I use to swim a 100yds x 25yds pool 20ft deep inHawaii.  They had 25yds lanes and 50yds lanes, I swam the 50’s.  Even in HI sometimes the water was cold and made for a chilly start to the swim.

I have a CT ride later today.

I was forced to live off the course on my last race cause silly me forgot my drink of choice.  What I did was start with 1 bottle of water and leave on holder open.  Picked up sports drink at the first stop, which was 10 miles in.  That worked well for me.  And that was the bottle I kept chucking when I got to a new aid station and felt I couldn't make it to the next one with what I had on me.

I am always in the smaller ring on the trainer.  But, I am also not using my own wheel and the gearing is off so going to upper is not so smooth.  I'm way to lazy to make gearing adjustments when I swap the wheel.  I think in part it depends on the trainer too.  Mine has a fair amount of resistance in it that is not adjustable.

Very easy trainer ride, strength and core are done for this morning. Will possibly have a pool session with mainly pulls and drills if it's not storming this evening.

Looks like the long ride this weekend may be washed out. 70% chance of storms tomorrow and 50% chance (and colder) on Sunday. I should probably start mentally preparing for a longer trainer ride instead.

What does everyone else have on tap?

I could not get up this morning maybe because of the sleeping pill. The night before I only got 4hrs of sleep and wanted to make sure I got in a good night's rest. I heard the alarm at 4 but could not get up! I blinked at it was going off again at 6.

Quick swim tonight followed by the trainer!

Namaste!

This morning I had a hellish bike workout (2x18' @ 94-100% HR with 4' @ 75-80% rest) and this evening I have a nice relaxed 15min run in, what will more than likely be, about -4c (25f) .

I also did not answer the call of the morning workout.  And I skipped my swim last night ... no biggie.  today's workout is a short run so with the bonus of getting into work earlier I might even be able to get my workout done in daylight! And the swim will have to get done tomorrow.

Last night, DH called as he was leaving work and asked if I wanted to go for burgers - we have this awesome pub in our neighbourhood that does 30 different kinds of burgers - that sounded very appealing so i did that instead.

I run in K swiss. The Keahou for training and I have used Blade light run, K-ona and now the Kwickey blade run. I really like the Balde light run the best . I unfortunately get 200 - 250 miles out of a pair but have been able to find some decent prices.

" k' I gave a length reply in the '2 hour a week ironman thread'
Probably won't end well, but I was bored and gave it the ol' college try..."

I wondered if you would be able to hold out. Looks like the pull just gets too strong Laughing

Yeah I probably shouldn't have. My issue is that he has discussed 'coaching' others with this approach. Nothing wrong with being idiotic for yourself, but there is no doubt he plans to coach others to the 2 hour a week ironman. Who knows, maybe he's onto something....

Again, I can't imagine that so many people want to do that for their ironman training. Sure it's an interesting experiment for him but why would others bother? I can't imagine others really signing up.  I just can't understand why? why? Maybe i see the whole thing as lifestyle with the races as the check-in for hard work ... i dunno. I just don't get it.

Count me in for the could not get up this morning crew.  I had a terrible run Wednesday night, i actually walked it in, only a 3 mile run that i wanted to do 6, just felt like total doody.

I wonder if i went too hard too many days in a row last week, i had intervals Friday, hard group ride Saturday, Running race Sunday and did more very hard intervals Tuesday night, it might just be my body going WTF???  so it shut down a bit, at least i hope.  My wife is now sick..again, so i rested last night and finished 95% of my Road bike build. Just waiting for the wheels to get done and she is ready.  Gonna run 6 tonight, long 2-3 hour group rode tomorrow and 12 mile trail run on Sunday, and try to get in the pool.

sleepy group today.  Good thing we are coming up on the weekend.  I have a small cookie emergency here at home.  It is my fuel of choice (I don't use powerbars etc), but thankfully Tina comes home today so I should have a fresh batch by race day

Big news today:

My boyfriend accepted a job in Tucson! Hopefully, I can find a job and get out there in the next few weeks/months, too!

So, Kim, I'll need all of your Tucson tips - and maybe some leads on Mechanical Engineering-ish jobs? Laughing

Nice.  There are areas of the city you for sure do not want to live in.  I had a very detailed map drawn out for me when I moved telling me where I could and couldn't live.  lol  Getting around Tucson can be a pain though, no highways so getting from East to West can be a lengthy drive (or bike ride).  What side of town is he going to be working?

Intel is big out here and is expanding.  Not sure if you can land a mechanical job there though.  Military?  They hire civilians.  Then there is Raytheon.

Congrats! That will be quite a cross-country move, but sounds exciting. Good luck on the job search.

Another person on the missed the morning crew boat....  For some reason I don't mind getting up early and running outside, but don't like getting up early to get on the trainer...  hmmmmm

To various threads:

Congrats on the move Elaine.  I've always wanted to do that Mt. Lemmon ride

Today have a CT ride after work.  Probably 1:15 or so, see how I feel.  Already did my intervals this week so it will just be a progression building on power.  I sometiems do the warmup in the small ring, but all sets are done in the big ring since I am also on a CT.  Just seems to work better (and there's a weird deep bass harmonic when I am in the small ring)

This weekend I am mixing things up a bit.  Will swim tomorrow a.m. with masters, then a 3-4 mile run after (then a massage  ).  Sunday I have a superbowl 10K in the morning and then will ride about 3.5-4 after with a friend.  Mix of flats and hills.

Got my weight back down to 209 and change.  a little more than 4 pounds to go to reach my goal of racing Calif. 70.3 30# lighter than last year.

Fred D - 2012-02-03 11:32 AM I swam with an elite triathlete today, and while I couldn't keep up I did swim much faster and harder than I usually do. My left elbow seems to drop a bit(I breath to the right only) Any tips on elbow drop??

Early in the training season I tend to have this issue...in fact, I'm combating it now. One of my favorite ways to address it is with the fingertip drill...usually gets my stroke back in order. I'll be doing that in my workout this evening.

Awesome job on the weight loss...quite an accomplishment, and you're way ahead of your goal time frame...so will you re-adjust now and shoot for more weight loss by race day?
