Interesting that almost none of the TOC stage was on any of the VM route...just a bit of the connector section from loop 1 to loop 2 on Windsor River Rd and Eastside Rd. |

Master 2638 | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread My running is coming back! If not for the 3 inch wide heel blister I got racing the Beast of the East (and the resulting week with no running), I would have broken 100 miles for sure. : ) YAY!
Holy cow, I am already looking forward to the place with the Guiness floats. |

Extreme Veteran 849 San Diego | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread How is it already June?! Hahaha! Every time I post numbers, I have to remind myself not to get freaked out by everyone else's much bigger numbers! Bike: 319.37 miles 20 hours, some minutes Run: 100.79 miles 16 hours, x minutes Swim: 9700 yards, 3 h 26 min Finally started swimming again. I feel really good about the bike, good about the run and scared enough about the swim to make it a priority. I've been slacking during the week and then hitting the weekends hard. Will focus on consistency for the next 8 weeks. |

Every time I post numbers, I have to remind myself not to get freaked out by everyone else's much bigger numbers! This is exactly how I feel! Bike: 365 miles, 21.6 hours Run: 97 miles, 14.9 hours Swim: 27121 meters, 8.6 hours A great month for me other than the horrid weather at the end of my big bike week last week. There was no way I was doing another hour in wind, torrential downpour and lightning, or two more hours in high wind (gusts to 90... no thanks) and cold. Whew. And a work trip this past week slowed me down, though perhaps for good, my hip flexor is now hurting. Looks like a lower mileage week for me! |

Champion 5781 Northridge, California | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread Bike: 32h 43m 23s - 500.59 Mi Run: 17h 02m 26s - 120.84 Mi Swim: 5h 07m 06s - 18180 Yd Goals were 500 / 120 / 22,500. Got in first 100+ mile ride of the year this month and re-built my long run (post-March 18 marathon) to 15 miles. Currently on a couple weeks of recovery/maintenance/taper leading to my one and only tri this year before VM, an Oly on 6/10. My primary pool closed unexpectedly mid-month (pump failure) and still hasn't reopened. Schedule conflicts kept me from swapping out all the missed yardage to my other pool, so I lost a few 1000 yards. But...I did get in an extra two-mile nonstop pool swim (two for the month) and took a full 3 mins. off my time for 2 miles between April and May, so I feel very confident despite the low yardage...set up pretty well for my goal of 1:10 or better for the VM swim. Also did my first OW swim of the year (first swim in new wetsuit) last weekend...half mile solo in the ocean in 57F temps...pretty far cry from what the swim will be like on 7/28.

I'm in the same boat. I'm starting to hit the pool because there is this nagging feeling that my swim volume sucks! lol.
So what does everyone need to work on this month?
For me it's keeping the bike volume up, swim more often and longer, and not run too much. |

My numbers below. Finally my running is coming together after my ankle injury. I managed to survive the run at the Wildflower, and more importantly I didn't die of exhausting doing the sherpa for my wife at IMTX while babysitting my two little girls. Looking forward to returning the favor in 8 weeks
Great job everyone! Hang in there: it's almost show time |

Pro 6520 Bellingham, WA | Subject: RE: Full Vineman Triathlon : Official Thread MechEChick - 2012-06-25 10:39 AM Less than 5 weeks left. Anybody else getting excited (and really nervous)? I've been having a hard time getting excited about the race. Training is going well but I had a really tough run there last year mainly due to a strained hamstring and I've just been dreading that last half of the marathon. Saturday I did my third marathon of the year in an attempt to get more comfortable with that long of a run and felt really strong. I ached pretty bad at mile 22 and just walked/jogged the last four miles. Was happy with my run up to that point and did the right thing shutting it down as I was able to get in a nice little ride the next day of a little over 19 miles in an hour. I've never been that mobile right after a marathon so my confidence is increasing. The weather has been so bad around here this spring and early summer that my outdoor bike miles is a bit short. I've been hitting the trainer but haven't got the long rides in that I would like. Still time to ramp it up with some good focus weeks if the weather cooperates. |
