Going out on dates almost every night is exhausting! i want juicy updates, i read your blog and NOTHING. Welllllllll still hanging with ChristianGray, we've been having a lot o' fun! He's different than most guys I date - not an athlete or triathlete. I can't decide what I think about that, I mean if this thing goes long term. I like being able to tell someone about my training/racing and have them understand terms like 650 wheels, body glide, OWS, hill repeats, etc. He probably thinks the same about me and my lack of knowledge about his passion (art). But I'm starting to think maybe it's a good thing to get away from that. my husband thinks road biking and triathlons are dumb. but, i think fantasy football and guitars are dumb. so he comes to my races, i go to his gigs (both equally rare events any more) and it works out. i personally believe as long as they have a hobby/something to make their personality more interesting and it doesn't take away from my hobby, then we should be good. plus, you both get to learn about something new that way. win win. does he tell you to shut up when you talk tris? did he ask you how this weekend went when he saw you? as long as he respects that part of your life, you'll probably be ok Well, my wife doesn't think triathlons are dumb. And I don't think her acting/modling is dumb. BUT, we both understand that those are our individual passions, and support and respect each other in those passions. Just because you don't understand someone's passion in something, doesn't make it dumb. Does she have any interest in tri/racing? No. Do I have any interest in acting? Not really. But we attend each other's events and know those things are important to each other. To be honest, I don't think I would LIKE to be with another triathlete/racer/MTBer whatever. It's like when I dated a volleyball player when I was playing all the time. That's ALL we talked about, and it got old. We need our seperate interests/hobbies. |

I personally don't want my guy to be a tri. I feel like S?B?R is my time, and it fun in the beginning of a relationship to do everything together BUT as the relationship ages it fun to have your own time and space.....especially if kids come into play. Like Meh said, I want them to be supportive and be respectful and not knock my passion but otherwise I want him to have his own passions and time. So lisa, give this a shot it may wind up to surprise you. Another point, I love my friends to be tri so I don't have to always race by myself :-) and love to see my biggest fan at the finish shoot. He wears jeans and a blazer almost every time I've seen him - just depends on if it's a t-shirt or a button down underneath. Funny, the first date with a certain ex of mine he wore a race t-shirt. Such different guys. I need to go shopping |
