HA!

So who is racing this weekend. If you're not racing, please share with us your bucket list.  Include at least one race and one no-race related event.

No racing but maybe a 1.2km ocean swim tomorrow if the weather settles - blowing a gale out there for the past 3 days!

Bucket list:

Sporting:

Ironman France! I'd need to get seriously strong on the bike but it looks worth it.

London Marathon

The Big Swim - in Sydney

Non-sporting:

See the kids happy and healthy and bringing me lots of grandkids to love one day! How soppy is that?

Travel, travel, travel - there's lots of Oz I haven't seen, lots of Asia and I'd love to travel round America. I've spent a lot of time in Europe and been to most places but I'd like to spend a season in the Alps again (did it once in a fantastic French resort called Megeve) and I'd love to cycle through the Italian and French Alps.

Only once?!?  in the Alps?  What a waste.  Wink

What goes on in the Alps stays in the Alps

Can't leave me out.  Sign me up too.  Never going to be the olympic gymnast that I dreamed about, so might as well do the Master's thing.

Oh, and the Alps!!  Hubby proposed to me while we were hiking in the Alps.  Just beautiful.

My bucket list:

Ironman (Just the distance, no specific place)
Olympics (never considered Master's--oh, this needs some investigation)
Travel:  Australia, More of Europe, South America, Africa
Stay healthy and live longer than my female ancestors (this won't take much longer!!)
Get my kids to move to really cool places so I can go visit them often Laughing

I am riding in an 8 person Team Time Trial on a CT this weekend.  We are going to be one of 24 teams all riding at the same time.  Should be as much fun as 30 minutes in the hurt locker can be but I plan on using it as FT test also.  As Tony's video showed, "Whats your threshold?"  is a question that must be able to be answered by any cyclist.

Sports Bucket List:

  • Win a bike race.
  • Compete in Cyclocross Nationals (In Madison again next year.....hmmmmm   )
  • Compete in an IM distance race in the next 5 years.  (no, that is not a typo)
  • Escape from Alcatraz Tri
  • Triple-T Ohio

Current Life Bucket List (this always seems to be changing a little):

  • Enjoy my kids graduation from High School.  (so far, so good!)
  • See my kids graduate from College.
  • Walk both my girls up the Aisle.
  • Figure out how to be a happy and engaged Empty Nester.
  • Drink a few more beers with the members of this MG
  • Spent my last $.01 on the pine box they bury or burn me in.

Can you guys help me figure this out?  I went to get on the bike this morning and noticed my rear wheel was flat.  (Ahhh... now I realize why the sudden change in tension 2 minutes from the end of my ride on Sat.)  I tried using my new mini-pump (same as kyla's) with no response so I ended up changing the tube.  ok, fine.  Afterwards, I grabbed the old tube and it now appeared to be ok.  It had air and with a quick inspection (bc I was running late) it didn't appear to have a hole.  Is that possible?  This was at 4:45 am (pre-coffee) and again first time using the mini-pump so its possible I didn't have a good  fit bw the valve and the pump.

Also, any tricks to minimize the amount of flats I get on the trainer?  How do you set your tension?  Been searching the boards and it looks like I might need rim tape (don't remember seeing any).  Is this something I can do, or should I have someone else do it/teach me?

Your valve may have not been sealed well and that is why you lost air. Rim tape is easy to apply and you can do it yourself. Tension, I got nothing. I use a CT and that is different.

What is funny is, from the side shot of the guy on the bike, his position is not great. His arms should be closer to 90 degrees. And yes I have said some of that, especially the weight ones.

Flats on the trainer?  I know that lots of trainer riding can make the tire warped and maybe that is leading to your flats.   If you can, pick up a spare back wheel that you dedicate towards trainer riding.  That way you'll only wear the trainer pattern on that tire and save your road tires.

Huh?  Riding the trainer lots might wear the tire to a flattened edge over the center tension area, but warp a tire?  Can you warp a tire?  It certainly will not do anything to a rim.

Me confused.........
