Finished up my last long ride 4hr - 67 miles. Good ride to end up with, had some wind to contend with, temps were cool in the mid 50's up to 60 by time I was done.

Funny; two weeks now seems long. At two months out it seemed like time was flying!!

Nice swim thread as well!!

Big FAIL today. I went out on a bike ride at 7:30am  and 50degrees outside and intended to 100miles . My hands and feet where numb for a while but my arm warmers and tri-top and super bright long sleeve tech shirt kept my upper body warm. I picked a course that had tons of false flats(not fun)and a bridge about 650 elev twice. I went down 27ish miles keeping a good avg but did a turn around and into the wind for 29 miles of headwind and back over the bridge and to the false flats (mini rollers). I only did 56 miles but man 29 miles of headwind going 18mph avrg at start to 14.1mph finish. Funny thing is my legs felt good after the bike but my head was like I am not going back and doing that 56miles in that wind. So I failed today .I just hope the energy of begin with fellow triathletes will pull me through on the windy sections.

I need to replace my chain. Do you guys think it's too close to the race? I had it changed last year about a month out. I still have 6-7 rides mostly short with 1-2 hour ride ahead if that helps.

thx

I just replaced mine last week. Would rather not risk having faulty equipment and as long as you have a few rides left you should be good to go.

Just finished the last long ride...on the course.  I swear there was a head wind for almost the entire ride.  The wind must have been shifting.  There was a bit of glass on 79 just past the bridge.  The rest of the course was clean for the most part.

Long run tomorrow then taper time.

I got my last long ride in today, 101 miles followed by a 5 mile run. It was 29 degrees when I started my ride. Finally warmed up into the 60's.

Wonder which of us will be still out there on the run in 2 weeks....Me Me I'm sure....14:30 finishers or faster will be done in two weeks  to the hour.

Pleased my bike power has been improving last couple weeks. Still not back to where it was when fully healthy...progress is good.

If you're swapping the chain, I would replace the cassette as well so they "break in" together.

Finish line tape from 6-9

What I really want to do is just be able to physically be at the finish line when Shaun finishes.  I should be finishing around 6 p.m..  My guess is Shaun will be between 8 and 9 p.m..  I really just want to be at the finish when he finishes and have a finishers picture of us taken together.  Any idea if / how I can get back to the finish line after I'm done.  Will be athlete be enough?

I'm having that discussion with my coach today so not sure what he'll recommend.

Highest I think I could do is 72.6% and lowest I'd like to be is 69.6% based on my training and my IM distance aquabike I did a month ago.

Not planning on running, means I could bike harder at higher % of FTP (if) and have higher TSS just not sure I am trained to do that.

When I took my bike in the other day they told me they couldn't swap my chain because the cassette was worn.  They just wouldn't fit together as the cassette was worn.  Told me to just keep riding until I had an issue then swap them both out.

Mine was this morning.  3 hour ride with the team - called and said no way. It was cold, I was tired, etc.  The sleep was more important to me. I'll go out later today as I want to get one more decent ride in.  But I've been so tired, this was the only chance I had to sleep in awhile.  Next weekend is only 1 1/2 hours of easy riding.

I had a great long swim, run and ride last weekend so I'm feeling pretty good.

Duane
