Sandi!!! I have thought about you off and on for the last year wondering how you’ve been doing!! It’s so good to hear from you again!!! You go, girl!

Good job, Dave!! Keep it going!

Gretchen, I’m so happy you will finally get some answers. You must be chomping at the bit. You’ve been very patient.

I got my first short spin in 2 days ago - 30 min, then 15 yesterday before I had to hop a flight to work. That’s the first time I’ve been back on my bike in about 9 months! I’m hoping to get a treadmill run in tonight or tomorrow morning depending on how work goes.
I just realized I still haven’t posted a bio. I’m getting there!

Happy MLK Day, everyone.  Off from work today so trying to get some things done around the house while the girls are off doing some girls' day out thing with their cousins.  Got in a 60' trainer session this morning trying out Zwift.  It's pretty cool once you get everything working.  I'm going to start racing once a week once the Tour of Sufferlandria ends in the middle of February.  Everyone tells me they REALLY hurt.

Planning on a swim this afternoon if the girls ever make it back LOL.

Hi All:

It's time for goals of the week. Please add your goals below.

Let's take a second to talk about the power of beer. For years, we have used beer as a powerful motivating force to help us achieve our goals and to motivate us to do our best. So, with your goal, write down an award beer that you will drink once you have accomplished your goals. If you're not sure, just give yourself permission to go to the LBS (Local Beer Store (it also stands for the Local Bike Shop).

However, if you fail to meet your goals - you get what is known as a Coors Lite penalty - where you drink a putrid beer to punish yourslef for falling short. Two weeks ago I failed to meet my goal and I gagged down a warm Coors lite. It doesn't have to be a coors - just something that you wouldn't share with your worst enemy.

Also - since some of us our new - please remember to put your name at the bottom of your posts. That will help us get to know one another.

Cheers my friends.

The weekend was mostly a bust for workouts, my work pager went off 15 minutes into a short run on Saturday and Sunday I was dealing with an issue a good portion of the day. Fortunately my on-call shift ends this morning so I can get some good workouts in. For beer, I enjoyed the Firestone "Leo v Ursus: Wookus", a deliciously bitter black IPA.

Goals for the week: 2 swims,  2 short bikes, 2 short runs during the week. On the weekend at least a long trail run and hopefully a bike ride.

I was really close to my goals for last week, just fell a little short on the swimming but that was totally logistics-related.  This week is more of the same:

4:45 on the bike
4-5K in the water
1:15 on the treadmill...I think I'll do about 9' of jogging total as I ramp up the couch-to-5K
two strength training sessions

Great work everyone on the workouts!

I do want to clarify one thing from my bio, my exercise level isn't entirely zero.  It's just S/B/R that's zero...  I am treating this time as a true off season right now, however my daily goal is still 60 minutes of activity/6000 steps.  That includes walking and PT exercises.  Generally I hit this 5/7 days each week, which is good.  Today I've stepped this up a bit and I added in pushups and planks.

AND I've decided to focus on my 5k/10k distances running this year, in addition to the bike.  I don't have any plans for HM/marathon distance races until maybe (just maybe) October, so it gives me great opportunity to work on speed.  I'm not sure how much swimming I'll get to do this year, which is ok.  This is more than I thought I'd be able to do this year so life is good!

Hi all! Just finished catching up on all the posts from the weekend. I love when the year starts and this group gets more active with everyone starting to look ahead to the next season!

DQ, way to make it two days in a row! I hope you made it over the weekend, too!

John, I'm with you on the not much tri focused workouts, although I have been swimming a lot lately. I like to do strength and HIIT training year round. I think it really takes my tri training to the next level. Variety is also the spice of life

I am conflicted about my weekend. I had a really good time visiting my sister, but packed all the lbs I'd lost over the last couple weeks back on. Looking forward to eating clean this week and feeling better.

I did make it to masters on Friday morning. We did time trials, and I had probably the worst time trial I've had since joining this team, so that is no bueno. Made it again last night. The workout crushed me but I like Mondays b/c they are only an hour long, lol. We did some drills, then did 12x100yd on 1:50. I was the slowest in my lane, so was hitting around 1:35 and didn't get much rest, so was struggling by the end. Then we did 16x25yd sprints on 35seconds where we had to hit 18. If we missed, we sat out for 2 25s until the group got back to us. I only missed once.

I have my first swim meet of the season on Sunday down in Annapolis, so looking forward to that.

Goals for the week:
1. Workout every day, even if it's just a couple strength moves
2. Foam roll 3x
3. Intuitive eating chapter 1! It's happening!
4. Try out new trainer! I bought a used trainer, Cycleops Aluminum rollers. I haven't set it up or tried it out yet, but plan on doing so this week! I bought it for $35, so not too shabby!

So far I'm on track for my weekly goals. Last night I made it into the pool for a short 550 yards, slowly ramping back up as it's been over a year since I've done any solid work in the water. This morning was an easy paced 3 mile run. Feels good to get moving regularly again!

Already behind on swimming, but got my 75' trainer session in today.  Threshold/VO2 max intervals.  That hurt.  Snowstorm tomorrow morning so my schedule may go to hell in a handbasket, but I'll try  to keep up.

30' on the hand bike today--that thing is boring! But...it felt great to be moving!!

MRI yesterday. Still no results. Of course I googled it and now I'm obsessing over the possibility that I could have a navicular fracture. I'm so over this injury thing.

Goals for the week:
1.) restart Whole30 (I kinda fell off the wagon at my in-laws over the weekend. It is like they've never seen a vegetable.)
2.) three 30' sessions of something
3.) try not to let the first week of school crush my body or soul

Right?!

Don't know if you guys were around for Alan, but we used to have a semi-pro cyclist on BDAS and his quote about his rollers always made me laugh, something about how the dog would see them and hide because of the number of times Alan crashed into furniture while using them

Hey everyone I hope you enjoyed your weekend. It's been a little crazy here in Tennessee with all of the snow. Working on another day off from work today after another round early this morning. My goals for this week after a 26 min session on the trainer yesterday will be:

2 x Bike (hopefully one outside if weather permits)(Got a trainer session in yesterday)
2 x Run
1 x Swim (Changing this from 2 to 1 since I now have to get my workouts done at lunch as opposed to the early morning.)

Hope everyone has a great week.

Eric

I'd have been booted out of your lane, after stopping myself completely on getting zero rest on every single one.  Nice work speedy!

Yeah, that would have been a 1200 TT for me, too.  I probably JUST could have come in on like 1:45 on all of them, but I'd be toast.

Have any of you used a swim tether system or know anyone who has or has had feedback on them? I'm looking into ways to better prepare myself for the open swim...obviously OWS, but since weather, locations, and safety are issues I'm just curious about these.

^^^^^. Sandi, I have the same question! I travel 4-6 days a week now and often only have hotel pools to work in and am researching pool tether systems.

Oh no! haha I doubt I will be going nearly as fast as Alan though. I am definitely nervous to try them out. So people just fly off of them? I feel like that kind of defeats the purpose...hmmm I might have to rethink this

Went to boot camp this morning. I've also been walking a ton (I walk to and from work and most times I leave the house).
It's snowing here today but I didn't know until I walked outside to go to the gym at 5:35am so there was no turning back.

Today I went for a morning bike ride for ~30 mins and will be swimming tonight.
