Fielding - 2008-03-05 11:57 AM Terri, yay! That's fantastic that you got up so early to get started. And wow, 5 a.m., that's not fooling around. (Although I worry for you having to get up even earlier so as not to be late. That's...disturbingly early. That's bedtime!) I love how I feel when I work out in the morning -- I'm basing this off of one 8 a.m. run, two races, and many backpacking trips -- but it's just so hard. Keep at it! I'm in a rest week, but I've got an hour on the stationary bike tonight. Next week I'm taking my bike in for a proper fitting. It's way past time that I did that, and my hands were getting numb during my race so obviously something's off. I'm also going to go clipless finally. I really hope I don't DIE. What's everyone else got on today?

CLIPLESS! SUPER GOOD LUCK!!!

You'll probably have beginner's luck, so don't worry about it. And if ya fall, ya fall, post pics of the aftermath.

Thanks. I normally go to bed at 9 since I get up at 5:30 so I'm getting plenty of sleep. Of course, Starbucks on the way home helps

MrsUSMC - 2008-03-05 10:52 AM I got up at 5 and went to the gym this morning! Woohoo! I forgot to calculate in the amount of time needed to change afterward, plus the traffice wanting on base when I returned, so I need to get up and leave earlier. I'm trying to swim and treadmill as many days a week as I can. Tomorrow is the treadmill. I've changed orthotics and am hoping it won't leave me limping around the office all day. I have my water bottle freezing though, just in case. I have to admit I feel so vibrant! I don't know if it's a sense of accomplishment, the adrenalin after exercising or what, but bring on the day! I'm hoping this works out because Monday and Tuesday both had something happening that kept me from going after work and I was very aggravated.

WTG Terri!

We are very proud of you

I'm starting to feel human again - thank goodness

My boss did the nicest thing for me - you can check out my blog for details if you'd like

I will probably not be doing any training for a few more days - I need to make sure this nasty crud goes away completely!

I'm not feeling very lucky lately, so expect lots of photos!

Beth, I'm so glad you're starting to feel better. Now off to read your logs...

I just remembered that it's daylight savings this weekend. YAY! I can finally start riding my bike after work!

Although that means we lose one of our precious vacation hours in Disneyland.  Oh well, their schedules will be messed up anyway....

I got my Team Javelin uniform today, and also a major haircut.  Some pix in my album of that but here's one of me and my mini-teammates (TJ sent shirts for the boys).  I had an amazing day of scheduling insanity but managed not only a 90 min (25 mile) ride but a 1 mile swim!  And a haircut.  Yes, a good, long day. Here's the pic. (Yes, Spencer likes big boobs).

I love the hair, Leslie! And your teammates are adorable. Actually, you're all adorable -- the uniform is fantastic and you look like a pro. You're going to be so fast in it!

Nice job getting in all those miles today.

Aww, look at those proud smiles! Very nice picture!

I managed to get to the gym again this morning. I'm so glad I changed my orthotics back. I'm trying to get to the superfeet store by me and take in the ones the doc gave me to see if they can match the arch. My old ones fit my shoes so much better and I can tell a huge difference between the two. I'm still trying to figure out my time, but I managed 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning and didn't feel rushed getting ready for work.

Wow! You are amazing! I don't remember the last time I got up early in the morning to work out ... and it's so wonderful to hear that your workouts are invigorating you.

Wow, you sound very positive!  I know if I work out in the morning it makes the rest of the day fly by with ease instead of wondering when I will find the time to work out! However, I don't do it as early as you do!!  I need to go pick up my replacement running shoes later on although I won't be able to use them until next week sometime.  I had a great run this morning--I did a mile in 7:50 but then I slowed myself down....it was my long run and I may have passed out to keep that pace up....but it's progress, and I have a new goal of a 7-min mile by the end of tri season!

It's the endorphins! LOL

I'm job hunting very aggressively right now. I'm trying to get back close to where I live. If that happens then I won't have to go to the gym so early. Right now I need to leave my house no later than 7:30 to commute an hour to work. I'm very week when it comes to getting myself talked out of working out. I feel rather decadent knowing that I can go home and do nothing if I so desire, since I've already been to the gym! LOL

Leslie, you look radiant and what wonderful boys!!! Take after mum they do. I am thinking of you and wishing you joyous and safe times in Disneyland!!!

I'm off for the longest ride of my life. I'm trying to think of it as my own personal Disneyland (I'm even bringing a camera) and adventure!

Hey all!  Sorry no time to catchup tonight, but I wanted to at least drop by quickly.  Hope you are all doing well . . . I will get in here tomorrow to read one way or another!!!

I have  a rest day tomorrow, so I'm going to head to the LBS and test drive some bikes!  I think I am going to have to stick with my original plan to do my first tri in Texas on Apr 13 . . . so I need a bike to start practicing with!!

Not much else going on here . . . FROZE my butt off today (no, not literally, I wish!) trying to do a long ride at 35 degrees . . . swamped at work and trying to keep up on training . . . that is all!

TTYL!

Nice ride, Shawn! I'm with Yanti -- two hours is *awesome*, any way you look at it.

I've been a little out of sorts the past few days after my race, but I'm on my way back now, so I'll be back in posting form. So what's everyone up to today, or even this week? I know our Leslie's getting a great Disneyland workout. I've got a 45-minute recovery run scheduled for tonight (it's not really supposed to be a recovery run, but after yesterday's two-hour bike I kind of need it).

Okay, I suck...I've been gone for so long, but the dissertation was KILLING me and something had to be cut from my ridiculously busy life.  Unfortunately it was posting here.

Well, the final dissertation draft was turned in this morning, so I'M BAAAAAACK!!!!  I hope you will take me back since I've been MIA for so long!

Guess what?  I've got my FIRST triathlon THIS WEEKEND!!!!!  I am scared shitless.  I am especially terrified by the bike.  I feel really confident with the swim and the run.  I won't be fast, but I won't be embarrasingly slow.  I just haven't had time to get out on the 'real' bike and have never ridden it as long as I will need to this weekend (I have on the trainer and on a stationary, just not on the road).  There is nowhere around here to ride, so when I go on the road it's a lot of stopping and starting.

Any advice from you more experienced triathloners?  What do you wear?  I am especially worried about this while riding the bike wet from the swim.
