Anyone else thinking?  I know Bobby is now an IRONMAN RACER!!!  woo hoo!

I am glad that you are made plans for next year. I am really quick to lose focus if I do not have plans and some pressure to train. I have been very unfocused lately and I can feel it. I really do not want to slide through the next two month and then start my 30 week IM training. I should be putting these days to good use. I guess I will come up with my plan this weekend and use it as motivation to get me going again.

As this year comes to a close, I have been thinking more and more about next year.  Right now I think my top goal is going to be completing a HM in November.  I would also like to run a couple more sprints and move up to an Oly by late summer.  My biggest concern is trying to bite off more than I can chew given my current fitness level and outside commitments (especially the new baby).  I am hoping these goals will mesh well together as I currently see the run as my biggest physical limiter.  I can already do the swim and bike distances comfortably, albeit slowly.

You mean November 2012 right?
When I first read that I thought you said HIM and so I was about to suggest trying a half mary to get used to the running distance but you already beat me to it

Yes, 2012.  I'm thinking about adding a 5 or 10K in for the end of the year this year, though.  Maybe a fun Christmas run to get me in the spirit.

Okay guys.  Some year-end Homework and an update of where we'll be in 2012.

First, the Homework   Between now and December, I would like everyone to revisit the Goals they wrote down at the beginning of this.  Revisit those Goals and reflect on them.  Many of you accomplished them.  Some did not.  Some did not due to any fault of their own (life events, injury, etc...)   If you care to, please write a few paragraphs reviewing your year.  This will be good for you, and for others.  Right down you winter goals, and perhaps broad-stroke goals for next year.

I wanted to wait til my last big race of the year was done before I revisited my goals.

On January 6, when I joined this group, my goals for 2011 included CDA Ironman, healing up my plantar fasciitis, to swim more efficiently and faster and have a good nutrition plan for IM.

This season went FAR beyond what I imagined it would.

Ironman CDA went GREAT!!  A day I will remember FOREVER!!!

I PR'ed my 5K

I PR'ed my Half Marathon

and finally I PR'ed my Marathon and qualified for Boston at the same time.

THANK YOU Bobby for volunteering your time to run this group and be our mentor!!

THANKS to Bobby & everyone in the group for the "inspires", inspiration, laughs, stories and being part of my BT family.  It was fun!

Cheers to accomplishing goals and creating new ones!

Like Rene, I am going to wait until after my last race, Philly to write my memoirs for 2011.

I hope to see many, IF NOT ALL!, of you back in George and I's group next year.  We will allow a few more members into our group.  The name of the new group will be George & Dream Chaser's 'Set a Goal and Capture it' 2012 Mentor Group.

Some people have mentioned to me, I should be setting to 'crush goals'; not capture them.  They say, I should be 'Dream Crusher" not 'Dream Chaser'.    But you know what, just setting a goal can be tough.  Then the journey to capture it follows.  If you crush that goal, fantastic.  That's a bonus.  But my down to earth approach is simply to achieve the goal, and then it allows me to move on to the next goal.  And sometimes it takes years and years to hit even the most modest, realistic goal; especially with the trials and tribulations that life throws at us.

So, yeah, it's been a good year and this is an amazing group.  Next year will hopefully be even better.  I hope our friends who are injured will recover, cause I know how freaking crappy it feels to be injured and not be able to train, and chase your goal.  I am eager to read everyone's year-end thoughts, and see everyone's goals for next year,

This was a great group and I so look forward to doing this next year. I hope that the folks from the group stay along for the ride, because it is always a memorable ride, and that some new peers join as well. My only question to DC is this...do I get to come up with a cool name to kick off next year's group? George and Dream Chaser's group seems a bit one sided and does not have the zip that it could have. Hey, if you are going to have a dynamic group, you have got to have a dynamic mentor name/title. Just sayin'.

Bad times for us PSU alums...

VERY sad situation for PSU. So much collateral damage from the students to players and alum on top of the indescribable tragedy to the poor victims.

They took a step in the right direction yesterday with Paterno/Spanier but unfortunatley I think it's gonna get worse before it gets better. I do think they'll do right by the victims though. Paterno's lost what is most important to him; his legacy, and Sandusky will get the closest thing he can to justice while in prison.

But remember it's more than just a football program. It's an excellent academic institution in which you should take pride. You're walking(well maybe limping Wink ) evidence of the quality type of person that PSU produces; and I'm sure that is the overwhelming majority of graduates. They'll cull out anyone who was complicit in this and bring in better leadership moving forward. Sadly, one evil man and a few weak men had the power to cause this much suffering. More sadly, I doubt Penn State is the only place this has occurred, just ask the Vatican.

The PSU events are beyond disgusting.  Thye alleged crimes are repulsive, and what I find just as repulsive is that other people in the school chose to cover it up!?!  I think that's what, for me, makes it that much worse.  Had someone with a shred of human decency who knew what was going on simply done the simple RIGHT thing and reported it, it would still be sad and utterly tragic but at least we could focus on 'one sick man'.  Instead, it was covered up by many and that just makes a distrurbing crime, that much more offensive and disturbing.  I, personally, could not live with myself if I knew something like that was going on and chose to not report it.

I hope Justice is harsh and swift.
