Ok so I have to drop off my bike and a gear bag tomorrow night for Tribike Transport.  Now I was planning on putting all my nutritonal needs in the gear bag, but as I was reading on there website they say they don't reccommend putting nutrition in the gear bag and no Liquds...so now do I just ignore them and put my nutrtion in it with some other gear stuff, or figure out another way to transport it

here is what I was planning to put in the bag

EFS - 30 oz bottle - brand new unopened

water bottles/gel flask bottles

IM Perfom powder container

gels/cliff bars/chomps/salt tablets

Cycling shoes/pedals

What say you?

Okay so just curious...what hotel did you get that is within walking distance? The Country Inn & Suites I have booked is on Scottsdale, so it's probably in a good location according to what you said.  Yes, I definitely have been trying to cover my basis but I also need to cancel a few soon!  Thanks so much for your input.

You can park in the garage for free, so that's what I plan to do.  It's close to the start and it's set up for athletes to do that.

On the other expo days, I know of a secret parking lot (at least it seemed "secret" last year) that was close.

my daughter woke up sick today

It seems like everyone around me is sick.  My wife, oldest, and youngest are all sick right now.  Trying to stay away from them as much as possible.  "I want a hug dad"..."see me in 11 days son."  Haven't considered crashing at my mom's place yet, lol!

Same here, we brought our 4 yr old in for a Strep test last night.  That is spreading like wildfire.

I'm considering wearing a facemask on the airplane Sealed

Haha, my dad was joking that Ironman should make a facemask with the IM logo on it and triathletes would probably pay $20 for it. I think he is on to something.... Facemask and pink compression socks....I would definitely stand out!

Question about carbon wheels: I have never trained or used zipp firecrest wheels, should i rent a pair for race day? I will probably have a 1 day to test them out. Does it take long to get used to?

Also do i need to get carbon brakes or can use my stock brakes?

Sorry but im new to race wheels

Never, EVER try something totally new on race day, especially Ironman distance.  It is just not worth the risk.

I have hot pink compression socks and when we flew to Hawaii last summer, I wore them on the plane with my nice shorts .  In first class, no less (I did wait until I got to my seat before I actually put them on)  My kids were so embarrassed, but it was so much fun.

Realized I leave for Arizona a week from tomorrow.  Wow.  Can't wait.  All this work, looking forward to seeing what happens.  I know there will be suffering, but, well, looking forward to seeing how much.

the garage immediately across the street from IM village on the Mill Ave side charged $20 a day last year.  that's $100 worth of parking I could have had free?!  nuts!

Parking at US Airways building garage (just south of IM Village on Ash (west of Mill Ave) is usually free on Sat and Sun for the race.  However, it can fill up, so if you are going to park there, get there early.

After that lot is filled, start working your way south and you will find parking along the street or in other lots (there is a lot on 5th and Ash on the NW corner that people use.

What does everyone have lined up from this coming weekend to the race?

The Fink plan calls for 2hr bike to 30 min run on Saturday and then a 1hr bike and 1hr run on Sunday.

Going into next week I don't arrive in AZ until Friday morning, so my plan will be to get atleast 1 masters swim in and a few short run and rides to keep the body loose.

I'm doing a 3k OWS on Saturday followed by a bonus 5k run...After that I'm heading out to the beeline one last time for about a 3:00 ride. Sunday I'm doing 1:30 run and then the real tapering begins.

When I spectated, I parked at Tempe Center for the Arts (about 1/2 mile west on Rio Salado). Not sure if it will be open Thur-Sat, though.

Be careful parking at TCA.  They use a portion of it for volunteers (who get parking passes), and the TCA parking people are strict about NO RACE PARKING close to the TCA building.  I would not count on it as an automatic place for spectators to park.

3:15 ride on Sat

3k swim and 1:40 run on Sunday...

This is about what I'm doing, except for the swim. Saturday's supposed to be crappy though (maybe even snow), so I might switch sat and sun.

Still planning out next week, but I'm thinking two 5 mile runs, two 3K swims, and 4 bikes of mostly low intensity. Also the practice swim.

What are the meet-up plans? Anyone going to the Tribe meet-up on Friday?

Going to ride for an hour then run for 1.5 hours (hopefully) on Saturday.  Riding before helps my Achilles get warmed up and loose before running.  Still trying to coax it back into a good place before the 18th.

Sunday, about a 50 mile ride.  But, really, at this point, getting to the line healthy is my biggest goal.  My hay is in the barn.  Now its just getting it in order.

I am not going to the Tribe meet-up, but there's no way I'm missing the Triple Sports one on the 15th...Lindsy Corbin will be there and I think she's finally going to get her chance to ask me out. I just know she wanted to when she passed me in Boise, but I was really busy...

Is there a master list of these meet-ups? Good luck with Lindsey!

Wow you guys are sure doing a lot more the weekend before the race than I am.  I'm doing a 1.5 hour bike and 30 min run saturday and an 1:20 run sunday.  I've tried a little longer the weekend before the race, and i don't think it really hurt me, but i don't know if i was fully recovered from the months of training.  Anyway i've always felt better race day with a little less on the weekend before.  Good luck with the final workouts and stay safe everyone.

My weekend is way less than a lot of you also. Friday is a 30 minute bike/30 minute run brick. Saturday is 90 bike/ 30 run brick and Sunday is an hour swim. Had my last long workout this morning. 2.4 mile pool swim. Felt good and was actually feeling stronger the last 1,000 yards. Only trouble I was having was boredom and cramping calves coming off the walls. Probably won't have to worry about that in AZ though.
