We've only got one more month to hang.  August is the end of this Mentor Session.

Then no mentoring until the new year.

I guess it'll still be up and running, but the groups officially end in August.

I have no idea why my picture just changed again... Oh well.  That's me on top of a Wind Turbine...240 feet in the air.

Actually, I just read, that it is supposed to end next Thursday.  We will be moved to the archived section.  I guess we will just have to dominate over there

Holy Cow! Next Thursday?

I'll be over there. Anyone else?

I don't like how they have such a long period between the summer groups and the New Year's Resolution Groups.  I also notice there are far fewer groups in the summer when races actually happen than during the resolution period.

Who are people picking to win the TdF?

Haha, yes. We can keep the thread going forever if we'd like. I have a few pages of posts to catch up on.

Well, I finally came to my senses and decided that I am not going to attempt the race I had planned for next weekend. Not worth making my problem worse. A little dissapointing but not the first time I've had a DNS.

Good choice.  Remember DNS > blowing out your knee and being sidelined for 3-6 months.

Is it really a DNS?

I'd consider it more of an INJ.  If it just "hurt" and you decided not to show, then it's a DNS, but we all know you have been dealing with the bum wheel for 13 days now so you're not "hurt" you're Injured.  When's the Doctor's appointment or are you just waiting for the Knee Fairy?

I love the injury fairy.  She doesn't show-up all the time, but sometimes when you go to bed going "I really hope that doesn't turn into an injury" and you wake up going "huh? I'm not hurting anymore."

Usually only happens when you have an appointment scheduled with a specialist though.

I'll be watching the TdF tomorrow morning.  Time Trial stage, maybe we can get some good pointers.

Yes, very good point...

I must say that I am so grateful to have such supportive friends here, its much easier to get through disappointment (and to make really hard decisions) when I have a support team telling me I did the right thing.

By the way, hope you all have a great weekend!

I am.  I have found more people on there that I forgot I knew.  It's a pretty good networking site.  The good thing is that no one can see your info unless you give them permission to.  You should check it out.  Between that site and this one, I find it hard to get real work done.

I can't get on at work and at home, I never touch a computer unless it's my work laptop because I brought it home.

I have a good friend I've been trying to get ahold of who is on Facebook, but I can't get on there.  If someone wants to pass a message for me, I'll PM the details.

If Lauren comes back on, I'm sure we'd all like to hear more about IMLP.  Any interesting thoughts go through your head when you're on the 12th hour of a race?  Any songs pop into your head?  In the movie Touching the Void http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touching_the_Void , this guy who's been through absolute hell for several days has this song "Brown Girl in the Ring" pop into his head and he's just so pissed that he's going to die to the sound of "Boney freaking M"- the band who sang that song.

I always kinda figured the same thing happens toward the end of an Ironman.

I'm out for the weekend I think.  Wish me luck on my Tri-Bike purchase.  The more I think about it, the more I realize riding the Orbea is just going through the motions.  Oh, I also have a 16-miler on Sunday tenatively...

Last thing, Some good news! My $700 MM project has been approved!!! Now I'll have even more work to do!!!

I did a little 5K race today!  Not a stellar performance but a race none the less.  I'll put up the race report tonight.  Cheers everyone!

Haha. I've seen Touching the Void, so I know exactly what you're talking about!! Actually, not too much came into my head during the race. The torrential rain on the bike really forced you to focus on what you were doing, so I don't think my mind wandered at all, nor did I need anything to occupy it. As for the run, I just spent a lot of time assessing how I was feeling, thinking about what I'd get at the next aid station, reflecting on my training, etc. I was really surprised, because I expected to think about a lot of different things out there, but it was very rare I thought of anything but the task at hand. The day sure flew by, though.

No, BT is the only social networking site to which I belong. Although, I recently received my first facebook invite in a foreign language, so that was pretty cool. It's everywhere now .

x2 on BB's advice. I had to DNS three races during my 2006 season (like I said, injuries are a hobby of mine). It was really tough at first (actually the first one was tough; the rest were much easier), but looking back on it, I have no regrets. I also don't feel bad about it or upset about my decision as I knew it was the right one. Sorry you have to go through this though .
