Thanks for all the great input everyone.  I am leaning towards riding the course a couple of times.  Hope to see some of you out there.  Laughing

I am so exceited for the race; where is the closest hotel to the beach?

I don't think we can help you out with beaches...now, if you don't mind rocky shores, we have plenty of those     Hilton Monona Terrace is right at the start, but surely filled by now.

Weather?? Well a few years ago it was cold and rainy, and before that it was in the upper 80s and humid. Hard to say. The last two years have been nice. Hope we get that also!

I was just looking at the race talk and we have 70 BT members doing IMWI at this time.  That has to be up there in the BT IM record books?

As far as hotels, I would start at the website.  You may be out of luck for now, though.  All hotel bookings are done through the IM website.  However, there are hotels in the area that can be found that are not part of the official program and really aren't that far away.  Also, since the way they book hotels, many become available 2-3 weeks before the race, but that can be risky.  Good luck with that.

Weather is a crapshoot.  Anywhere from 40-90 deg they have seen in the 8 years.  Rain, wind, humidity are all possibilities.  Birkie will keep us updated as we get closer to race day (say w/in 100 days or so?).

Anyone else struggling with training this winter? My motivation has hit rock bottom and I am battling my third cold of the season. I have an HIM in 11 weeks as well. Ugh. I'm hoping to snap out of it soon. Time's wasting.

I am, without a doubt, struggling with motivation as well. I'm going to start working with a coach which should hopefully help to light a fire under my butt. It's definately a struggle during these cold days of winter. Runnin on a treadmill gets incredibly boring.

Just curious, out of the 70 BT people doing IMWI, who are first timers compared to others that have done an IM.

i am right there with you.  i can't see the treadmill anymore.  and my legs are shivering when they see the bike trainer.  I can't wait getting outside.  Living in MN, this won't be before New Orleans HIM.  I will see you there though....and in WI too.

Third time.  06 and 08Smile  But I also am suffering from this winter blues.  I finnally was able to get in the H2o today and that seemed to be a step in the right direction.
