My doctor yesterday asked me not to run at all until my tri Saturday, and then no running for a full week after it probably depending how I will feel.

It sucks to lose the time now, but if you let it take care of it, you won't be out as long as if you try to keep going.

I got a question for all you tri expert Saturday I will have my first triathlon ever. It is getting really exciting and I am getting nervous more every day.

I was wondering, would you think that going for a smooth swim the day before my tri is a bad idea? Something like 1000 to 1200 meters maybe nothing to push too hard and get tired for the race but just do some swimming.

Usually I go out and run some on my pre race day, but I have to find another pressure releiver activity this time :p Or would it be better to just go for an easy ride? Or nothing at all?

I don't usually do much the day before the race. I end up walking a lot with packet pickup and walking through transition (if possible).  I have done practice swims the day before a race and didn't really notice any effect on my performance.

That sounds like a smart approach.  Get it good rested and healed before embarking on the mary training

Experts?

*looks around the thread*

Oh, you mean us   Personally I don't like to do much.  Maybe a ten minute ride to make sure the gearing is working on the bike, a light 5-10 min jog, or a short swim.  Just to make sure things are staying loose.  Like Jen said, packet pickup the day before is great for walking around

I think you'd be OK with a easy, low key swim. You'd probably be better with a rest, but if you need this for stress relief then just take it easy.
