elcaminobill - 2010-08-11 10:28 AM 1:40 swim plan, 1:30 if all goes great
6:30 bike plan, 6:10 if all goes great
4:45 run plan,  4:30 if all goes great
with total transition of 10 or less.

13 hour finish would make me cry tears of joy, WILL NOT EAT THE PASTE!!!!!!!!!!

Bill,
I'll be with you on the swim/bike.  Can't hang with the run, though.

I'm looking at this:
1:30 swim, 1:15 if the planets align
6:30 bike; 6:05 if the planets align
5:40 run; 5:00 if the planets align

This puts me sub-14, which is slower than originally planned but realistic given what my training has consisted of due to injuries, etc.  Sub-13 if the planets align and I'd be ecstatic!  Not counting on that, though.

I'm counting on finishing; everything else is gravy!

I'm not able to make any heat based time predictions until I set foot in KY, which, by the way, is in 15 days.

FINISH!  Of course I want to do as well as I can, but that is the only real goal.  Everything else is gravy for my first IM.  Oh, and have fun doing it!

Its my second, so I know what hell I'm in for! especially after the scorcher that was my half in June.  But I'm looking forward  to a fun, looooooong day.

I'll admit, the non wetsuit swim in hot water has me a bit freaked out though!  Did we find out if there are any practice swims?  when I went to see the swim course,  I was convinced it couldn't be the right spot...but I think it was.

I'd love to meet up Thursday, if anyone is around.

I thought the schedule has the practice swim Saturday morning close to the Joes crab Shack.

After doing 5:32 in my first 70.3, my eyes lit up with sub 12.  Now, my time rises a minute or two each day.  Who knows what THAT DAY will bring.

I'm living in the heat.  Yesterday's run, although short, was in a 105 heat index.  Last weekend's ride was 101 heat index.  That said, I'm hoping for cooler weather.

X2 while I am biking and running in this horrible heat I would much welcome even 80degrees!

The goal for me is to finish, but I would be lying if I said I didn't have a time in mind.  I'd rather not share that time in case of failure ;-)

Were you at the docks just to the right of Tumbleweed? If so then that's the right place!

When you say meet up Thursday, do you mean this week (tomorrow)? I could probably make that, what time?

I am hoping for 1:10 Swim, 6:15 bike and the run is a complete guess.  I want to go sub 13 hrs total so this leave me in the neighborhood of 5+ hr mary.  I have no heat to train in so I have been running is sweatshirts and doing anything I can to get used to heat.  I don't deal well with heat as I sweat really bad so that is the only thing that scares me.

1:15 swim
6:30-7:30 bike
4:30-??? run

If the planets aligned and it was not hot, I might be able to finish under 14 hours. However, if it is hot, there is no telling how long it could take.  I'm not going to look at my speed on the bike.  It's all about taking it easy and keeping cool.  Just like Greg said, NO EATING THE PASTE.

I'm in! last year after I finished I had the plan to have a few beers but after 1.5 i was feeling it. I guess a dehydrated body makes for a cheap date. There is nothing more fun than 4th street @ 11:00Pm to midnight. The crowd is awesome.

Update: the bridge will be open Monday, 3pm ribbon cutting, it's opening early for the start of the school year. Now if WTC gets it's head together and goes back to the original route.

Saw an email at work today, they (we) are delaying the bottling of the race day water by a few days, because of an algae bloom in the river, and have had a few taste and odor complaints. Nothing to worry about we have been feeding carbon for a few days and it should clear up by the weekend. River conditions are still great, temps. are supposed to start backing off next week.

Hey timdude, since your local, where would be a good place for us to have a BT meet up on the Friday before the race?

Thanks for the good news about bridge and semi good news about the river.

Yeah.  I thought the same thing.

Hopefully if we push it he won't have time to shower and grab a bite to eat before we finish.

What is on everyone's training schedule for this weekend?  I'm having a hard time just trusting the plan and want to compare to what others are doing.

I've got a brick on Saturday consiting of a 65 mile ride / 6 mile run.  Sunday is a 6 mile run and an over distance swim.  Does this sound about right?

My psyche is evenly split into thirds right now.  1/3 says I'm on track just trust the plan.  1/3 says it's taper time and I need to recover and this weekend seems a bit much.  1/3 says I've got a lot of work to do and I'd love to get in another big weekend and I should push for more this weekend.

I also had my first IM dream last night...let's just say it didn't go well.

I only have a 2 1/2 hour bike/ 1 hour run brick Saturday( Sunday's my off day). Everything I've read says you need to let your body heal from here on out. Your plan does seem heavy. I would err on the side of rest. You've done all the hard work and won't gain any endurance at this point. Listen to your body.
