We rolled into town last night after spending 3 days in Yellowstone, where we got engaged!  We did a short run along centennial trail then dipped our legs in the lake.  Brrrrrr. I think this morning we'll actually swim and then bike.  Oh yeah..... ate at Capones last night.  It was AWESOME!

My flight lands at 1:05 PM in Spokane.

Ugh, why does my life have to be like the end of a Back to the Future movie?

Slide: I land at 12:20pm on Friday and I have a car rental waiting for me at the airport. I was going to head right to race site to pick up my packet. Can give you ride if you want? Let me know. Not an issue.

That's really nice of you to offer. I'm bringing my wife and 2 babies. We're renting a car, so I'll just need to hustle them into the car and get to the site as quick as I can.

japewang - 2012-06-19 3:18 PM Has anyone got a recap of all the group workouts that are going on this week up at CDA?  According to my notes, there are swims at 7am on thursday and friday.  I'm going to ride the run course after picking up my bike from TBT on thursday.  Anything else going on?

Not a workout but, I believe we are meeting at 1 on Friday to do a drive of the bike course.

Is this a drive the run course or bike ride the run course? I figure a 26mile ride will be a good easy spin

It's the bike course, which does incorporate a fair amount of the run course.

It's only about a 45 min drive.  You should be OK as long as you head directly to the packet pickup area.

When I did my last ironman in AZ in 2010 I used a company called tritracker or something. You put in your friends phone numbers and it sent you texts as you completed the race. Last I heard from the company was Ironman was ending their relationship. Is there something else out there like that or through Ironman?

There's a phone app:

http://www.bigislandsoftware.com/

As for the site - I can't remember which one was tracking BTers at IMCdA last year... I sent them a donation - I'll have to go look it up again.

Just a bit of advice about the practice swims.  Being in cold water depletes your glycogen levels a lot more than being in warm water.  Your body will burn more calories just trying to keep warm.  So while you might take a nice easy swim you are expending more energy that you think.

It's not a big deal to do a practice swim (I did one before the race).  Just don't overtax yourself and remember to replace those calories with good sources of energy.

IMHO 3 practice swims is a bit excessive.  One is enough to get you used to the shock of the cold water.

Good luck! I'm excited and I'm not even racing this year...

Good luck to everyone racing this year. I was where you are now last June. Looks to be similar race conditions. Enjoy your journey. Don't forget to pack some warm clothes for you and your family as it does start to cool off pretty quick after the sun goes down. Wish I was there with you guys. CdA rocks!

Y'all have a blast out there on Sunday!  I have such great memories of doing this race in 2007.  Great BT'ers, great course, great community, great setting.  Could not have asked for more from an IM experience.
