The Stick works for me for general muscle recovery - loosens up the quads and calves and hammies. But it doesn't get the ITB or my hip or whatever it is that is hurting. Hence the foam roller.

Yep.  That's what's been my problem, too.  I got the roller and if I use it regularly, it actually helps me.

It's a big piece of round foam and you lay on your side and roll on it to loosen up your ITB.

Yup - just got it, so I'm hoping that it starts to get things to loosen. Though I am going to the dr on monday, so hopefully a visit with specialist will soon follow, which may lead to a visit with another specialist who can torture me for 30 minutes or so and make me cry like a little girl, but when they're done, I will be all better

Oh sweet. I'm good at those.

UPS man brought my aero helmet today. I'm shooting for the slowest triathlon ever completed by someone with such a pimped-out bike.

Rules of TAN:

1. No pictures - it eats the bandwidth on the site.

2. No "LOL" - just cuz it's lame

3. What happens in TAN, like Vegas, stays in TAN. NO talking about TAN convos in other threads. Similarly, no bashing non-TAN folks or other threads.

4. We kill each TAN after about 85 pages, so the mods allow us to continue to do them. They get big, otherwise.

5. Don't say anything to get the thread yanked.

Hopefully.  So far the roller has been keeping my issues in check enough that I haven't had to go to PT or anything.  It helps that one of the big problems (bike fit) is fixed now, so it's getting less aggravated.

Well, my right hip - the side where the issues are - has always been the tighter one. I noticed it when I danced back in college. And I'm not sure exactly where the tightness stems from. So it might take some PT or ART to get that all worked out. It's also weaker, in general - my left quad and calf are slightly bigger than my right, though it's only something I would notice.

Could be a lot of things.  You should just have muscle imbalance or there could be some underlying biomechanical thing.

I had a sports med doc figure out that my right hamstring is way weaker than my left.  Never would have guessed it.  I have to work on things like that.

It sucks, but it's very worth it to have someone figure out the things and do the work to help fix it.  I felt like I was starting over last year.

Yeah, at least I'm glad that I'm pretty aware of my body and how it moves. I thank years of dance for that. At least I can tell the doc exactly what hurts, where, when and how.
