Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED So I'm excited about my 5K pr and everything but the even bigger picture was the 18 miler I ran the day after and then yesterday's tempo workout my coach had me do. Everyone else was doing two 400s with 90 second rest and then an 800 times 3. He had me do a steady even paced 4 mile tempo at 6:28 pace. I had to do it solo and don't have a watch so I had to use the stop watch function on my iPhone and keep it in my sleeve lol!!! Oh yeah, and do lots of math while running. Anyway, I nailed it! That means in the midst of the workout I ran a 19:3-something 5k, reaffirming the weekends performance! Super stoked! Also we had a team party afterwards and there is nothing like having your coach pump the keg for you lol! |

Gawd, it's so funny that the only reason I was looking at mile splits is because my coach was asking for them. I mean, I almost NEED to get a watch. Not for myself or my own pacing but because Tom want's to know the numbers. How backwards is that? ha! |

I don't need GPS or anything, so long as I can do the math on the splits. And my lap counting method is to breathe the number of laps I have left, so it's something like "seven, seven, seven, seven" all the way around the track haha |

I ripped my pinkie toenail off. I actually run on those toes on the side, so half the bottom of the toe that I ambulate on is now a raw open wound. FUN!!! I love taper! Better now than later, and frankly than before too since I got pretty much all the necessary training in. Unfortunately I'm leaving in 3 days and got places to go people to do and things to see ... (wait, what?) and I kinda need that toe to walk on. It's all swollen and gross, too! Ouchie, ouchie, ouchie! Please take care of it so it heals as well as possible before your race. (shudder) |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Heya manatees! I had PT this morning. My therapist found a muscle knot on the top of my illiac crest. We're working on helping my core get stronger and my back, which seems to also be helping my hip. She makes me work way too hard! My hamstrings are so sore. Think I'm going to back off from running for a few weeks. I biked on the stationary bike today during PT and didn't aggravate my hip at all. So maybe biking and yoga for awhile? I'd swim, but that would require paying for a pool and I don't want to do that quite yet. |
