Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Walked to the voting station , On the return walk home I found my walking pace picked up as someone was walking behind me , i picked up my gait and turnover to stay ahead , i could hear the footsteps getting closer so i swung my arms more and managed to work up a sweat doing a pretty fast walk. Leftover competitive juices from the race sunday ? Ran with my dogs for 4.2 miles afterwards Dont forget to Vote today |

Expert 1260 Norton Shores, MI | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge I got absolutely dumped on this morning with rain but got through my scheduled 8 miler. I knew last night before going to bed that it was going to be a wet one. It started out a light rain and then the last half hour it downpoured. I have to admit I was pretty miserable that last 15 minutes. Same danm thing happened to me last Tuesday!! In other news my race got cancelled on Saturday due to low registrations. But.....they are having an unofficial timed race anyway for those that want to come out...for FREE! Since it is just down the road I will probably use it as the middle of a longer run...2 miles to the park - race 4.5 miles - 2 miles home. |

Similar dilemma - Big Turkey Trot around here is in downtown Dallas - like 30k+ participants - but they offer an 8 miler... my suburb has a 5k Turkey trot on Tday as well but just a 5k... I really want to do the longer distance but am not wild about the gobs of people and the extra time to get downtown, get parked, etc. I am considering just signing up for the 5k and then having my wife drop my off in the morning and then running back home (conveniently I can make a 5 mile course from the race site back to the casa) hmm... what say you challenge peeps? |

I like the smaller races with less hassle personally. 30k+ people in a 5k? Where do they all fit? You could be weaving through people the whole time. But it's all about the kind of experience you want. If it were me, I'd run the 5k, chat with folks after the finish and stretch out, then run the 5 miles home at a nice relaxed pace, reliving your PR and basking in the glory of a good hard run |

Tis Up to you , megaraces have a life of their own . Running in a giant peloton is pretty cool too. If you opt to do the local 5k trot , another option would be to arrive pretty early like an hour + before the race , register and then jog the whole course at a very easy pace , try to be done 20 mins before the actual race start. Stretch out , shed extra layers etc. Then race the 5K with a mile cool down after and you will be at 7.2 miles. Personally I would not run 5 miles after racing a 5K. My two cents anyway Good luck |

I like that idea... I think I am going local.... two-three additional hours to get to the mega race doesn't compute with me - that is time better spent eating turkey and pie |

Champion 5522 Frisco, TX | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge 9 mile long run done yesterday. Left calf acted up when I was almost all the way out to my turn around... had to stretch it and then decided I might as well run back, as it was too far to walk back to car... it was really sore later last night but much better today. Felt like a charley horse that didn't lock up like a cramp... weird...
looking for an easy 3 tonight.... |

Veteran 392 Calgary | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Just checking in - still pretty sick, but getting better every day! Darn anaphylaxis. If tomorrow continues to improve as today did, I have the go-ahead to resume exercise on Friday. Woot woot! Here's hoping tomorrow is good! I actually miss the treadmill. Never thought I'd hear myself say that, but at this time in my life I NEED some good exercise endorphins!

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Good morning everyone! Missed my run yesterday but pulled off a nice 10K today. I'm such a turtle for the most part but very pleased with today's run. It would seem I've dropped almost a minute per mile on my pace woooeeee! PROGRESS - Slow but no less pleasurable! Today is my last work day before I start my holiday - doing a bit of traveling so no clue what will happen but I am bringing my runners and am hopeful. Stay the course all and I'll check in when I'm back!! |

Someday I'll get there. http://youtu.be/TFWDUsvLCoE I LOVE watching stuff like this! I don't know if I'll ever RUN or RACE something like this but I'd be overjoyed for the opportunity to just WALK it for pleasure!! Once, while in the car with the family, we were chatting about family holidays and I said that with our child getting older maybe we can start doing more adventure type travel - so I turned to my daughter and said "Imagine how amazing it would be to go hiking and get to the TOP of Machu Picchu?" to which she responded in a really funny tone "Imagine how great it would feel when you get to the bottom". We may have to wait a few more years ha ha |
