Out of T2, , to the first run point and cruising right along, although she may dispute that description of it. :-)

Ugh. Oscar is making me cry again. This has to stop. I'm supposed to be making him hate me and I can't do that if I can't see the workout I'm writing through the haze of tears.

Many athletes offer sometimes perfectly good but sometimes excuses for sub-par performances--ref called me drafting, heavy legs, I've been sick, field was stacked, etc.

Oscar downplays a stellar performance (especially considering the number of valid excuses he would have had for a shytty one!):

"my time not so good. no1 and 2 so far for me. if andy not stop i be no4. if jon ma join maybe no5 for me and if loo join maybe i no6. haha today win by luck. thks coach swim makes me swim easier, I run faster at transision area i think faster than before my race, bcase my swim not to much push. after swim i can feel not tired at all. at bintan tri infront of me for 2 or 3 peeps but this time i infront of them. i start with elite group im affraid but as coach tell i follow a swimmer after 1st balloon. usually i at last of group after swim so i canot chase any1, just alone. this time i can follow peeps see andy at bike start and no2. but no 3 no 4 no 5 sg athlete alot of race itu they join, but now didnt join and idol got injury, so i win by luck hehe."

It goes on like that for the bike and run leg.

Also, he rode his bike to and from the ferry terminals in Bintan Island (Indonesia) and Singapore and to and from the race as well to save on taxi money. Singapore is an expensive city. Dude's a fruit seller!

Still, shyte, I wish I would have thought of it. I'm not sure he would have taken transport money, though. What am I supposed to do with this guy?! He didn't even stay for the overall awards--he told the RD to give the #3 trophy to #4 and he'd take the trophy in his AG (even though in the official results he'll still be #3 OA). The reason (which of course he didn't tell the RD) is he needed enough time to bike to the ferry to catch his boat back to Bintan.

Oscar is such an amazing man, Yanti. How did you find him?? Makes me wonder how many other people could be athletes if they could only get the chance. Thank you for helping him live his dream!

Quick note about my race. Will do a RR later when I'm not so tired. First off, 6:15 a.m. is *way* too early to swim in freezing water, ride up a bunch of hills, then run CX for 3 mi. Water was 62*, with patches that were even colder. Ride was good--5 min. faster than last time. Run, well, it would have been better if I could have felt my feet. Running uphill with frozen toes is really hard so the first mile was super slow. After that, not so bad. Even though I missed my finish time goal, I had fun and I'm really happy with how it went.

6:15am is frozenazzcracko'stupid o'clock even without all that!

FANTASTIC ride and you really conquered the beast with preparation. Nothing to do about the freezing water and frozen run toes, you did AWESOME with it anyway!

FANTASTIC JOB MARY!!!!
You conquered that mega intimidating course.

I bet that Janyne rocked it too.

My race went good (I might do a race report later). But I beat my goal time by 10 minutes which I was stoked about. I even beat my super secret don't tell anyone because you might make a fool of yourself goal time by 5 minutes and that was after stopping to take photos cause it was just a gorgeous day and this is where we got to run. I really do live in a beautiful place.

It is really good to see all the racers taking advantage of the weekend. All of you are to be congratulated for working so hard to reach a goal.  I had the opportunity to stalk from my computer this weekend.  Among the group of folks I kept an eye on was a young man at IMLP this weekend.  Tim was a member of our church youth group many years ago.  Now to see him all grown up and married with a small child and a 14:43:xx finish in his first IM is pretty cool.

Congratulations to all of you!!!!!

I'm not sure how many of you follow trialthlete mag on IG, but this pic impressed me this weekend:

Awesome ladies!!!!

I spent most of yesterday on and off the computer stalking friends at IMLP. HOLY CRAP what a cluster the weather turned into! Forecast was for high of 68 with threat of thunderstorms. It was actually sunny and 92!!! One friend didn't make the bike cutoff But the other pushed through.

And today I'm tired.
Really tired. zzzzzzzzz

have a good Monday!

Awesome racing this weekend ladies!!!!

DS1 and I had a great hike Saturday morning and then proceeded with a crazy busy weekend so I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I had energy for my run.

And I passed my total 2014 run mileage on Saturday!

I spent yesterday volunteering at IMC and holy crap the weather was a cluster there too!  After months of hot weather and no rain (very unusual for here), it POURED yesterday and cool temps (12C, low 50's).  We needed the rain for certain, but what misery for the athletes.  I was wetsuit stripping and by the end I was soaked and shaking from the cold--I can't imagine what it was like for them on the bike course.  Many many came out of the water shaking, dizzy.  Friends in the change tent said that people couldn't even get dressed cause their hands weren't working.  At least 3 male pros DNF'd the bike.  By mid afternoon it had dried out, it was quite nice for our second shift at a run aid station, but man, that must have been a tough day.  It was really cool to see the race from the other side though.  Very very fun to volunteer and have the opportunity to help the athletes out on their journey.  I had three friends racing and they all finished so that was great too!  Have a great week all!

Great job.  I knew you would do well with all the prep and hard work.  Great improvement on the bike.

What a great way to spend the day.  Wow, with as much warm weather as we have had I'm sure most were planning on a race as hot or hotter than last years.  Personally, I'd take the cooler day anytime even if it means some shivers during/after the swim.

I had a great weekend.  Went ahead and ran the local Old Settlers 5k instead of traveling down to Seattle for the grander event.  I really want to do an Oly in two weeks so am saving my chips for that.  I felt as strong as I ever have in a 5k cruising the first 1.5 miles at a 6:50 pace.  Next half mile had a pretty descent hill and gradual gain to the base of it so slowed to 7:15 pace that stretch.  Picked it back up to 6:50 next half mile and was starting to build for a strong finish but alas, in the exact same place as last year I had to stop to throw up.  I felt fine after clearing my stomach and passed several of the people back that had passed by me.  I should have been around 21:30 so was pretty happy overall.  I took a quick drink off water after the finish and ran the course again at a leisurely pace to get a few miles in.

Next day got a good trainer ride in while watching last years Paris-Roubaix bike race on youtube.  Holy cow those cobblestones looked like a nightmare.  After watching this I could much better appreciate Matt's bike race a few months ago.

And finally, I got to campout in the backyard last night with my son.  He was so excited you'd have thought we had pitched the tent on the top of Mt. Everest.  He wants to sleep out there all week but I'm not sure my back can handle it.  I may have to drag a mattress out there.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Lots of good stuff in there (sans the puking). So awesome that you will camp out with your son. My boys used to sleep on the trampoline and loved it.
