Member 321 Spokane | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Anyone remember the kids name at the dinner banquet who said he was going to break 10 hours and everyone laughed? I only see 1 guy in his age bracket under 10 hours i wonder if it was him. I thought i saw him out on the run too. Edit: p giblin was youngest male to compete, which i think that was him, he got 11:11 still a solid time! Edited by dkahns51 2013-06-25 8:25 PM |

Expert 1115 Spokane, WA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Already going to ask the crazy question, is anyone doing this race again next year? I know I am not but I am going to be a volunteer in the water and probably catch for the last 3 hours as well. Planning on doing this race again in 2015 and if I get lucky IMFL as well. Hope everyone is recovering quickly and good luck in whatever your next race, or endeavor is. |

Member 291 Hugo, MN | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Originally posted by dkahns51 Finished my 1 year ironman with a 12:11. I pushed way harder then expected lol. The swim was really fun, i seeded myself at the 1:15-1:30 and i was passing people the whole time, so i think alot of people thought they were faster then they really were. I stayed inside the bouy's till i got to the end one and passed the outside, no one drafted me and i didn't draft anyone so it was kinda nice. My bike was 17.7 mph avg, i was shotting for 16 so i'm happy with that considering i had 4 pee stops. Run was 4:34 which was 34 mins slower then what my goal pace was but i was in so much pain i'm just glad i got threw it. I ran to all aid stations and walked those, the last 4 miles i had to walk 3 times at a non aid station area for less then 1 min each. I don't remember the finish line or hearing my name, i was so out of it. You guys that do this more then once are freaking nuts. Edit: i also didnt sleep well, had to wake up at 3am for work today... manual labor work, so that was fun I watched you go into the finish chute and finished right after you (I'm pretty sure I was the next finisher behind you at 12:13). We played leapfrog on the run all day and then you got a nice kick that last mile and cruised in. Good job! |

Pacific Crest Long Course http://www.aasportsltd.com/events/pacificcrest/halftridu/index.htm Black Diamon Long Course http://aasportsltd.com/events/race/black-diamond/ I don't think I'll do it in 2015 either. At some point in my life, I'll do another IM but for now the 70.3 is easier to manage for training and family life. I might consider troika as well if I can do a last minute signup depending on weather . |

Member 92 Rose Lake, Idaho | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread I am not doing an IM next year. I will volunteer at CDA IM next year, probably bike and run section. I hope to do 3 open water events this year and some 10k's. Maybe a half marathon this winter. My Butt has advised me my bike is off limits for many months! LOL. |

I'm doing the 70.3 this Sept for the 3rd time. For next year, yes I'm doing an IM distance. Would love to do CDA but am also looking at the Leadman Bend 250 (+3mi swim, 140mi bike, 13mi run) or Whistler, I'll also do RAMROD again as I'm volunteering this year to bypass the lottery next year. Also as far as next year Ironman goes, that will be a No from me . |

Member 291 Hugo, MN | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread I was wearing a red/white tri top that said NOW bikes, black IM hat, black tri shorts and bright blue shoes w/ yellow laces. As for another IM for me, I don't think I'll ever do one again. I love the atmosphere and energy (there is really nothing that compares), love the venue (if only CDA hosted a 70.3), but I'm just not built for this. I executed well, but I just couldn't run which is my best event normally. My intercostals are still screaming at me today. 1/2s and lower for me from now on. |

Extreme Veteran 473 Chelsea, MI | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Just got back. I would do another one this fall if the wife would let me. I talked her into letting me do one in 2015, but she said no to the fall and next year. I'm thinking about Europe in 2015, but who knows. I have lots of room to improve on a 13:50. Thanks again everyone. I loved following this page and I enjoyed meeting the people I did meet. What a great race and great experience. |

Veteran 513 Coeur d'Alene, Idaho | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread If my calves weren't so sore, I'd love to do it again next weekend - I know I can do it faster! I plan on just doing one or two 70.3 races next year, and come back for 2015. My focus now is to help my wife do her first half-mary later this year and team up with my son to take the podium at Race The River Sprint Tri in Cd'A next month. |
