DO NOT SELL THE CLIMBING EQUIPMENT (unless it is to me for really cheap).

gavisk - 2010-01-21 2:55 PM You new bike owners are making some of us REAL jealous. I'm scheming in ways I'm quite sure my wife would not appreciate (e.g., sell some climbing gear. Sell the scooter. Sell the cat. Sell plasma. Even, God forbid, sell one of my other bikes!).

HAHA!  Add in mac and cheese--the kind that comes in cups that you microwave-- and some sort of soda or sports drink and you pretty much have your typical college diet!  Oh and pizza... can't even remember how many times someone says "hey you guys wanna order a pizza?" at 11 oclock at night

Trin2bfast - 2010-01-21 1:46 PM Ha Ha... Emma, been there and lived off of that...  case of Top Raman, several cans of speghetti O's, and PB&J!  Gotta do, what ya gotta do!  (oh yeah... and beer!)  that always seem to find its way into the limited budget...it served two purposes (liquid bread (food group) & hydration....well kinda!)

Betsy0706 - 2010-01-21 12:35 PM Ahhh...fond memories

Emmanem - 2010-01-21 12:01 PM You people and your fancy meals... Wooohoooo Ramen for the second time in 24 hours!!!

Note: The second sentence should be read with extreme sarcasm as this college student would love a real home cooked meal instead of heatable meals.

I'm in Marketing.  I've taken several math classes though so maybe they've taught me... What are your friends names?  If you don't mind giving those out lol

gavisk - 2010-01-21 2:30 PM Also, Emma, I've been meaning to ask what you study at Clemson. I have some good friends who teach in the Math Dept. there.

Hey Eric...you have lost your mind! Me catch you... You swim way faster, bike way faster, and guess what you run faster! I think your safe with the lil' tidbits you toss out there. I do appreciate your reluctance, and it encourages me to work harder! The whole snow, cold thing...suck-o-rama to the tenth power! I would go nucking futs for sure! There is some great mental strength in our neighbors to the north! Kudos to you!Kel, you & others are always welcome down Texas way! I would love to move to Tucson... defintely worth the sacrifice! Just think how much awesome riding you'll be able to enjoy later! Emma ~ love me some mac & cheese! Velveta shells & cheese...cook it up then bake for just a bit. Along with a frosty mug full-o-beer! Good stuff! Stimulates brain function & promotes learning methinks! I have sold my pool table & all the fixins' 10x's in my mind trying to justify a fancy new steed! Since everyone in this group is so cool... If I won the lottery, I would buy each of you a fancy new steed! Except fattyfatfat of course! Problem is, I never play the lotto, so that will likely never happen. It's the thought counts right?

You guys have me trying to come up with ways to get a new bike.  I have already thought about selling my car...it sits in the garage most of the time anyways because we take the truck every where we go...but it is always good to have a second car just in case.  So now I am thinking that I only have a couple of more payments left on the college loans and I could use that money for a new bike...just a few thoughts.

6 below is frigging cold.  I would not want to get out of bed, so I sure would not want to workout in that weather.

Like the banter that took place today.  I knew where to go for a good laugh when the students were ticking mo off today.  Hope it continues tomorrow.

Everyone keep working hard.  I had another great day in the pool and I am looking foward to a bike ride tomorow after school.

Newtons1st - 2010-01-17 11:02 AMOK this is the week I have been partialy dreading. I have a trade show I have to be at in Orlando from Friday through Thursday. Since I have some family in FL, Fort Myers I am heading out tomorrow to spend some time with them. So no bike for that whole time and I am not liking that. I will get to focus on running and swimming though. My hotel in Orlando in next door to a YMCA aquatic center. I will be driving past Tampa so Nichole if you hear the alarms going off dont worry I am just passing through. So I will also be limited posting until I get back.

Wow ... bike porn and trash talk in the same day ... I wish wasn't out all day.

Training volume is getting back up there and I'm working through the cough.

I've got a chesty cough (insert jokes and comments here) but want to get in the pool. Any advice about swimming with a cough? Should I hold out until I get the coughing under control? I'd rather not drown and I usually stay out of the water when I have a cough but this thing has been around forever.

Personally I would stay out of the pool if I was sick.  I don't know if it is the clorine or what but it aggrivates anything I have so I just wait it out instead of making it worse and being out even longer.  Have you been to the dr about your cough?  Normally I wouldn't say that but if it isn't going away might not be a simple thing and you might need meds.

If you need me to buy a kayak just let me know - I will chase your all the way to the shore.  Paddles are the only damn way I could keep up with you in the water right now.

KeriKadi - 2010-01-21 3:22 PM Purty blue bike.

I love the trash talk going on.... good times.

You will all be happy to know Keri is in a much better mood, the pitty party is OVER.  I don't usually take curves that hard but it just seemed like a lot was going on at once.  Anyway.... the girls and I had a great time at a literature based homeschool coop today then off to HEB/Central Market before a picnic in this perfect weather!  Gotta love it!

I'm starting to wonder if I could pull off the Gateway Oly.  I mean if JP can do it Laughing  Maybe, just maybe I could pull it off.  It's a thought.  Are they still planning on taking people off shore and kicking them off the boat to start?

I have to agree on this one.  I try to stay out of the pool if/when I'm sick.  I'd also say if since the cold has moved into your chest, I'd give yourself a few days rest and let it clear out.  When I'm sick, as long as it's from my neck up, I'll still workout.  Once it moves into my chest or I have a stomach bug, I'll wait it out and rest.  Feel better

No Keri - you can't bring the bike in the bedroom! We need to leave room around the stripper poll.  A season ending injury should not occur in the bedroom (although it would make for a great story).  The CycleOps trainer in the family room is as close as that bike gets to our "quality time".

If you can manage to pry yourself away from Ken for a weekend ride I'd love to take you up on that!
I know y'all are riding down south this weekend -- I've been itching to make white sausage gravy with buscuits and all the fixins so keep that in mind.  There are benefits to heading up north.  That goes for everone - biking near my house = eggs, hashed browns, sausage, buscuits & gravy and fresh coffee, just let me know you're coming.

When are you coughing?  Last fall I had a cough but I didn't cough at all when I was exercising, I'd start coughing when I stopped.  If you are coughing during exercise it's not worth it.

Are you taking something for the cough?

I'm likely the resident crunchy Mama here - other than some poison Ken occasionally insists on bringing in the house we practice homeopathy.
Some things to consider looking into - Emergen'C - this will boost your immune system and is great for you, I swear by this stuff.  Elderberry Extract Syrup with zinc - also an immune booster and great for a cough.  We also take probiotics when not feeling 100% - my favorite brand for adults is Pearl, they are tiny and easy to take and come in packaging similar to sinus meds.  All of this can be found at Whole Foods, Trader Joes or Vitamin Shoppe.

We try not to use cough suppressants during the day as getting out what the cough is trying to get out is important.  When we supress things like cough and fever they tend to last longer.  We save cough suppressants for night time when the cough is keeping us up and keeping us from sleep.

I hope you feel better soon.  A bad cough can be so exhausting and such a pain in the butt.
