Subject: RE: Jumping June Challengewgraves7582 - 2012-06-07 12:36 PM I need some BT help challenge folks. I am not getting any younger and at times I question my insane desire to ride my bike all of the time and I am looking for a little downtime time filler. I am not artistic but would love to draw some of the scenery I saw last couple of weeks on my west coast bike ride. I do love to take pictures but that has always been wrapped up with my training and travel. Anyone have any suggestions as to the easiest way to start drawing - charcoal and paper/water colors/etc??? I discussed knitting classes with some ladies from church and they didn't have any faith that I could handle the pace. Cake decorating came up but they feared I would eat all the cake and not have anything to decorate. Those 2 are out. Maybe take my DD camera away that we bought her last year and start doing that more specified? Thanks in advance ![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif) Drawing: I personally am a big fan of pencil drawing (non-colored, mainly, but if you want color, buy colored pencils! ) using just paper, a good eraser, smudge tool, and various pencils of varying graphite hardness. But different strokes for different folks...(there is a little pun in there...) Check around your local hobby/art stores like A.C.Moore, Michael's, whoever. Sometimes they offer art classes. Photography: LOVE it. I just don't have enough time to do much with the shots I take after the fact. But the main thrill for me is to find just the right subject/shot and capture it. Again, check around for local photography classes if you don't already have a background in the art. Or find a good book. Classes are more fun and you can pick more tidbits up from other folks, too. Good luck and have fun with your new hobby! |
