  It's 47 and clear here for a high today, so 70 will feel like the tropics!  We are flying to LAX, taking a Disneyland bus to a Disneyland hotel and spending 3 days at Disneyland, taking the Disneyland bus back to LAX and flying home, so we won't need mapquest this time around!!  I hope to spend longer times in LA one of these days to check it out, as my hubby wants to move there, possibly. I am not convinced yet...all of our family is here so it will be a very tough sell.

Three days! And perfect weather, and it's March so the crowds probably won't be too bad. You're going to have such a great time. You're also going to walk your off, so I wouldn't worry about missing a few training days. It'll probably be a better workout than you'd get at home anyway.

I got up at 5 and went to the gym this morning! Woohoo! I forgot to calculate in the amount of time needed to change afterward, plus the traffice wanting on base when I returned, so I need to get up and leave earlier. I'm trying to swim and treadmill as many days a week as I can. Tomorrow is the treadmill. I've changed orthotics and am hoping it won't leave me limping around the office all day. I have my water bottle freezing though, just in case. I have to admit I feel so vibrant! I don't know if it's a sense of accomplishment, the adrenalin after exercising or what, but bring on the day! I'm hoping this works out because Monday and Tuesday both had something happening that kept me from going after work and I was very aggravated.

Terri, yay! That's fantastic that you got up so early to get started. And wow, 5 a.m., that's not fooling around. (Although I worry for you having to get up even earlier so as not to be late. That's...disturbingly early. That's bedtime!) I love how I feel when I work out in the morning -- I'm basing this off of one 8 a.m. run, two races, and many backpacking trips -- but it's just so hard. Keep at it!

I'm in a rest week, but I've got an hour on the stationary bike tonight. Next week I'm taking my bike in for a proper fitting. It's way past time that I did that, and my hands were getting numb during my race so obviously something's off. I'm also going to go clipless finally. I really hope I don't DIE.

What's everyone else got on today?
