That's 9 and a wake up.....    single-digit midget!  Definitely time to be doing the countdown.

The countdown has started. Willbe a new experience because we have decided to drive the trip this year instead of flying. (I'm cheap) Plus we thought since the boys have been so busy this summer already, this way we'd get to spend more time together.

I know it sounds like a good idea on paper right?

Our family has never had a long car trip together, and good or bad, I seem to remember alot more of the car trips with my folks than I do the actual vacations, but I am praying nothing crazy happens along the way!

I hope you have lots of device chargers, haha!

My parents recently took a train trip and loved it. One of those Amtrak passenger trains - left at 3 a.m. so they slept awhile (sleeper cabin), then went to the dining car for breakfast, played around on their iDevices (WiFi on the train) and just chilled while they took in the scenery. They estimated it was about the same TIME as a driving trip, but obviously everyone can sleep and zone out without having to concentrate on driving. I think that would be all sorts of fun.

That's cool!  This is the sort of thing the kids will have fond memories of when they're older.  Pack lots of books, coloring books, playing cards, etc...

Have fun!

Yeah the week is dragging on here too. Oh the joy of reviewing policy directives. At least some world cup games to start to look forward to.

It's my Friday!

Getting out of work at 3:30pm and then heading home to finish packing (and do a quick 1:30:00 trainer ride) before hitting the road to Ragnar Trail Appalachians!

Camping and trail running.... gonna be FUN!

(Bears not included, and not invited.)

It has been raining so much here in Memphis the past week that it is crazy! My 5 yr old has also been bugging me to help him catch fireflies!

So today I have bought a mason jar with a lid and as soon as it gets dark, we are going firfly hunting!  It should be fun and he has already reminded me this morning to pick up a jar at work!

They don't sting or bite do they?

What's everyone doing this weekend?

I have my first group run for the "Start 2 Finish" marathon training I signed up for. Hoping to meet some new run friends!
Might catch a movie or hang out with the 5-hour Energy reps Brian is hosting for a local golf tournament. They be crazy.. but I think that comes with their territory.

Should probably ride my bike at some point as well.

Morning... yes. Friday... yes... Good morning? That is to be determined once my brain starts to function.

Weekend plans, may give stand up paddle-boarding a try. Not much other than that...

I just ordered one of these.

Hydrobiie

We rented one these last week for a party with our high school friends.  It is a bit geeky but it was fun.  You can go a faster than a conventional paddle boat because it is propeller driven rather than a paddle-wheel.  The bike position is like a relaxed cruiser bike.  The propeller pitch and gearing give an easy effort at normal cadence like a recreational bike ride on flat ground.  I will ride a good bit.  I hope JWKMH will too.

I an impressed with the construction quality.  It is made to be durable.  I think most of these bikes are used in rentals at resorts so they need to be rugged enough for daily use/abuse.

Home from Ragnar Trail Appalachians.  My feet are dry and not pruned for the first time since Thursday night.

Holy hell, that was an experience!  Our team only had 6 instead of 8,  so we each drew an extra loop.  Torrential rains for periods of it, LOTS of mud, and some insanely technical trails.   Soooooo happy to be done running, but so stoked about having done it.  Will definitely be doing this again (just need better camping gear and planning).  Pretty stoked about how we performed, too.  With poor conditions and fewer than desired people, we still finished in under 24 hours.

LOVED the running.  The trails were just incredible - especially the Yellow Loop.  Huge stands of pine trees and "fields" of knee high ferns below a very tall canopy of tree cover that we ran through.  Sadly, I did not take a camera with me on any of my loops; I wish I had.

Thumbs up for the aqua cycle. Now time for nap.

Just a drive-by.... feeling like shyte. Completely exhausted and sore today; can't focus on work, want to go sleep.  And eat.  Can't stop feeling hungry.

Me and Jesse (5yr old son) have a new night time ritual that we have been doing the past couple of nights! About 30 minutes before his bed time, we go out and catch those fire flies in a jar! Every night we have caught about 15 and then he places them in his room and watches them until he falls asleep! It was hilarious that first night! Everytime they would blink, he would yell "Dada, their flashing again!" It is so much fun hanging out with him and doing the little stuff!

That's so cool

I got to teach the girls how to make a blanket fort in the living room last night, and then we all sat around (they in the fort/tent) eating ice cream and watching a movie before bed.   Things like that make for a very cheerful morning with the little ones.

I was shocked that they'd never done that before.

To avoid a myriad of injuries (joint pain to your knees, ankles, hips, shin splints, foot pain, bruises), it’s invaluable to find the right running shoes.
