3 more miles in the books.

I had salad bar for lunch...a green salad with veggies & feta, and then some tuna salad and chicken pasta salad.

And I bought a big gooey brownie to eat this afternoon to celebrate my birthday early. Because my hubby never thinks to get me a sweet treat for my birthday since I normally eat pretty well. Booger.

Catching up on a few topics:  Things I've given up....not tri related but I stopped eating meat, poultry, fish about 2 years ago.  Don't really miss it.  It's not always easy getting enough protein, especially when I travel, but I feel great.

Ohhh, another thing I gave up was soda.  Used to knock off a six pack of diet coke a day.  Was pretty hard at first, but don't miss it at all now.

My favorite"event"/ discipline...I'm not really sure.  I think I like them all for different reasons and dislike them all for different reasons...

Initially it was swimming, but i've come to not really like lap swimming that much...and I would've said I hated running...but it's not been so bad lately.  And biking is one of those things that I've done off and on throughout my life...

Yeah, see now I don't trust you at all. People who give up diet soda have some sort of super-human willpower. (3 or less diet Pepsi's a day, unless I'm in a bad mood, then it's more like 6...but after giving up so much else to lose weight I will NOT give those up. Ever.)

....and then there was the pet question.  I have 2 cats.  One is 18 years old.  Great story.  About 4 months ago I called the vet to schedule an appt because he was acting just a bit off.  I was thinking she'd see him that weekend.  She said bring him in that night, that she didn't like the sound of things.  Well, his systolic pressure was 280 (normal is in the 140 range) and both retinas were detaching.  He was essentially blind.  We got him on meds for the htn that night, and then got the underlying disease (hyperthyroidism) under control.  The best part is that he regained almost all of his sight.  She was floored.  Said she'd never seen one get it back.  Well, the reason is that she insisted I bring him in that night and stayed late to see him.  One majorly cool vet.

My other cat is a street thug trying to go straight.  Some days are better than others.

I'd have a gazillion pets, including dogs if I didn't travel so much.

I have 4 DC's in the fridge, just in case.  We all have something we're unwilling to let go of....mine is a very nice while chilling in the fridge.

Favorite event:  initially it was biking.  Now it is swimming.  I took a Total Immersion workshop a few years ago, then another one last January.  That one with Terry L.  And I live close enough to the TI swim studio in New Paltz that I've gotten up there a few times for lessons in the endless pool (swim lessons are my favorite present).  So now I love to swim.  Am still incredibly slow, but I think sometimes I could swim forever without getting tired.

I don't think I'll ever love running.  I might go so far to consider it a necessary evil to the sport.

Favorite TV shows...also a House fan.  Guilty pleasure:  watching Real Housewives of NJ.  Gawd they are aweful.  And, when it's on The Biggest Loser.  Still ticked that Helen won.

Hi guys. Haven't checked in lately - busy juggling kids and work...gotta love summertime!

Last book I read was Ultra Marathon Man by Dean Karnazes. The man is a total machine - very inspiring but the things he subjects himself to are totally WACKED!! Just started a book by Jillian ?? from Biggest Loser about metabolism. Haven't made it far enough to recommend yet.

Lunch today ws tuna salad roll-up and some grapes. It is VERY hot here and I have been having some fatigue but I think it is heat-related so trying to get out early or very late in the evening.

I like watching Biggest Loser but more for the training advice and challenges that they do and and less about the reality of it all. My husand calls it "mindless tv" which is true but if I watch anything too thought-provoking then I have trouble sleeping!! (zzzz...)

Gotta be getting close to the top...

Anybody got any special plans for Father's Day this year? I am trying to think of a really nice breakfast to cook but can't think of anything different. Any suggestions?

What about vacations this summer?

We are staying close to home but mainly b/c my kids just want to do some local camps and stuff. Beach and pool daily, Disney and SeaWorld a few times each month. No big trips planned but I am going to Colorado in July for a conference....I LOVE Colorado and would move there in a heartbeat!!

** Summer Page Toppage! ** Gotta get back to work now!

Holy Moly! You all are chatty today.
I am out of the office today and tomorrow and then DH and I are scoping some cabins out for the weekend. I won't be back until Sunday. THEN, we are having our annual boat party in the middle of the lake for the solstice. I cannot imagine how many posts I will miss by then.
