| Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official ThreadJust a bit of advice about the practice swims.  Being in cold water depletes your glycogen levels a lot more than being in warm water.  Your body will burn more calories just trying to keep warm.  So while you might take a nice easy swim you are expending more energy that you think. It's not a big deal to do a practice swim (I did one before the race).  Just don't overtax yourself and remember to replace those calories with good sources of energy. IMHO 3 practice swims is a bit excessive.  One is enough to get you used to the shock of the cold water. Good luck! I'm excited and I'm not even racing this year... |
