Aikidoman - 2009-05-06 2:20 PM Yeah, at the end of my last session, someone 'kindly' mentioned they were not getting much from the group...

Which is fine.  I guess I was not sure what they wanted in the first place.  A coach, a daily tip...  I was there to answer questions and inspire (I thought).

I guess it just put me off a bit because since it was the end anyway, everyone could have just walked away and not say anything.  Not a departing "shot".

But they weren't rude about it, so no biggy.

I don't know if that was the case - I think the person just decided that they'd rather do their own thing. And since they did log their workouts, it was hard for me to go in and leave them any feedback - which is fine, like I said. It's totally voluntary. I still feel bad though My mentees are great though - they ask really good questions.

I think I lost one of mine, too.  He hasn't posted in a long time (only has 3 posts total) and never posted in his log.  Not much I can do.  Maybe decided this was too hard, maybe will come back.  Hopefully, he does come back.

Having an inquisitive group is important.  I needed something to go on.  I think a lot of my group know what was up, so really didn't have much to ask which made it tough...

Good people though, and friends now.  I may restrict it to newbies next time.  Lost more questions!  Then I would feel more usefull.

I'm trying a challenge with my group this month.  They don't ask a ton of questions, so I thought this would be a good way to get people a little more involved.  We'll see how it works.

Yeah, since I'm not an FOP'er or a life long athlete, I specified that my group was best for people new to the sport, and not to expect real "coaching" - if you want that, there are other mentors out there who will do that. I know quite a bit and can give decent feedback, but I'm not even close to being an expert, nor am I a real coach.

I posted a challenge for people to try to hit 20 squares of the pink, dark pink or green variety, for the month of May. Even if that's a walk around the block, some stretching, a yoga video, etc. As long as it encourages consistent activity, even if it's not tri-related. Just getting the discipline to be active on a regular basis is a step in the right direction, as tri training takes a lot of self-motivation.

Depends on what it's for I guess. I'd love to go back to school, just can't make it happen financially. I always tell people to hide in the world of academia as long as possible.

Two quotes in my sigy - GONE.

Also, I pruned a couple friends off my friends tree....   I bet you are going to look to see if you made the cut!

I also need to add some.  There are people I regretfully forgot to put on there!

I see how it is....

Why did your log get so wide?[/QUOTE]

TAN must be growing up.  No one commented on this?!

Free school is nice. My employer paid for my MBA - I wouldn't have done it otherwise.
Most people don't have an opportunity like that..... especially in today's economy. A lot of employers are discontinuing tuition assistance programs due to financial problems.
