My last 3 hour ride of the plan is complete. I met up with the RD and we road the race course this morning. It is really a fun course. Mostly flat but there are a few hills that really make you have to work, especially when a pack of 4 dogs is chasing you on the way up!

After the ride the plan called for a 20 min run. Ouch - it was 94 degrees by then and completely sunny. I would have rather gone back out on the bike for another 56 miles than start that run but I did it. It was pretty bad though. My heart rate could not adjust to the heat. If it is this hot on race day I will be doing a lot of walking and that sucks! My legs felt good, energy felt good, wasn't nauseous or bloated, just couldn't run slow enough to control my heart rate.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

It's DUMPING buckets here today. I think my house is going to float away if this lasts much longer.

Warm and sunny today, mid to upper 80's.  Ran 5 miles around the Lake.  Also rode part of tomorrows local tri course to see all the bikers!  I will be there to watch the swim start in the morning.  Baseball game/Picnic with friends tonight.  Gotta love this time of year!

Nice job on the ride.

BTW, when 4 dogs are chasing you all you have to do is not be the slowest person in the group and your golden lol

Surprisingly enough I was not the slowest person today!

Good weekend indeed & I wish it was another 3 day version.  Got in a great bike today that was sandwiched between two little 25 minute runs.  Also finished painting our dining room & cut the grass today.  I will sleep well tonight.  Have a good Sunday evening my mentor peeps!

31 mile ride this evening.  First time back on bike since the IM.  Legs feel a little sore but otherwise doing good.  I work the next 7 days (uggh!!!) and lots of meetings so back to the late night/early morning challenges if I'm to get much done this week.  Hope everyone is doing well and has a great upcoming week!!!!

Way to go Jason! Looking forward to more details on your race!

I ate and drank way too much this weekend. Next weekend will be more of the same...better get a few workouts in this week! I'm definitely the type of person who needs a training schedule to keep me honest!

Just got back home.  Sad such a fun trip had to end, but looking forward to starting up training again.  Legs feel pretty good.  A little stiff, but I was expecting worse.

Definately going to swim at masters class tomorrow...especially to congratulate one of the guys who KQ'd by finishing 2nd in his AG.  Guy who finished first didn't want the spot.  Pretty amazing since he didn't even taper for the race.  Coure 'd Alene is is A race later this month.  He also did Oceanside 70.3 earlier this year without tapering and finished 3rd in his AG...which got him a spot in Vegas for the 70.3 WC.  So he'll be racing both World Championships this year.  He's KQ'd 7 times prior...but I think this may be the first time he's willing to do both.  I'm sure the change in venue had a lot to do with it.

Still finishing up my RR...and waiting for a few more details to be posted on AG and OA rankings for the individual events before I post it.

Hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend.

So, I've been rather MIA lately because I'm dealing with a lower back issue and I'm not good at being injured and I tend to shut down a bit.  I kind of participated in Rev 3 Quassy but did not run because because my back was not co-operating.

My bike was fine (the course is super hilly about 4400 feet of climbing over the 56 miles), I hit my watts target (180) and my HR target (149-151) and felt really good except for the fact I couldn't stand up straight when I got off the bike.  Nice to pace the bike well, not so nice to not be able to run (or rather not be able to run after biking -- I have no problem running so long as its not preceded by a bike).

Only good thing is that I knew pretty early on that the run wasn't going to happen so I ended up stopping 4 times on the bike to help others -- I ended up giving a away a pair of tire levers, a tube and a CO2 cartridge plus a stop at a water stop to get them to call in for a sag vehicle for a guy waiting on the side of the road.  At least I was useful.

I'm really not good at dealing with injuries (and my physical therapist creeps me out, which makes me not want to go to PT) and I'm not good at talking about them because I don't want to turn things into a pity party.

I have been MIA as well as I was in Placid for 6 days on a training trip and then had a wedding to go to.

Placid was great - was able to get in some good quality training.

It's kind of long...so feel free to skim through it or grab a sandwich or something before you start reading.

Jason, congratulations!  Very good race report.  Must have felt awesome passing so many people on the run.  I've made the mistake too may times trying to push hard on the bike and then falling apart on the run.  This is a good reminder for me to maintain my patience on the bike and the rewards on the run will come

I thought the same thing when I read the race report. I am going to be thinking about that during my HIM.

So last night I had a crummy ride. Just 1 hour but I really did not feel like doing anything at all. It was hot and windy and I had a bad attitude. My average pace was only 16.5 mph.

This morning I turned around and road again. I had to hurry to get home so my husband could get to work on time. I kept watching the clock and riding harder, no wind, better attitude - 19.3 mph. Sheesh what a difference a few hours can make!

Way to come back and have a good workout!  We all have those 'bad' days and you just have to shake it off and let it go.
