Straying into the topic of my past dangerous J-walking...

I once (as a teenager) J-walked mindlessly in the middle of a parade (intentional, I said I was a teenager...) but there just happened to be men swinging swords coming up and I got pulled out of the way by another bystander.

Those crazy kids these days...

Yikes!

I was jaywalking in Frankfurt and didn't realize they had a very QUIET light rail train system.  I knew there was a train since I was crossing tracks, but didn't realize it was so fricken fast and quiet.  It went so closely behind me that I could feel the woosh.  I expect the train driver soiled his pants.

Quick question ...? In the scoring post, 20+ mph wind is worth 4 points but in the metric version 32+ kph wind is worth only 3. Mistyped perhaps?

I'm considering joining in. It's too warm here today but the wind is up there. I'm not sure where the weather feed in my log comes from but the accuweather site for my town says we're in the top scoring bracket for wind since noon today.

You have to blame Melissa - I don't do conversions

Whatever you figure it out to be we trust you!

Aww... I messed up. Is there any way to get a moderator to sneak into the post and correct it because I can't change it now. Otherwise I can repost it on this page. Sorry!

Not happy with the start to this challenge, beautifully cold weather and I have to work, so I am racking up nothing. By the time I got out this afternoon it was in the mid 40's and clear. When I went to work at 5:00 AM it was a nice 29 and clear, what I wouldn't have done to get in a nice 30-45 min run then. By the time I get a morning to fun it will be Wed, when we have rain/snow mix and lower 30's for weather. I should be able to make up some point late in the week.

No points for me yet.  I got a training run in today but it was in the 50's with no wind or rain to speak of.

O.k.  I'm a couple of days late to the party, but I'm in.  No points yet - went running this a.m. but it was 40 degrees.  No wonder I felt so comfortable!

Frankly, I can't stand the winter so I would be just as happy if I end up in last place due to mild weather, but hopefully this will get me out the door!

It was cooler than expected this morning -- 30*!  Tomorrow I'll have to get out the door a little earlier when it's still 29*

Couldn't score anything yesterday, it was just too nice.  This morning was 35 for my whopping 7 minute commute into work.  At least I am on the board.

I'm IN! I finally stopped hating living in Michigan the second year I was here ('08) when I started running outside during the winter. Embrace the suckage and be happy. Not sure that came out right.

Would someone mind checking my math to see if I'm using the formula right?

11/1 = 67min x (1pt for 26 degrees + 1pt for 7mph winds) = 134
11/2 = 24min x (3pts for 23 degrees) = 72pts
Total = 206

Also, is it the general consensus that we use the temperature it was when leaving the door (as I did here), or are we using the lowest temp it was on the run (since the temp here often drops just before dawn)?

that is so me!  My husband keeps saying to me, I thought you were getting up early. (I used to be out the door at 5 am!)  Now, I am thinking...  8 is earlier than 9!!!!  This low iron thing is taking a little longer to shake than I prefer, but little by little it will get better!

Maybe tomorrow will be a bike ride for me...I still have my slicks on, though, so I would have to borrow my husband's.

The weather lady said it was 25 at 7:30, but I took my time getting out the door and the bank said it was 32 when I ran by a little after 8,(Fortunately, for everyone here,I don't trust the weather lady, anyway, she said it was 21 yesterday when it was 9am!

This competition is very good for me, as I have been having a lot of difficulty getting up and getting out there.

Play practice tonight...I am the innkeeper's wife and I have a solo(it was supposed to be optional...should have known it wasn't!).  4 out of the 6 in our family are participating, should be lots of fun.

So, how does the temp and wind thing work.  Say you leave the house on your bike and it is 32, by the time you get back it is 50, do you still get full points?  (and vice versa, it is 50 when you leave but 35 by the time you get home)????

sorry for being a "suckage" neophyte.
