When I was really managing three sports I would do something like Monday AM, Monday PM, Tuesday noon, Wednesday AM, Wed PM, etc. in order to always have at least 12 hours and two meals between each workout.  Now with just a bike focus it's a lot easier.

See, I hadn't even considered how many full meals in between workouts. But you're right that's a very relevant point. Thanks for the thoughts.

Fairly relaxed week for me so far, 2 swims, 3 indoor bikes and a run. Longest workout of the week so far is about 45 minutes. It is a rest week after all.

Tomorrow I've got my make up 3 hour ride from last week, and a 75 minute long run Sunday.

We've also got our election on tomorrow, and on Sunday its the 2nd Bledisloe Cup test match (NZ vs Australia in rugby) and the Bathurst 1000 (Racing cars, this part of the worlds biggest race, think Daytona 500) So I've got a long weekend of sitting on the couch watching sports/politics ahead of me. Where I'm sure I'm going to snack myself into undoing several weeks of good workouts. Haha.

45’ run this afternoon in rapidly chilling weather. Yesterday, I sat outside in the afternoon and got a little sunburn. Today, temp is down 20 degrees and it was cloudy. I fear this might be the real turn into cooler weather.

My sports watching this weekend goes something like: Giro, Liverpool men playing their local rivals, All Blacks playing their local rivals, more Giro, Arsenal women playing their local rivals, Tour of Flanders, International Swimming League. 

No exercise for me recently: birthday celebrations, tiredness from new job, joy of time of the month etc. Hoping to get back running on Monday (with a warm up ride before/cool down ride after), and to rugby training on Wednesday. 

Have a fab w/e all and don't forget to vote (when it's your turn!)

90’ of riding on the bike trails near my parents house. This week was on the tri bike, as their trail is paved. Had a lot of fun!

Reached my goal of running 35k this week. Feels great! I’ll do it again next week!

Sadly no swimming (lake too cold and can’t be arsed to go to the pool) and no cycling (no excuses, other than I don’t want to)

Not quite recovered from my collarbone break mind you, swimming is probably not a good idea, and last time I bike it was not very comfortable. X-Ray tomorrow... hopefully it will be good news this time...

Saph How did you enjoy the rugby this weekend? Much more enjoyable game from my point of view. And how good is Caleb Clarke, he's going to be a big boy when he finishes growing up.

Gretchen Nice job getting back on the TT bike. Switching the single speed from a flat bar to TT position made a huge difference to my enjoyment... There is something fun about being down in the aero position.

Nathalie Good job meeting your running goal for the week. And hope the Xray gives you the news you want.

Me 7 hours 40 minutes for my 'rest' week this week.

S: x 2, 2,250m 55 minutes. Fridays swim felt really good. I'm being generous with the breaks between intervals at the moment, but still really felt like I'm making progress here again.
B: x 4, 4 hours 40 minutes.
R; x 2, 2 hours 5 minutes.

And finally, looking back at my past log, I've gone past my total hours for all of 2019 this week. In fact, 2020 is already my biggest year (in terms of time) since 2013. Although that may say more about my inconsistency over the years, it does make me feel confident about Ironman next year. The base is going to be way stronger than it has been in years.

X-Ray didn't show much improvement since the last one (5 weeks ago) and the doc talking about surgery, even if he is not too keen on it, (me neither needless to say). So we decided to give it a little more time and see what it looks like in a couple of months.

I can use my arm as usual, can run, play golf and drums so it's not too bad but I can't swim (well, maybe I can, I haven't tried) and it's painful most of the time.

Sorry to hear that Nathalie. Are you getting physio?

This week I did a 'run' with a mate from rugby, and have training tomorrow night. Might try and do a ride at the weekend too. I am also off to my folks to watch our equivalent of Dancing with the Stars on Saturday night, so that should be fun.

Hour threshold ride, followed by a 30’ run with three 20” strides. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be adding in strides, even if they are only 20 seconds!! Z2 running has been getting super boring lately.

Sappho, I got to watch some rugby while eating at an Irish pub in Indiana near Notre Dame University! It’s intriguing, I do not know the rules of this game (though one of my roommates in college played on our college team) so it looked like controlled chaos to me. Haha.

