Extreme Veteran 476 WI | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Wow - what a day! It's amazing to look back a few days and see it all go so fast (even though I'm not fast). Thanks to all the volunteers and supporters - it's incredible how easy you made the day (and days before and after) go for us. I had a comfortable race, no real issues except some "usual" stuff: - the boxing match that is called the "swim." My panic button went off early, but it was short. - small stomach cramp for the first 90 minutes on the bike (got it in training too), but it went away - two very small mental fortitude issues - two bloody noses Sorry to hear about some others issues and those that had to pull out of the event. That sucks, but hopefully you can use that to plan the next round. I have plenty of things to learn from - like how to intake enough calories without stopping at *every* bike aid station. What a fun and great day. I look forward to doing it again in 2012, but 2011 is hearkening for HIMs. |

Extreme Veteran 427 St. Louis, MO | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Cut mine off Monday when I got home.......done with that disappointing race. Knew going in that it wasn't going to be my best day based on the course and some home front issues that curtailed my training late in the game but.....for me IMWI was a tough day! Started out fine, had a decent swim...not sure why peeps need to stop at each buoy (not just the turns either!)...my bike setup had a few flaws that f-ed with my day (seat a bit high caused some hamstring and calf issues on the run and keeping my nutrition on my bike was a challenge...partly the road, partly worn out gear and YES I've already replaced the offending parts!)....my run became a shuffle and a run/walk by Mile 7 but I hung in and got it done..... Planned on going sub 12-ish...settled for being the last person in under 13 hours at 12:59:40-something.......IMLP 2011 best be ready, because I WILL BE!! No more IM runs like that for me!! Hope all your IM dreams came true and for those who did not make it happen this time......saddle up and go get the next one!! Edited to Add: Should have mentioned the HIGHLIGHT of my weekend.....one of my coaching clients had the day we planned for her! She WON the W50-54 AG and is headed to KONA!! And to make matters sweeter...it was the only slot in the AG...you had to win to go.....GREAT JOB BECKY! Paul Edited by Tri-Wog StL 2010-09-16 4:54 PM |

Ok how many people still have their wrist band on? :-) Same thing. Although I made it symbolic and told my wife that this year's IM journey was over and she could cut it off. For a brief second I think she considered turning the blades down a bit, but I made it out OK. Those pictures are great! It was such a beautiful morning for that swim start. I was in awe. |

There are usually little clips being sold, I think it was $20 the last time I bought one. The clip mostly has race video material, and then like 10 seconds of you crossing the finish line, with a canned "you are an Ironman!" I would have to think that we will be hearing about these soon. You can buy them before they are ready, and then they send you a URL where you can download it, once it is ready. Ok I found the site, it is GoActionVideo. I would email the folks on the contact page and see if they did our race. If you want to see a clip of one, here is my video from IMAZ08. Edited by kalalau 2010-09-16 6:09 PM |

Knew going in that it wasn't going to be my best day based on the course and some home front issues that curtailed my training late in the game but.....for me IMWI was a tough day! That's funny, mine is still on, for the same reason. Right now it's a reminder of the failure, and I'm not cutting it off until I decide what happened and what I am going to do about it, such as redeeming myself at Beach to Battleship. :-(
Started out fine, had a decent swim...not sure why peeps need to stop at each buoy (not just the turns either!)... Yeah this is pretty annoying, but for a lot of people they really have it in their heads that they need to get to the next stopping point (a buoy mostly), then look for the next one, focus on that, and get going again. It's hard to swim with those people around but they are who they are. Planned on going sub 12-ish...settled for being the last person in under 13 hours at 12:59:40-something.......IMLP 2011 best be ready, because I WILL BE!! No more IM runs like that for me!! That's not bad at all for falling apart! That's not much off your goal at all considering. Good job!

Please read - http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=227147&posts=1#M3103998 I've volunteered for IM Moo for a number of years and know some of the Captains, and have finished the race twice - '07 and '09 - thus this race means a lot to me with it being almost right in my backyard. Member 55 Milwaukee, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread This is a longshot, but if anyone managed to get a picture of the sign that said "You are really good at exercise", please post it here or send me a message. I'd love to add it to the collection. It was probably my biggest laugh of the day, so props to whoever made it! I laughed for minutes after I saw it on each loop (near the "Ironmen/Ironwomen are sexy" folks). And then to see it on State St late in the evening was just awesome. I'm sure I had a very goofy ear-to-ear grin at that point. I am really good at exercise. |
