I did my run this morning. My heel bothered me some during and some now after but maybe less than it has after my other recent runs. If that's right, it's and improvement.

I've been looking and reading about different ideas on what good running form should be. Yesterday I watched several intro videos about Evolution Running and tried to apply some of what I they said about keeping the strides short and quick and under the body. My legs hurt in a bit of a different way but not bad. I was definitely faster today than planned, but my HR was pretty hard so I was probably working harder rather than easier/more efficiently.

As part of my plan every month I do a 5K time test to see where I stand.  Today was that day.  I blew up on my pacing on mile 1.4 or so of the run.  I'll try again later today.  :-( :-(  :-(

Surfnturf!
Running w/ H2O - I have a belt that I'll put just one little bottle on vs the 2 it came with. I also have a hand held bottle thing.
Road Runner Sports has lots: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/gear/gearhydrationandholders/ />

Thanks. I'll check them out!

Take it easy on your heel. I also have tried to change my stride to shorter/quicker steps and I can feel a difference in my legs the next day. I also go faster but my breathing gets thrown off b/c of the faster cadence. Overall I think it is a better way to run but maybe we just need to get used to it. Keep at it but be gentle with your heel.

IMPORTANT CHALLENGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

There are NO "bonuses" this month!

What you run, is what gets recorded on the spreadsheet.

For example:
- You run a 5K race. You record 5K (3.1 miles) on the spreadsheet. (No bonus is given.)
- You run a brick. You record only your running distance on the spreadsheet. (No bonus is given.)
- You complete a tri. You record only your running distance on the spreadsheet. (No bonus is given.)

Also, the maximum you can achieve is 100% of your goal.

If you reach your goal, you may raise it. But you won't earn more than 100%.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your Team Captain or send me an inspires or PM.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled post padding.

- Dee

Well..yesterday morning I was NOT able to get up for a morning run and instead did a short jog in the evening.  It was warmer and HUMID here - first day really this summer.  It wasn't easy, but I did a mile.  This morning I got up and did a longer run on the dreadmill...and am in such a better mood!

Good job getting it done and glad your dreadmill run helped put you in a better mood!

Do you all try to get a certain amount of protein and cals in your diet and if so how did you pick that amount?

I should but I don't. I have learned the importance of protein for muscle recovery and have changed my eating to several smaller meals with some protein 3-4x per day. haven't figured out the calorie thing yet but I am still working on it.

**Page Toppage**

I do have a legitimate question to post....

Has anyone seen "UP" the movie?? If so, did you see it in 3D or regular? I want to take my kids to see it but the 3D theater is farther away and I wonder if it makes a difference. I am guessing it will be better in 3D.

I'm going to attempt running again today... wish me luck! My heels have deep rub spots on the outsides from running in wet shoes last weekend, and so far I haven't been able to run without tearing them open again. I really would like to do some running before next weekend's marathon, but also want my feet to be healed by then.