We have officially moved just over two weeks ago (I was only there for two days before I had to head out to work but got the kitchen up and running). I just had four more days off and spent half of one day starting to set up the “dame den.” - okay, exercise room according to my boys. Hahaha. My husband said he wouldn’t work out until it was done so that was my goal.

I forgot to mention workouts. Nothing big but have managed four days in a row of running, core work, weights and lots of walking. My goal is to get some of my lost consistency back. I just got to Dallas and I believe there’s a gym near by that’s open I can use and it has spin bikes. Here’s to hoping it’s a go.

One hour VO2 max ride this morning, including six 2’ intervals of 105-110% FTP. It was tough, but very doable. An hour later and my thighs are still burning a little! Later on, 30’ run with some strides worked in.

Same run goal as last week for me (almost, replacing one 5k with one strength session and running one extra k on Sunday).
Bummed about the shoulder but trying not to let it bring me down. Yes, getting physio.

Jenn—I totally missed your post about the move! Congratulations!! What DIY projects do you have planned (once you’re all unpacked)?!? Or...is that just me? :D

Rest day for me and I’m kinda bummed about it. It might be the last nice day for an outdoor ride for a while (looking at the forecast), but I try to stick with my plan as close as possible. I had three days of hard workouts with increased intensity, so I need the day physically. I am, however, taking the chance to enjoy what might be my last morning of breakfast and coffee on the patio (at least without a jacket), so maybe this rest day thing ain’t so bad!

Nice day of training with a 1:15 bike, including 2x10’@105% Ftp and 2x15’@85%. I could have ridden all day at 85%. It gets great! Later in the afternoon there was a 45’ run, but that wasn’t as great. One of the neighbors was burning wet leaves and there was so much smoke. I actually ended up coughing so hard I was gagging during the cool down. At least it was the cool down.

Whatcha all got on tap this weekend?

50’ run today with 2x10’ in Z4. That was tough, but fun (I guess...). Then I took my dog for a 30’ walk. She’s still super slow, but can go a little further each day.

Another off-season strength training plan week in the books.  Also got in three bike rides and three swims, with a 1' PR on the bike (testing) and a sub-:40 off-the-wall 50y swim for the first time.  I bought some strength training fins and they're really helping with my timing mechanism on the kick (or more accurately for me, get my drag-inducing foot and lower leg up out of the water).  Two Bikram Yoga sessions plus three more strength and core sessions.  About 10 hours overall. 

I've also started swinging a golf club, which I haven't done in four years (pre-back surgery...).  I'll work on hitting some balls on the range next month when we're down in Hilton Head.

Andrew, seems like your training is going great, other than that weekend of politics and sports. I'm sure you didn't lose too much progress. Do you have any races coming up? Are you our only person in season at the moment? When is your IM?
Mike and Gretchen, you both seem to be crushing it as always!
Saph, good luck getting back into running after giving your body a bit of a break!

Like Jenn, I'm working on getting back into consistency. This has been my struggle all summer, but has actually been pretty good lately. Most days I at least do a youtube video or two (strength or yoga or some stretching). I also recently asked my boss if I could take long lunches and do runs in the middle of the day since winter is coming and I'm dreading being in my house all the time. I started doing that the last couple weeks and it's been awesome. I can definitely feel a huge difference in my mood on days I get out during lunch. Need to definitely make it a habit even when it starts getting cold.

I've also been working on cleaning out my basement (have a storage unit) so I can demo and begin my renovation. Got a new AC and furnace last week, which was step number 1. My goal for the basement is going to be extra working space for as long as my roommate still lives here, and turning it into an awesome gym/spare living room/spare bedroom after she moves out. I want to either get a good trainer for my bike or buy a stationary bike (maybe even splurge on a peloton?! Who knows) so I have a nice, cool space and can stay consistent in the winter months.

Another solid/consistent week in the books for me.

Swim, x 2, 2,300m 55 minutes
Bike, x 4, 5 and a half hours
Run, x 3, 3 and a half hours.

Just under 10 hours for the week.

We've just finished a long weekend, Other than my workouts it was spent re arranging the house in preparation for child no. 2s arrival in December. Mrs Bullfrogs office is now Mr 3's 'big boy room' with dinosaur curtains and a flash new race track play mat, so he's very excited. And the nursery now has a new internet port and is a temporary office until maternity leave starts. Got to be honest, crawling around under the house running cables is not my favorite. I would not have made it as an electrician.

Hope everyone else had a productive week.
