Veteran 299 Ferndale | Subject: RE: 100d x 10m = 1 strong core So I was inspired by Brad's plank/gym story, this is my workout from tonight.... 10 sec rest in between. Tried two times through for a total of 20 minutes.... Crunch (1 min) Plank (3 min) 45 Degree leg raise hold thing (1 min) Crunch Toe Touch (1 min) Plank (3 min) Dying bug (1 min)
First time through was hard but not impossible. Second time through SUCKED, I did not make it through the planks without putting a knee down for a sec. |

Regular 1362 Jenison, MI | Subject: RE: 100d x 10m = 1 strong core I did about 11 minutes last night at 11:35 or so to fit it in. I just kept rotating through variations of crunches on my floor as I wanted to be able to see my TV as I was watching Talking Bad. One more week of my favorite show ever, Breaking Bad, to go. And just over a week to go on the core challenge. I won't stop after that, but not sure I'll keep doing 7 days a week either. Maybe 6. |

Veteran 299 Ferndale | Subject: RE: 100d x 10m = 1 strong core I'm out for this week...... Woke up Sunday morning, my right elbow was the size of a softball. After a trip to Urgent Care, where a doctor with a VERY concerned look on her face told me to go to the ER, 4 hours in the ER, X-Rays, blood tests, etc..... It was determined that I have Bursitis... I am in to much pain right now to do abs and I definitely don't see planks anywhere in my near future. Have never dealt with an injury, now two in a month.......
I will finish my 100 days, it just won't be on time. |

Man, I hope your love of planks is not the culprit. Maybe you smacked it on something mountain biking?? Rest up and take care of yourself. Lots of water and omega fatty acids to help with inflammation. Sending you healing vibes!! |

Veteran 299 Ferndale | Subject: RE: 100d x 10m = 1 strong core Thanks for all of the well wishes and support!!! bcraht: Along with being very puffy it was also very warm to the touch. Someone from my running group had some major complications from an infection caused by a splinter, so after the reaction of the urgent care doc I freaked out a little. Amy: ER doc asked if I have been putting a lot of pressure on my elbows lately, told him about the planks, he said could be the cause but the acuteness of the injury led him to believe that I smacked it on something. I spent my Saturday morning swinging a sledge hammer helping my brother tear down a house and my evening riding carnival rides with my kids, possible I could have banged my elbow in either situation. I actually got into the ER pretty quick, the blood work took for ever!! I have been upping my water intake this week, didn't know about the omega fatty acids... Brad: Thanks man!! Switch: It feels a lot better, it's no longer excruciating if I so much as brush against something, and the swelling is going down. ER doc prescribed antibiotics, 600mg ibuprofen, told me to ice it, and wrap it during the day. I have a follow up with my Primary next Monday (earliest he could get me in). Biggest thing is that I felt like I had the flu the last couple of days, was watching the clock for my next dose or ibuprofen. No ibuprofen at all today, feeling about 90%. ER docs warned me about feeling like crap, that is why they prescribed the ibuprofen
Stop reading here if you don't want to hear me whine.....
I'm just bummed. I had my best summer of racing ever, trained with some awesome people (both virtually and physically), and felt like I was in the best shape I have been in for a long time. My motivation went out the window when I hurt my foot and now this. I know I will get back to where I was but I was really looking forward to carrying my summer momentum into fall and through winter. Boot camp class has started, but it looks like I won't be there for at least a couple of weeks depending on what my doc says.....

Regular 5477 LHOTP | Subject: RE: 100d x 10m = 1 strong core Brad, I'll totally do it, but I just can't post a butt pic. We'll have to come up with some other sort of progress metric. I actually pretty regularly do butt stuff--lunges, squats and this floor series with different donkey kicks and fire hydrants, cross overs. It makes me sore the next day. It's the PITA workout;) Btw, I believe we're one week out from the original 100 days. I will post an "after", but I took a good hard look yesterday, and there is no visible difference. |

I'm not surprised if you aren't seeing a whole lot of change in the mirror. 1. Ab definition is generally more related to body fat % than anything else. 2. It is hardest to judge change in our own pictures/images...especially when we see the subject on a daily basis. The rest of us may see something you don't. 3. To me, it isn't at all about the appearance, but rather the effect the stronger core might have on my performance. While I would certainly like to look "shredded", I care more about getting faster and running easier. (And the fact that I'm going to a wonderfully delicious pizza buffet in about 30 minutes factors in to it - I'm just not going to get ripped that way) |

Now if I could only stop shoving my pie hole, you'd be able to actually SEE the development. |

Dude, every 6th grade recess I either played football or breakdanced--on cardboard, thankyouverymuch. As a matter of fact, I'm quite sure I can still do the worm, and when tri season is over, I'll shoot some sweet vid and post it. I may even have some parachute pants. Actually, now that I think about it, the worm really is a great core exercise. Thanks for the suggestion Originally posted by switch Originally posted by QueenZipp Today's core challenge was a fit piglet workout 10 rounds of 10 pushups 10 squats 10 sit ups
I wanted to puke on the last set. Me likey Judi ^. Strong work. Here's my core challenge exercise of the day: In push-up position draw your right knee up to your right elbow and hold for 10 seconds, then take the right knee over to the left elbow and hold for 10. If you can, go directly into the same thing with the left leg. Keep the navel drawn tow toward the spine throughout, and the butt down. Enjoy! Wait...what??? Like, ACROSS????? WTF!!!! Are you going to have us do The Worm next???? <Editor's Note (again): If you don't know what "The Worm" is, then you really missed out on the peak of American dance culture known as "the late 80s".> Tri season's over. Just sayin'. |
