Not sure when I'll get out there, but def by the meeting time. It stays light long enough that we could at least bang out some of it, if not all. Plus all I really want to know tonight is when my swim start is. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good race, lol yeah transition was a mess. My bike is very muddy. Swim was good didn't see too much jamming up in the lanes, and the bike and run courses were pretty wide open. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() dalessit - 2010-03-27 5:28 PM Good race, lol yeah transition was a mess. My bike is very muddy. Swim was good didn't see too much jamming up in the lanes, and the bike and run courses were pretty wide open. Yeah. Transition screwed me. I can't wait to see my splits, I bet I spent close to 5 minutes in transition overall due to bad choices and some mud. Swim was great, I was right after a scheduled break and killed it - perfect swim for me. Bike was pretty good but I was not expecting headwind coming back in (that's unusual out there - normally a tailwind). Run was fine, that's a pretty nice 5k course once you get past the twisties. Unusual for my experience with Setup Event races was the bad volunteers doing some areas. The ones manning the mount/dismount line did NOT enforce it at all, I saw close to 50% of people at one point riding right past dismount 10 feet into T. I THINK I saw meherczeg, but not sure. Definitely saw Momo. |

Word. That wind was a toughy. I didn't spend enough time biking outdoors this winter (duh, wonder why!) so I was just not ready for it. I thought I saw you because you had pink bar tape, but I was getting ready to leave transition to go line up for the swim. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It was a good first tri for me. Sorry I didn't get to meet anyone. Swim sucked for me. Let the guy behind me (a foot taller than me) pass me, then ended up swimming up his when he got stuck behind several others. (There was some awful ugly swimming--if you can call it that--out there.) Banged the crap out of my knee getting out of the pool. Other splits went about as expected. I didn't like that the race volunteers let people mount before the line, and dismount way after. Wasn't fair, created jams in the transition chute and came close to creating some crashes. And the mud--spent an hour cleaning it off of all the gear today. What can I say? I had a blast! What's next? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Definitely! Next in line are Tidewater Sprint in June and Colonial Beach in July. Might do Kinetic Sprint if I can get up to a respectable bike speed for 18 miles. (Saturday was my fourth bike ride ever.) |

I don't care if you can't swim, but don't seed yourself up with the 1:45/100 group! SHEESH! |

Last year I had to swim over 6 or 7 people. It was awful, I was about 7 people before the next break, so there was plenty of backlog. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() There should be a time penalty for people that don't finish within a certain range of their estimated time--and definitely for people who clearly can't finish in the estimated time--like the guy who would wind up and windmill like crazy, then switch to breast stroke to get a breath, then wind up again.... And I think I also saw the dog paddler, taking alternating breaks on his back.... |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the offer, but I'm several hours away from Norfolk. And still pretty wobbly on the bike--I'm afraid if I went on a group ride now, I would take out all of the VA BTers with me! That said, I bit the bullet and signed up for the Kinetic Sprint. Guess I'll have to get that mph up now! |
