Well I have already done a tri it was 6 years ago. BUt I am STOKED does anyone else find if they haven't run for awhile their legs actually feel tired or is it that I am doing stairs and ladders all day long in steel toe boots?

speaking for myself, if I haven't run for a while my legs feel like lead when I try and run again!  I had a really short run as part of my plan the other night and didn't know if I was going to be able to do it

Sometimes if I go two days without working out I feel like I haven't worked out in about two years.  Does that make sense?  My body likes consistency.  I also find that on days when I am on ladders painting (which I do quite often!) my feet and legs hurt like an s.o.b. so I would have to say it is a combo of both.  I don't have steel toes, either, so your legs really carry around extra weight all day...don't stop running though, it is important!!!

You ought to find a tri down here to do--you were considering that at one point, weren't you?  We could meet up in our Team Javelin attire!

it makes TOTAL sense!

I can't even describe how tough Feb and the first 4 weeks of March were with my sporadic workouts

Things are finally starting to feel a little more normal

You have had the craziest start to this year of anyone I know! And you powered through it, look at you!!! Awesome!

And normal?  Is there such a thing?    I am feeling awesome today for the first time in a long while--sun is shining, 2 workouts, kid is (knock wood) WEANED.  Life is good.  And I have a couple of races on the calendar which always keeps me motivated.

Speaking of races....who is up this weekend? I know Erin has a race, but I don't know the details....anybody else??

Looking forward to reading new race reports

I think things are settling down for me. We're currently waiting on bike parts to finish out my bike. I've decided to at least walk the 5K on Sunday and use it as a step to get back into training. Monday morning will find me in the pool before work.

On a really downer note, DH found out yesterday that someone he knows died Sunday from injuries he received from a roadside bomb (died during surgery). Really brings you down after such an exciting weekend, but it makes me want to get out and do things NOW instead of wait since it reminds me that you never know what tomorrow brings.

I am losing the motivation to run my half marathon on May 25. Legs are feeling so tired and might be getting PF have to get to massage therapy and let that little 105 pound girl make me cry some more as she works the knots out of my calves. Also instead of the half marathon there is a triathlon also that day but I would need a wetsuit I am so undecided but would probably enjoy the tri more.

Sorry to hear about that. I work a Navy base and part of my Urban Search and Rescue Team is military and are deployed right now. I am so greatfull for the people go over there and there is not enough words to show my appreciation.

That's so awful. Those roadside bombs and IEDs have been just horrifying in this war.

I do agree, news like that makes me want to embrace the *now* instead of putting off life, like I sometimes do. Thanks for the reminder, Terri.

I was all set to tell you to go for the half anyway, Shawn, but if you'd rather do a triathlon, go for it! You need to get a wetsuit eventually, right? Do the tri!

WHAT????  Why would they do that???  You should come race the June Oly with us.  Share our room...

Do you have any other options for racing this weekend or next?  Sometimes there are other races you can get into, maybe!!  I am so upset for you, you have worked sooooooo hard!

I'm guessing they didn't get enough folks like me signed up to cover their costs (it's a college tri, to raise money for the team). It's totally ridiculous taht they're cancelling it THE DAY BEFORE. They haven't even sent out emails, just put a notice up on the website. I seriously can't believe it.

I tried looking for another tri this weekend, but there's nothing that'll work for me, so I plan to get very, very drunk instead. There's a mini-mini tri (it's actually called "the world's shortest triathlon") next weekend that I was planning to do just for fun, but that's not really going to fill the void. I think I'll probably sign up for an oly in June, but honestly, I can't really stand to think about starting the training all over again right now. It's like I worked my butt off for three months for nothing. I know that's not quite true, but damn, it feels that way.

Ohhhhhh Erin!!!  I'm soooo sorry   What a letdown . . . If you would be able to travel to the Dallas area next weekend, I think registration is still open and you would be more than welcome to stay in my room, though I am realizing what a pain it is to travel to a race.  Ticket prices seem fairly reasonable to DFW.  Just figured I'd throw it out there . . . dang!!  Can't believe they waited until the day before, that is SO ridiculous!!

Thank you, Renee! I don't think I can make it to Dallas, but if I didn't have plans next weekend, I would seriously consider it.

I'm looking at two running races this weekend, and that's making me feel a little better -- I feel like I have to do *something* with all this taper energy. I'm going to take a week to decide if I want to train for another oly or stick to sprints for the foreseeable future.

Erin . . . or isn't there an OLY out by Yanti somewhere the following weekend (April 19th/20th)???  I wanted to do that one sooo bad, but had a wedding.  Can't remember the details and don't know if registration is still open, but it could be a great one to check out!!  Closer anyhow, I think??

On Edit - Hey great idea to check out some races for this weekend!!  Beats the drinking yourself silly plan, LOL!  :P

Erin, Here's the one I was thinking of . . .

TriAya - 2008-02-18 10:51 PM

I still need to sign up for an OLY in early April . . . Yanti I think you said there is one out there in that timeframe, what is the name of that event?

Actually, the earliest around that time frame is April 20--La Quinta (Toyota) Desert International. My training buddy and I are doing it. Again, you (and the rest of you) are more than welcome to come out for that or any other race.

Back to work for me . . . Later!

Oh Erin that sux the big one.

Manatees...as soon as I hit "submit" I'm walking out the door for my first *race* of the season. As much as it pains me to do it, I'm walking today instead of attempting to do any running; however, I am going since I know you'd all virtually kick me in the azz if I didn't! LOL. I'll post my little RR when I get home. Wish me luck - I have a sore throat.
