I agree!  I started back to school teaching and my youngest son is playing his first year of high school soccer.  But I've been told, "The hay is already in the barn."

Finally took possession of the new ride last night, but it was to late to get much of a ride in, but it was long enough to find out that I freaking LOVE this bike...and you CAN buy speed.    Let the games begin.

Got to sleep in today... What a great feeling! Going out to do a 3:15 ride. Should be able to get in about 60 or so... Last long work out before I start packing.

Yeah, she went with pink cable housing, seat, and bar tape.

Are you thinking of going pink on your bike?

Thanks man.  I normally wouldn't have posted my bike porn, but since I only picked it up 9 days before the race, I thought it deserved to make a mention.   Let's rock this thing!

First timer here in Austin.  I just got through posting to my blog how I am COMPLETELY FREAKING OUT at this point!  I blew off today's swim workout and am now drowning in guilt over it.  To relieve some of my pre-race anxiety and decided to start packing (we are driving out 4am Thursday).  As soon as I started packing I realized I can't pack any of my gear related to the race because I still have workouts to do!  So, I gathered a couple of pair of shorts, underwear, and socks and threw it in a pile on my floor.  That didn't take long.

I'm ready to get there and get it started.  My pattern is I am very anxious leading up to a major race (anything at a new distance level).  Once I am about 5 strokes into the swim, in my mind I hear myself saying, "What were you so nervous about?  You like this!  This is fun!"  And the rest of the day is a good time!  So, I am ready to get off the end of that pier and into the water so I can lose the butterflies and sensation that I have to pee that I get everytime I think about waiting in that line by the swim start race morning!

On a side note, I nearly tumbled down the concrete stairs out my back door this morning in the dark!  That would have been the end of this journey. Thank the good Lord I caught myself before I really bit it.  My heart goes out to all of our IM friends who have posted to us here that injury has ended their journey.

See you guys in Louisville!

I'm so niave in this journey that I don't know if I should be excited, scared, nervous.  In reality I have been a little anxious the last 2 days but Im packing large ZIPP bags with stuff for each leg and T's.  It will make consolidation easier as the week goes by.

And tomorrow I say goodbye to my carbon horse as she gets picked up by TriBike Transport.  I just pray for a break in the intense heat and humitiy.  Just a few clods God.

May you all have the wind at your backs!

I'll second the sucky workout, glad the  plan called for an easy ride, because I could not muster any speed.  Got in 50 miles on the bike, with a 2 mile run.  91 degrees with humidity its 103.  Looking forward to any cooler weather that Louisville has to offer.

Embrace the taper!

Best of luck to all you!!

Yes...first timer!  Def have the butterflies in the stomach!!  My brother is doing it as well but this is his second IMKY and 4th IM to complete.  I have another good friend doing it for the third time with the experience of over 20 other IM's under his belt.  My cousin is coming in from TX to do it and this is his first as well!!  Should be a great time!!  Nervous and excited!

i wanted to test out my run outfit/gear today, so i went for a run just a little while ago with my race outfit, fuel belt, race number belt, visor, sunglasses....everything i am planning on using for the run in loo.  i had a really enjoyable run and was thinking about the journey just to get to this point.   the sun was was starting to set.  it was such a perfect evening for a run.  it then occurred to me, this was exactly the time of day i'm hoping that i finish in next sunday.  it all seemed like a wonderful sign to me.  i find that this run has given me some peace.  i'm ready to be there.  ready to do this.

Im curious about what you guys have as a meal plan this week?  Especially you IM second and many timers.  This is my first and I'd appreciate any input, even if you are a first timer, all ideas and suggestions are welcome.  Thanks in advance.

I love pasta but wondering about alternatives and when to start the carbo load?

First Timer here, but no jitters. I followed the plan pretty well, avoided injury (minus a tweak or two) and ready to soak up the experience.
I remember my first triathlon when I was a fat guy that wanted to "just finish" for the accomplishment and to get in shape. Finishing that first sprint tri was one of the greatest feelings I can remember and my time was irrelevant. I remember thinking that an Ironman is just crazy, little did I know how addicted to this sport/lifestyle was, but I knew I was hooked.

This is the biggest thing that many of us have ever done or attempted, our own "Super Bowl". We have trained for the past 8 months or so and have been tired, grouchy, less productive, whatever- you name it. Our families, work, personal lives have been compromised in some way to accomplish this goal.

This is our week. Our week to celebrate the work we have done and the sacrifices our family and friends have made supporting us. Its time to do what we set out to do and enjoy it. The work is done, nothing else to do but show up and do what you trained for.

I want to honor those people and go out and finish this thing, and enjoy every bit of it. Good luck to all of you, see you at the finish line!
