OK I see some cheating going on, DEXTER wants to drop out at 60%, claims marathon recovery, I don't buy it. Swimming is good for recovery. I call it lack of planning and should not be dismissed. Fair is Fair. I busted my but to fit it all in with sick kids and even on vacation.  It is called a challenge!

Does is matter that we have more swimmers when is comes to the numbers?

I was thinking the SAME thing!! And they also have 2 guys at O% but have NOT included them in the spreadsheet..........smells fishy...........

Usually if someone has not reached x% by the middle of a challenge they get dropped... cant remember what the ruling was... do we have anyone we need to worry about? (I cant access google spreadsheets from work)

Yanti set up this challenge but didn't include any instructions about this in the challenge rules. I'm just trying to keep the challenge going.

We can't really force someone to remain in the challenge but I suppose we (Boys and Girls) should try to come to an agreement on when someone can drop.

We've got someone on our team who joined the challenge and is logging activity every day but has only completed 25% of goal. I'd love to drop her, but it doesn't seem fair.

So, proposals for drop rules?

Well we all have issues that come up, that is why it is a challenge, I mostly complete my goals and try very hard to do it, doesn't seem right for someone to just drop out more than half way because they don't want to be the one making the team possibly loose. But if they are allowed to drop them then I say we are allowed to drop ours too.  I can understand sick allowances and traumatic events but...

Hi everyone...As one of the "sandbaggers"  you are more than welcome to drop me...my goal was 8 sessions which was ambitious knowing that I was moving at the end of the month...I have completed 5 sessions and will do one tomorrow to get to 6, but there is no way I will get to 8 because I am on call Thursday and moving on Saturday...so drop me if need be.

this is also posted by me in the guys section in response to dropping someone:

double edged sword....should not drop anyone after the halfway point, that is not fair to either teams, and if someone is over 60%, they should not be dropped period, that is not fair to anyone. it is what it is, not like we are competing for cash prizes, this is supposed to be for fun and comraderie, and i think overall it has achieved it's goal, and i have gotten to meet a buncha new cool peeps in the process.

If it is not wanting to show your in a$$ a speedo...well, read the challenge rules in the beginning and not sign up.

If i lose, then all you can say ladies is you asked to see it, lol, fair warning!!!

Sandbagging is when you state a low goal that you know you can easily make. You are not a sandbagger!

Hi,

Obviously passions are running high with this challenge with our @sses literally/figuratively on the line.

So, I have a proposal:

Let's figure out how to reinstate everyone who was in the challenge as of the 16th of May. Then, we can do something like they do in diving and gymnastics scoring where the lowest scores get dropped. I suggest that at the end of the month the final team average will be figured after the lowest 10% of participants are dropped (I suggest we use a % rather than a fixed number since the girls have more members than the boys). Does this seem fair? I'd love some buy-in for this (but I suppose I can impose it unilaterally)

Thanks, Nicole

You are not a sandbagger, you set yourself a challenge! Which is my point to not drop people we are all in this together, we are supposed to inspire/encourage each other not drop each other! This is suppoed to be fun

Nicole,

I like your idea.  If under 60% mid month the low performers should be dropped but most of us are busting our a$$es getting our goals met.

Gosh - I wish someone would have asked me to drop out.

I have no excuses, just the realization that I still hate to swim...however, there are 4-5 more days left in the month and I'll do what I can to get my sorry self into the pool as much as I can.

Nicole,

I like your idea.  If under 60% mid month the low performers should be dropped but most of us are busting our a$$es getting our goals met.

I talked to Dex.  He didn't ask to be taken off the team.  Phil asked him to go cause he was so far under goal which totally pissed him off.  I think in the future there needs to be a designated captain per team and not a self appointed manager of things.  The purpose of the challenges is to make training fun, not to make us hate each other for checking logs and such.

TOTAL B.S. - Here's the e-mail -

Dexter:
It's been since May 8 since you last reported in for the Men vs. Women swim challenge. You have completed 9000 out of your goal of 15000 yards.
Will you be able to complete your goal and report in for us, or is there a problem and need to bow out?
Please let us know of your intention.
Thank you.

1stTimeTri

1). Does that look like I asked him to leave?  Get the TOTAL facts straight before making some accusation, Zippy.  I have a HUGE problem with that comment you made and do not appreciate it.  If Dexter is pizzed off at me, he can PM me himself.  But, from what is presented, it was left for Dexter to decide on, not ME TELLING HIM what to do.  If he wanted to stay, he could have stayed.  If he wants back on, he can come back on.

2). I was NOT self-appointed to do the PMs.  I was asked by another member of our team (in fact, they said I was volunteered or voted, whatever that means) to PM the other members.

I've got a lot more to say but holding back on the barrels.

I agree with appointing a Captain for the teams next time.

I'm smarmy and usually very cordial, but when accusations are thrusted out there like that, that BURNS MY AZZ a little.

Now, I can't wait to see the little tete-a-tetes that develop behind my back from this post.

Have a better day, and I do mean that graciously.

Ok team.. I have PM'd anyone with their current results at or below 60% and will keep you posted is I do or dont hear anything!

Hiya - just an update, Ive heard back from most of the people Ive PMd... the ones Ive heard from are still swimming... so in a couple of cases a log/spreadsheet check might be all thats required.

A couple I havent heard back from yet but lets give people a chance to come and check in!
