Good luck to all the racing manatees!

My union has started job action (along with many other post secondaries in BC) and today my campus is struck.  Yaaaaaaay, picketing from 3-7pm!  At least the rain is supposed to clear up!

Surely you can log that as training, right?

Sure, slow walking, drinking coffee and eating Timbits.  Strength training right?

OMG Timbits. One other thing I can add to the "Canadian things I like" list. Although the rest of TH can go to hell. It all sucks.

I has a sad Cry.  Is that because it is competition, or is it some other issue?

Oh I just think it's gross! I certainly don't care about competition! We drink everyone else's coffee ALL the time. I think it's probably because my friend hyped up TH like crazy. Like I said though, Timbits are the bomb.

S'funny cause I think many people hype up the 'Bux!  Honestly, I am so not a coffee snob, I'll drink anything, anytime.  If it's hot and got caffeine, it's my friend.

Yum!

Funny, my DH was commenting yesterday that after 3 Thanksgiving parties he hadn't had pumpkin pie yet.  It was available at 2 of the 3 but he opted for other desserts. I'm not making a pumpkin pie tomorrow but I am making a pumpkin cheesecake.

Yeah, it all depends on the coffee for sure. I am not a snob or anything and I like a lot of different stuff but SBUX Thanksgiving blend in a french press slaughters the competition in my opinion.

I love love love to cook but baking is not my thing (unless it's bread in the bread maker but I don't think that counts.)

Swoon!!!

Oh yeah, I highly recommend getting the Thanksgiving Blend to go with it all!!!

"A culinary coffee to complement the Thanksgiving meal. That was our inspiration for this special blend of coffees from Sumatra and Guatemala's Antigua region. It's a spicy, full-bodied brew that reveals subtle herbal notes when paired with turkey and stuffing. And it's perfect with pumpkin pie too. A recipe for a great Thanksgiving, if we do say so ourselves."

Tom Douglas came in and worked with our coffee team extensively to make a "culinary coffee" that goes well with everything thanksgiving (from the turkey to the pie.

This is my very, very favorite coffee.

So much for controlled eating tomorrow.  Made 2 pumpkin pies, 1 apple cranberry walnut, 1 traditional apple, 1 pecan pie and then my dad brought over a Cassata sheet cake.  Holy crap!!! Why would this man get a sheet cake?  It is a 4 layer cassata (means that instead of frosting between the layers, it has cannoli filling) cake.  OMG!!!!  I am cooking for 30 but still, that is a butt load (and that is where it will end up on my butt and thighs) of desserts, especially with all the rest of the food.  Can you say fat pants!!!! Definitely an elastic waist sort of day!  The 5k won't even make a dent in the calorie in/out ratio.   MOOOO!!!!

Gotta love holiday eating, I have been known to gain at least 5- 7lbs on Christmas day alone!  funny how I can't shift that much weight in one day, takes a good month to get it off again.  Every year I say, right let's be sensible, but I can't OINK OINK.

Good luck to our official racers tomorrow.

I'm going to have my family do a one mile fun run on the dirt road behind our house. Jayson and I are trying to think of a name for it. Taking cues from your races, I suggested "The Potato Mash," but he thought "Thanksgiving Run" was more appropriate. I'm going to keep working on him.

I'm going to try to keep the eating under control, but we'll see what happens.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I'm very thankful for all of you. It's fun to share this endurance journey with you.

Happy running and other assorted activities tomorrow everyone!

I won't be doing any running, but I think I will go for a hike--in my 'mud run' shoes--I know THEY wont let me slip! My ankle is feeling better, and I am all antsy to do anything! I guess I really needed this race to get me back into the swing of things, activity-wise...I just am planning stuff left and right!

Anyway--for all the U.S. folk, Happy Thanksgiving! For all the international folk, Happy Thursday! Cool

A great run with my DD last night - maybe we did 1km maybe not.  She does the following

Skips
turns cartwheels
picks flowers
ducks into the park to see two huskies and two German Shepherds
races mummy
talks nonstop.

A joy to run with!

My legs don't feel like toast today, finally!  DD and I ran the kitchen.  She made the deviled eggs and mashed potatoes, she likes the mashing part.  I made a brokery (Chinese for broccoli) salad and a homemade pumpkin pie, not the canned stuff, the real deal.  It's cooling now, hopefully it turned out OK.  Weather permitting, hoping to get in a bike ride tomorrow, maybe a swim too.
