I usually do a lot of inner thinking and processing before I comment on the things like today, so I've been pretty quiet the last 10ish hours. As a mother who is most often a spectator with my kids, Boston shook me. Those bombs were for the families and friends cheering on the accomplishment of everyone passing by. That....grrrr!

But tonight I can do nothing about Boston. I hugged and cuddled my kids, and I will kiss and cuddle DH. And I will remind myself and all of you what joy and innocence looks like at a race...

I know it must seem a difficult day to have a birthday, or celebrate, but even more so it has become a day to celebrate LIFE and those who choose to live well, care for life, and care for our world and the living beings in it. Of that, you are the epitome. So happy birthday indeed.

10:52 - 6 hours after beginning - I have reconciled 12 months of my business account transactions - printed a P&L - and filed my taxes!  It is done - I'm in on time (with 1 hr 10 mins to spare).  Woo Hoo!  

Next year I won't wait until the last minute.  Wait - I said that last year.

Good night everyone.   

I will close my eyes tonight thinking about those who lost their lives and those that were injured today.  I will be thinking about all those marathoners, and the incredible accomplishments of each and every one of them (whether they were able to finish or not).  I will also be thinking about what a great group we have here, and in the tri / running community as a whole.  

I am truly thankful to have found and joined this group.  While nothing can replace the intimacy of looking into someones eyes, hearing their voice, or physical contact from an handshake or a hug, the bond from an "e" relationship seems quicker to form than when meeting people in real life.  I can't think of a nicer bunch of people to have met online and "e" bonded with.  I am happy to consider you all my friends, even though we haven't met in person.

I genuinely wish you all nothing but the best, and I look forward to the day we can meet in person.  

Sleep well, and be safe.  

amd723 - 2013-04-16 12:47 AM If it has a " plug" it can be pulled. Lots of technology that would allow for a lot of Big Brother type of activity, thankfully we have a Constitution and other laws that protect us from that under most circumstances.

Heh. I realized that's all I ever wear, pretty much. Wearing my IMNZ polo shirt at a business meeting right now. Rock on, runners and all who love them.

amd723 - 2013-04-16 12:44 PM Oh, I am not naive nor do I have blind faith; in fact, because of my job I probably know more of what can be done and has been done than a lot of people, but I also know that our laws and concepts of what is acceptable keep us mostly free from the intrusion that could be heaped upon us. Also, you will note that in my OP I said "under most circumstances". Of course, we are getting more and more like London with cameras going up everywhere, so ...
