Easy to get down there? And also for spectators are they able to get in and back out okay or are a lot of roads closed down? parking was very easy and the in and out for spectators was easy as well. Remember, the race takes place by one of the largest malls in the Houston area so the parking around is plentiful. The swim start is a about a mile from transition, but it is not bad. I think there was a parking area across the street from the swim start at some company, but I chose to have my car close to transition after the race (although I walked the 1.5 miles back to our hotel). HEB is right across from transition, but I bet they will have it blocked this year.
Thanks guys for the response, my wife and friends will be glad to hear they can get around easy. Some IM's have not been as spectator friendly/ |

Expert 1274 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread As a spectator this last year I parked over by the mall I think, and then rode my mtn bike down Lake Woodlands and watched the swim start. After that we headed back to transition and caught everyone coming out of T1. Then we hopped in the car and drove down to about mile 15ish on the bike and yelled for a while. Unfortunately after that we had to head back to Houston but the view for a spectator was fairly good and easy to get around. |

Uh oh, pressure! Has anyone else noticed that any Marriot hotels in the area (minus host) have no openings/aren't releasing them till January. Odd... Yep, the Residence Inn Market Street keeps telling me the same thing. We stayed there last year and it was PERFECT! Close to race, inexpensive, and I liked having the kitchenette. Plus they had a pretty decent breakfast each morning. I did talk to someone in the know at that hotel group and found out that WTC has already reserved some space there though. I also had someone tell me the host hotel is already filled but I havent confirmed that personally. |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I read on some other site that hotels that were charging "decent" rates last year have increased their rates significantly this year. Luckily it is easy to get to so staying a mile or so away from the start won't be a problem. |

Expert 1274 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread Alright kids, I know that we are still quite a ways away but we need to kick this thread into gear! How is the training going??? Since I have essentially taken the last 2 years off I am slowly building a base. Feeling good so far, swim is def coming along, run feeling good (slow) and I still love to ride my bike. Planning on the Houston Tri sprint in Sept and then possibly the 5150 in Galveston in Oct. Come on IMTX crew! Let's hear it! |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I'm doing some training over here. Built my own BT maintenance plan and have been sticking to it and I just finished Jorge's winter maintenance program as well. My left leg is finally coming around after my awesome achilles blow out last year. The injury didn't stop me from doing IMOZ 7+ months after surgery but it's been a battle getting ol' lefty back in the game. Working towards a marathon in December to help lefty get his butt in gear for the beginning of IM training. |

51 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I'm winding down my triathlon season and heading into marathon season. One olympic to go and then 2 marathons (Detroit, Houston) and 2 half marathons (Dallas, Austin). In the meantime I'm in "maintain mode" for the bike and swim. Once Houston Marathon is over, then it's full speed ahead training for IMTX. Has anyone heard if IMTX is getting close to selling out? I remember the race organizers said it would sell out in a week. |

Veteran 189 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I have an Olympic, an HIM, and marathons before the end of the year. I may do another marathon in February. IM training starts for real the first week of the new year. Oh, and I have a new road bike to help get me through all this. It will be my first IM and I am nervous and excited even though it is still a long way off. |

Regular 134 Houston | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I have a question about the swim leg, can you stand up during the swim? Is the water shallow enough for you to stand? I read on some race reports that people were standing but is this right? I thought the lake was far to deep for you to stand in. |
